February 2025 W.I.S.H. - Give yourself some love

@piglet1979 and @PAsFab5 I was diagnosed a few years ago. Couple troubleshooting pointers if I may…
If you are having…let’s call it an occurrence…and are needing a shower start with warm water after instead of hot. The sudden temp change can be a little painful. Give your digits a chance the gradually warm, same with hand washing
Heavy socks and serious nail clippers…the skin on the toes can get super thick in the winter as can toenails. Why? No idea but it happens
Lotion hands and feet after an occurrence to prevent dry skin. Sleep in socks and tuck hands into sleeves at night. I sleep in a “comfy” ever night from October to like March and it’s a game changer.
“Madonna gloves” under regular gloves if it’s super cold. That way if you need your finger tips (such as to use a phone) most of your hand will still be covered if you take the first layer off. Related let your fingers warm before trying to use a phone or tablet..they do not like raynauds fingers.
Have some fun and freak out friends who don’t know what it is…ghost white fingers in someone’s face is always good for a laugh
Thank you. I was talking to my mom last night and she told me that my step dad has it. I never knew. DD made it through work on Monday and Tuesday with regular temps in the single digits and didn't have an issue. It was much colder than it was on Saturday. Yesterday she even forgot to use the hot hands. Does it not always happen when it is cold? We see the pediatrician next Wednesday for this.

It typically happens when cold but not 100% of the time based on personal experience. I've had instances where its freezing and only one finger might be effected and then days where its 40 and all digits are white. Stress does make it worse, at least for me

Woohoo... the parade of things leaving the house is almost over. I have a collection of totes and a rug to list then I'm done-done with that part of the move. Which is now just a week away, so woohoo for that as well.

Woohoo... daytime temps are predicted to be in the mid-50's for the next 10 days. What a relief.

Woohoo... I'll be completing my Connect/review at work today, a whole two days before the due date. And woohoo for the co-worker who spent time with me yesterday to go thru and give ideas.

She typically does wear hot hand and toes but she didn't on Saturday because it was warmer (I think at some point we were close to 40). She also has rechargeable hand warmers. I did read that migraine medicine can cause it (which she is on), so when we see the neurologist next week, I will ask about it. I do need to get her into the pediatrician about this as well.
I also have migraines and am on both preventative and rescue meds and I have read that this increases the symptoms…however I am literally terrified to make any changes in my meds for my migraines so I don’t know what to really do…

Thank you for the pointers!!!

I cannot believe how common this is!!

Do your fingers turn blackish red after an episode? My discoloration lasted 2 days after my white/blue/grey episode!

Omg y'all... I've thought I have neuropathy in my feet for several years but now I'm thinking it is Rainauds, or possibly a combo of both. More than anything my feel are cold and to sleep well I have to wear socks and have the electric blanket on. A couple times I've noticed my toes were blue and lately I've had a couple times where my fingertips have gone numb and super cold. This house is spotty cold and the floors are always cold, so I am so glad to be moving into the apartment, which is surrounded by other apartments and has carpet.
We are going to need to rename this thread-The Ones Who Suffer from Rainauds 🙃

All the cool kids have blue fingers!
Yes @PAsFab5 got a lot of colors at play…fingers go white toes generally go purple then like screaming red if I warm them back up too quickly. Toes get blisters sometimes too if they are cold for too long. Sometimes it’s a quick hit (couple mins) and have had instances where the cold lasts for hours after warming up. I’m always cold anyway but the digits are worse. I deal with migraines as well but not really bad anymore. Keeping those is check is def more difficult then just investing in some good socks and gloves!
Joked with my gyno I’m waiting on menopause to enjoy the sudden warm ups 😂
When I started having symptoms in 2020, initially i thought maybe it was covid related but my dad was like oh yeah I’ve had that since my 30s…gee thanks for telling me?!?

I remember back in my girlhood my Mom always said I made good pie crusts because my hands were cold. I don't think there's anything I can/should do differently but my mind is blown with this realization.

I am thankful that I've finally finished watching all of the episodes of the British crime drama 'The Fall'. I started over the weekend and holy cow did not realize it was three seasons, and the episodes just kept coming.

And I am thankful to now be just a week away from moving. I am so emotionally ready to go.

Thankful the weather is supposed to warm up a bit this weekend, because I'd like to be rid of this ice!

Thankful I got a call this morning from my dentist's office offering a cleaning appointment tomorrow. (I had to reschedule one recently and they were booking several months out, so I was on a cancellation list.)

I am thankful that the tooth I chipped/cracked last night can be saved with a crown. I was able to get an emergency appointment today at 2:00, and I was so relieved that I don't need another root canal.

I am thankful that my dentist is so kind. He could tell that I've been stressed out based on my clenching. He told me to stop watching the news and get off of social media because the stress literally caused me to injure myself. He told me to do more art and find healthy ways to deal with everything.

I'm thankful for dental insurance because even though I will have to pay more than $1,000, it would have been over $2,000 without it.

That is one special dentist!

I knocked out the last big thing yesterday - weed whacking the back patio. Now I'm down to a trip to the dump and putzing around cleaning and sorting like-things together. It should be a relaxed low-key weekend. Woohoo for that. I'll have plenty of time (and energy) to go to my last movie in the beloved town theater and take my last walk on my favorite beach, even tho the weather is predicted to be a bit damp.

I've been thinking that after I unpack (which shouldn't take long with so little stuff left) I won't know what to do with myself. There won't be any big to-do things looming over me, but I'm sure I'll be able to come up with something to obsess about.

Well not sure DD has Raynards now. We saw the Immunologist and Pulmonologist yesterday and they both seem to think it was not since it was just 1 finger and has not shown up again despite being in the cold 3 days this week. The immunologist said it could be a possibility as it goes along with autoimmune and she is at a higher risk because of the lower antibodies but what she is seeing she doesn't think it is.

It was a long day yesterday with both appointments plus a breathing test. Since DD's cough is gone and all of her breathing tests have been good, we don't need to see the pulmonologist for roughly a year (we will see her at every other Immunology appointment). Immunology went well too. DD will get blood work in 2 months to see how the infusions are doing and see if we need to up the dose. We will see her again in 6 months and talk about if the infusions are working (I think they are and so does Immunologist as they think this is why she didn't get the flu like the rest of us). She also want to do genetic testing as well. I am actually excited for this. It will give us a better picture on if this will turn or could turn into CVID (a bigger issue with low antibodies) and many other things that can be a factor with low antibodies.

Since I missed what I am thankful for I will add it here. I am thankful for such great doctors. The pulmiologist ever gave DD her card to contact her for intern opportunities that she knows about at the main hospital as well as research opportunities while she is in college. It has been great to find the doctors we have that have taken their time to listen and think outside the box with DD. Because of this we have answers and a treatment plan.

Not a great score, but I never saw “Oliver & Company,” “Bolt,” “Hercules,” and “The Black Cauldron.”

I haven’t seen any Disney movies in a long time. I am still waiting for DD to see “Moana 2” with me. We will probably end up streaming it.
