I made it through another weird week of low attendance and staffing shortages due mostly to the flu, a delayed opening, and a snow day.
We had some drama between my paraprofessional and a behavior technician hired by the family, not the school. The behavior tech provided support to one of my students who has autism in the early fall. Once my student adjusted, she no longer had violent tantrums. So the behavior tech just sat around looking at her phone or filming my classroom. She had altercations with staff all over the school. Because she worked for the family, we couldn’t fire her. At my student’s recent annual planning and placement team meeting, the team determined that my student no longer needed the behavior tech, but the mother disagreed. Later that day, my para got into an argument with her over the behavior tech violating one of my rules in front of my kids. It got heated and I had to break it up. That was the final straw for me. With the principal’s support, we were able to convince the father to discontinue the behavior tech working in my classroom. I am stuck with her for three more days. I can’t wait for her to be gone.
I maintained my weight this week which is really disappointing. I typically lose in the beginning but then gain or maintain after that. Increasing activity is difficult because of my bad knees. I can’t really lower calories much more without starving myself. My sweet tooth is really challenged this time of year, and being a stress eater just adds to the challenge. Ugh…
DD is hosting a Galentine’s party tomorrow, so we will be cleaning and preparing. I’m getting a pedicure and look forward to relaxing and doing something for myself.
