Heads up for anyone just looking for a weekend rental. Dollar has extended the promo code 5wkcm through Feb 28. This gets you a compact rental for $15/day + tax. Can be picked up Thursday, but must be back by Monday 9 am.

I just snagged a one way rental from MCO and dropping off at Wyndham DTD over Princess weekend Fri-Mon for $71 total. Doesn't totally work for me yet (not leaving til Tuesday) but it's a start!

You have to have a valid Puerto Rico license to use the grupon (local grupon). Check your local grupon sites for similar deals.

Check Dollar - I just made a reservation for 9 days for $235 for a full size car. I used the city special!

It should be on the screen when you plug in all your information. It's a yellow bar under the compact car selection. If it's offered, you can't miss it. Don't get excited when you see a decent base rate because when you scroll to the bottom you get to see the Est. Grand Total-- and extra $70 to what I was looking at.

Alamo, via both alamo.com and costco, is the first company to come down in price Feb 22-Mar 1. Costco minivan $356 total.

Hmmmm...just rechecked my dates again and it still worked. It is only for a weekend rental, complete by end of Feb. and must be back by 9 am Monday.

What are your dates?

My minivan dropped from $350 to $244. I used the "city special" link on Dollar's website. My dates are Feb. 8-13. Yay!!

That is still about $100 more than I have paid in the past, but lower than what I had booked. Other types of cars are still high.

Edited to add: Alamo Insider has the economy for $226.75. I decided to go with them. They are my preferred company.

I have the same dates but the price is up to $376. Can you pay ahead of time and bypass the line? I love Alamo for this convenience!

What's really irritating is that for Feb 21-25 it costs $100 more for one day less!

The whole car rental game is irritating! The SUV looks to be the cheapest for those dates. It is the 2nd cheapest for my dates. Two years ago, I got a convertible as the cheapest car. I paid just over $100 for 5 days!

I got $325 total including taxes for a minivan for Feb 11- Feb17 through Dollar "city special link"

Has anyone ever tried to call to get a good rate? Or is it useless? I know I have played with a tone of codes and so far my total is $231 for a standard size picking up at Dolphin on 2/22-3/1. It is such a pain to keep plugging in different codes! But, I was hoping to get my rate under $200.

I just got an email for a great special from Dollar! Use code 5CO6E for a mid-size SUV for $189.99 per week good thru March 15th. I checked it for my Feb dates and it worked for Orlando--for my 8 nights it was $303 with taxes/fees. I didn't book it because it's still $100+ more than the deal I scored with Firefly, but hopefully this code will help someone else. It's significations lower than a lot of the rates I've been seeing lately.

Sure hope other discounts start coming out now because I really want to book with someone other than Firefly.
