February 2012 No Buy

Question If you update your daily records do you just edit your original post or quote and edit that? :)

I quote and edit. :goodvibes

On that note - -

02/01 = $16.05 gas
02/02 = $00.00 1/12
02/03 = $5.13 for Super Bowl Party drinks & $33.89 for gas.

Congrats charming23 on the interview going well!

MommaB, you can do whatever works for you! I just start a new post because I can't be bothered to go copy or quote my old one, but I used to copy and paste my last post into my new one.

Charming, glad to hear it went well! My fingers are still crossed for you!

The past two days have not been good, spending-wise or calorie-wise, for that matter. Funny how the two are often related!

2/2: groceries, more toilet parts (this is getting frustrating...)
2/3: $18 teacher store (all consumables for my class), $4 groceries, $5 lunch out (I  meetings when I can have lunch!), dinner out

no buy days: 0/8
dinners out: 1/4
non consumables purchased: 0/5
items decluttered: 0/10

I feel like I'm off to a lousy start. Tomorrow and maybe Sun. aren't going to be much better, so I'll plan to shape up on Monday!

Well, it's been snowing here for two days, and we likely won't be going out today, as DH has finally shoveled us as far as the road, but the road is not plowed....so I have 2 no-buy days so far.

02/01 = $16.05 gas
02/02 = $00.00 1/12
02/03 = $5.13 for Super Bowl Party drinks & $33.89 for gas.
02/04 = $10.10 USPS & $106.30 Target

Well I did some damage today. But I had quite the list sitting on the counter and a package that needed to be mailed off. I did save $23.25 in coupons at Target! :cool1:

But since I've made such a good start, I think I will hop on!:cool1:
Of course a foot of snow on the ground & 3-5" more to come should keep me from spending the next few days!!:rotfl2:
It is a bad month for a lot of extra expenses--church retreats & church camp for 2 kids due this month; DD is going to DC w/ school so that is due, DH tuition is due, I had a root canal & crown Monday (and apparently you can't be billed??!!)--OUCH OUCH OUCH.

SO...
Filled car & van w/ gas. $80
Hit grocery store before the storm $85 (pantry & freezer pretty full, so should be good this month)
Walgreens $10--temp crown fell off $6 for adhesive plus $4 Vday card for DH; dentist calls back & says you can use toothpaste to put the crown back on--DANG coulda saved $6!!
DD $150--she had a dance workshop this weekend in KC & rode with another family, so that's for hotel, gas & food (and probably a workshop tee)

Writing this makes me realize what a killer month this is! I am planning meals each week to keep us from going out.

Gonna try to stay on it!

Congrats charming23 on the interview going well!

Thanks. I really want this job. It is actually in the field I am studying for so it would be perfect. Plus it is part time so I would be able to continue going to school.

Not leaving the house today. Easy No Buy day.

I was hoping to get some errands done today, but I forgot all about the boys' soccer clinics until 30 minutes before they started -- whoops! That's not like me. Anyway, that ate up 3 hours of my afternoon, so no errands here. I ran while the older one had his clinic and put pjs on after my shower, so I won't be zipping out after dinner either. :) It made for a wild afternoon, but it got me my first no buy day!

I am in. I just updated my blog with my month to date report. I don't count utility/credit card bills and groceries in the spend IF I stay within the budget we have. Those are given spends.

I am working more towards reducing our grocery bill by shopping smart. What we were spending for two people was just ridiculous because I never went with a list or looked at the sales. I have to admit it is making dinner planning much easier.

We are also trying to watch the amount of money we waste on a those quick stops at WaWa, a stop at Target because I am bored, etc. although I will be stopping at Target today or tomorrow though to buy Lady and The Tramp ;) but I knew I wanted to do that so it was worked into my spending money for the week. To get out of there without spending any other money will be the hard part haha.

So far I am 4 out of 6 days at no spend and the total for the other two days is $4.99. I think that is pretty darn good if I do say so myself.

I'm aiming for
-12 no buy days
-1 meal out
-monthly budget of £650 for food and fuel

Spent £55 on groceries and treats for birthday party
=£595 budget left
