Oh it just keeps getting better !!:woohoo::woohoo: What time do you arrive ?????? I should be at POP by Noon on the 4th!!:banana::banana:

early evening on the 3rd.

Haven't posted at the DIS in a long time (usually only when a trip is coming up - it's kind of hard to be here when you know you can't go).

Anyway, a trip has managed to pull itself together over the last week, and we are booked (officially) for Feb. 6 to 13 at POFQ, but there's a good chance that we'll be adding a one-night room only for Feb. 5 (it all depends on airfare prices and flight times).

We were effectivly locked into this week based on being able to take time off - but I had always thought it was a good week in general because it is the week BEFORE President's Day rather than the week OF President's Day. We've never gone in February before (the last trips have been week BEFORE Labour Day and week AFTER Labour Day - the latter of those two being the best for crowds). Everything I had read stated that February has low crowds UNTIL President's Day weekend, and then things get busy. We'll be leaving on the 13th - and while I can expect some increase in crowds on Friday the 12th, I figured that we would miss the worst.

Anyway, I re-subscribed to touringplans.com to get an idea of what our week looked like (and while I know I can't divulge numbers for that week), I'm somewhat shocked by what I've seen. Websites that give general outlooks for crowds are still stating that they'll be low - **************.net is one example - BUT, touringplans is giving me numbers that look more like weeks in Regular or Peak Seasons, rather than what you usually see in Value Seasons.

I've noted in this thread the mention of the Dance Championships Feb. 5-7, so I know to avoid DHS on those days. But even Thursday Feb. 11 is coming up as a fairly busy day.

I do realize that there are never days below 4, so the reality is that the Crowd Calendar is a 7 point scale in reality. In other words, I consider it to be something like:

4= Not crowded
5= Low crowds
6= Some crowds
7= Fairly crowded
8= Mostly crowded
9= Extremely crowded
10= Horribly crowded (parks will limit entry due to capacity)

As I said, I don't want to break the rules and give out the numbers, but my general comment is that if 7 is the mid-point of that scale - we're looking at only two out of seven park days during that stretch which have crowd numbers on the lower side of 7.

Anyway, this just seems somewhat high, and I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Thanks!

Welcome, I'll add you to the list.

It seems many schools especially in the Northeast have a Winter break in addition to Christmas and Easter Vacation. "Ski week", it appears, falls either the week before Presidents Weekend or the week of. I think this makes the crowd levels jump. This trip will mark the 6th time I've gone at the end of Jan/early Feb. I've found that the Jan 30-Feb 6th week tends to be very quiet and then the next week begins ramping up fairly quickly. Just my personal observations.

My friends and I will be down there Feb 3rd through the 9th!! We're staying at AKV, safari view (thanks to one of my friends fabulous parents) 66 days and counting. Not excited or anything :woohoo:

Thanks for the feedback - although if it's only the northeast schools, I'm a little surprised that it would make such an impact. Basically, the numbers I'm seeing for the for the week prior to Presidents week look less like the Jan 30 - Feb 6 week you mentioned, and a helluva lot more like the REGULAR season week at the end of May that leads into the first Star Wars Weekend.

I think that's what has got me shaking my head - a Value Season week going into Peak Season (albeit with a holiday weekend in between), looks about as bad as a Regular Season week going into Summer Season.

Well, here's hoping they've overestimated a bit.

Adding you to the list right now!:thumbsup2

Howdy all :)

We will be at WDW Fed 20-28th. I am getting nervous about crowds but it was the only time we could go. We will be staying off-site. Oh and this is our first vacation so what a wonderful place to spend it at. I am so excited to travel.

When we went in 08, we went at the exactly the same time. We were expecting lighter crowds, but it was an early Mardi Gras week and Louisana schools are out of school. It was much more crowded than we anticipated, but still not awful. You have to manage EMH crowds. We made the mistake of showing up at AK on an EMH day later in the morning. It was pretty crowded.

Expect good size crowds, but not summer/spring break/xmas crowds.

You might see crowds the first day, but after that crowds should decrease.

I'll add you to the list.

You'll have a great time. The DIS is a good place to get info!

I just extended my stay by 1 day. Now its 2/14-2/17 at SSR and 2/17-2/20 at Kidani Village Savannah View. :thumbsup2

i'm combining the feb 2010 list from the happy dance forums. However,since I don't know if the people want to be added to the list I am just putting initials down and dates.

It'll give people more of an idea of how many people are traveling your week

We are heading down to WDW Feb 10-17th. Seeing on here there could be crowds. Being from PA I never gave Mardi Gras a thought. It's our first trip there and still should be fun. The 4 of us will be at POR.

JUST booked our first family vacation to WDW and so excited!!!

Will be staying at the Beach Club - me, DH, DS (4) and DD (9 months)

it will be busy.

I'll add u to the list.

I never thought about Mardi Gras until 08 when I found out that Louisiana schools get a few days off around Fat Tuesday. You tend to see alot of LSU colors. This year I'm sure you can add Saints colors as well.

My dates have changed. Going a week earlier then previously posted.
Now going Jan 30-Feb 6th still staying at FWC

By they way.. Thanks so much for doing all this Jordan! 60 days.. I cannot wait!
