FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

Do you think the 2/5 (Tues) party would be less crowded than the 2/2 (Saturday) party?

I was thinking the same thing, I expect a lot of local people to be there on the Saturday visit, in addition to us out of towners. I might change the date, only thing holding me up is our meet.

By the way, I applied the public code this morning, had to switch to Standard but saved $300. :)

Found this on the All Ears weekly newsletter:

from Leigh Moos: Just wanted to let you know that I just hung up from WDW dining reservations, and they told me that the Pirate and Princess Party is going to take place on selected dates from January 21 through March 14 (January 21, 26, 29; February 2, 5, 9, 14, 22, 26, March 1, 6, 11, 14). They also mentioned that if DVC members book by December
15 there will be a discount available. After that, the prices go to $45.95 for adults and $37.95 for children. Booking starts on October 31.

Maybe we will see something tomorrow!

WOOHOO! Now we may actually be able to do. Originally when everyone thought it was the 2nd or the 9th, we couldn't really go since we arrive on the second (LONG day) and leave on the 9th. But now the 5th!!!

I talked to my TA yesterday about the Gen. Pub. code - she knew it was coming out today. Anyway, she checked to see which would be cheaper - the code or my AAA discount. NO AVAIL. at AKL for us - but even so, the AAA rate is better for us. She said that she was checking 15 reservations at the deluxes and NONE had avail. to use the gen. pub. code???????? IS this hoked up or what?? LOL

I'm keeping my AAA rate - but, geez, why NO avail. at the deluxes for this gen. public code???? HUMMMMM :confused3

This may sound like a stupid question! And it might not be in the right place - but do you think a P&P party is worth it for a 30 something couple with no kids? :confused3 We really love Disney but I don't know what to expect for a P&P party and if it's worth the extra $$$?

If you really love Disney, I really don't see the problem. $30 to get into the Magic Kingdom and enjoy all the rides with NO LINES, go treasure hunting, watch some amazing fireworks and a great parade all in a virtually empty Magic Kingdom is worth well over $30 p/person for me.

That is strange. I got the general public code for the Contemporary, but I did call first thing this morning (around 8am). I hadn't even had a cup of coffee yet.

Lol.. I am on the west coast so I got up at 4 in the morning  to call, but I got my code, I didnt want to take my chances..

Okay, you may be mad at me!!! We are going to P&PP on the 5th!! My extended party voted me down on the Saturday one. We WILL, however, be at MK on Saturday, and if we still meet at 7pm, I can meet you all, then take off!

Okay, but I was doing the HAPPY dance yesterday!! We had school going so i could only fool with WDW on the phone and I never posted! I got the AP discount of $49 per weeknights and kept my AAA for the other nights!!

Then P&PP tickets were on sale -did it allll yesterday after deliberating with extended party! We all got our AP rates and P&PP tickets!!
The AP rates saved me another $78 on top of the AAA rates, over the course of our trip. So far, having AAA has been worth it, as my AP, which I wasn't sure about. I also saved on my P&PP tickets about $15-$20 overall. So far, I am breaking even-so any savings from here on out is even better. I will have the DDE-20% off MANY of our meals. $60 off of the Polynesian luau right off the top! CRT, and any other table service meals and meals at the hotel's food court.

Here is my trip's financial rundown:
9 nights, 1 AP, 2 5 day PH, 1 child 5day PH:

room-$586.17
AP-$462.21
passes for rest of family-$600.46
DDE-$65(was $60)
P&PP-$123.34
food-$1000 budgeted($100 per day average- sometimes less, sometimes more), [$145.55 for luau, $132.47 for CRT(these are after 20% off)-already paid for] BUT we BRING a lot too! We will bring sandwiches about half of our days.

TOTAL=$2837.18 ($910 left to pay for-yay!!)

I really want to switch my date, I think there will be less people, but I still have to sit down and re-work our touring plans for that, remember I have the BBB reservation.

I am seriously thinking about switching things up. I had to switch from a preferred to standard to get the code. But our totals with dining plan..

$2,100 - 1 adult, 1 junior (10) and 1 child(8). 9 nights, standard room POP with dining plan.

I wanted to change to 2/5, but it just didn't work with our schedule. So, we I purchased the tickets today for the 2/2 party! Can't wait!

I am one of those for whom the code did not work out! :headache: Only standard view at AKL available. I think we will just keep what we have, we have budgeted for no codes anyway. Of course the additional money would have been great, but I don't want to sit on my balcony overlooking a parking lot!

And this February 5 PPP totally confused my schedule. I think the easiest way to get it work again might be to actually attend the party...

I guess I should have clarified - she said none were avail. for my dates!!

Feb. 2-9th, What are your dates? I'm glad you were able to use it!!

Hey Lori and all........... NO one is mad - in fact we even considered trying to change to the 5th as well!!!!! Since I already purchased our tickets I don't think I can change the date.......... But, DH said, well, we may really enjoy it again, and if so, then we'll just go on the 5th too!!!

LOL SOOOO, we may be at 2 parties!

Ahhh..yes we're going the last week of Feb which isn't as busy. I actually had to look at my reservation a few times because I put my details in the General Public Code Thread and mine was ridiculously high compared to everyone elses. It's right though, I'm just a sucker for paying for the Contemporary. We usually stay at POR, so this is how I'm justifying it this time.

Well, Flossbolna, if I had AKL in my budget, I DEFINITELY would NOT want a parking lot view either!

I think your price is good and with DINING is great. I don't think my prices are overwhelmingly great, BUT I do feel that I am getting a good deal, being that I already had an AP(can't go backward, may be that I wouldn't have gotten it, but glad I did).
We have always set aside $100 per day for food and it has always worked out. I am NOT a DDP person-toooo much structure for me. The only way I would even try it is during the "free" promos. That is just me. I am hoping that the DDE that we can get with an AP will work out nicely for us and help stay in our budget.
IF you are planning on eating every meal out, then I think the DDP may be good for you(from what I have read), otherwise, I think $100 per day for 3 people would only get you 1 table service and 1 counter service meal per day or 3 counter service meals per day, if you all get meals(maybe a few bucks to spare). We eat every b/fast in our room and MAY get 1 or 2 max from the food court. We are not big breakfast people, but the kids are-but they are good with cereal, granola bars, oatmeal-easy stuff. So we bring a lot.

Anyway- my DD8 is calling-Lori

I sat and crunched numbers last night and even with all of the dining plan changes it is still a good deal for us. $96 dollars a day, we usually dont make it to park openings :scared1: , the kids have never gotten used to the time change so waking up at 8-8:30 is good for them, we usually eat something light in the room and head out to the parks anywhere between 9:00 - 10. We don't take afternoon breaks since we arrive so late. So a sit down meal every day also serves as a break for us and we usually close the park down, if its early closing we head to downtown Disney and finally go to sleep around 12 (which is only 9 our time)

So I guess we will be sticking with the dining plan see how it works out with these changes, that will be the decider for the 09 trip

You sound like us!! That is exactly what we have always done-BUT this time, I am going to try to do TGM HA!!!-Lori
