FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

If we are doing room only, is AAA the best we can get for February? Are there ever any general public room codes for this time?

:wizard: Beth

I have not seen, gotten emailed or mailed, anything yet. I got the AAA discount and that is it so far. I am waiting for AP discounts to show to see if it is better than AAA.
I promise as soon as I see anything, I will post. Anything referring to our Feb trip-including good airfare, I will post! BUT know that I cannot possibly do this on my own and that is why we all can depend on each other to post anything they find in reference to Feb codes and rates! 100 peoples eyes and ears are better one!!

:surfweb: Here's to a wonderful healthy(esp for all of you with kids) speedy February trip planning!!

The best discount available as of now is the AAA discount.

The best thing to do is book a room now at either rack rate or at the AAA discount rate. Then...be on the lookout for a discount code.

Looking at prior years (general public discounts):
2004 - Discount for 1/1 to 2/11 was released on 12/4/03
2005 - Discount for 1/2 to 4/16 was released on 10/21/04
2006 - Discount for 1/1 to 3/8 was released on 11/1/05
2007 - Discount for 1/1 to 3/8 was released on 11/2/06

Based on those numbers....it would seem that if a discount code is released for February....that it would be released sometime in mid-October to early December.

I would be willing to bet that some type of discount will be offered for at least January and the first half of February since this is usually a slow time of year.

If you book a room-only reservation right now at rack rate or AAA rate, you only need to put down a deposit equal to one night's stay after tax. A room only reservation can be changed or cancelled any time up until 6 days before arrival with a full refund. A room only reservation can be converted to a package and then the package rules apply (45 day before arrival cancellation / change policy and a $200 deposit).

Hope this helps as we sit here waiting for discounts.

Speedyf - since you have all those dated for each year, would you also happen to have what the discount was each of those times?

I know this was geared to speedyf- but the info was probably from Mousesavers. I know that is where I have seen it-and it gives you what the discounts were and for who they were too! Speedy mentions that those were general public discounts, not AP or AAA, or florida, etc...

we are confirmed... 9 nights at POR, Feb 6th to Feb 15th with the AAA rate. We have all our ADR's made, icluding BBB and CRT for lunch on Valentine's Day for DD9 and DD5. Not sure what DS2 will be doing but he is happy with a bag of candy!
WE also snagged really great flight deals $118 (139 after fees) from Newark to Orlando on Continental.
We are set. Now I just have top wait and see what deals come out in the next month and see if they are "worth it".

We will be at the CR Feb 6-13th! Made all our ressies- now just waiting for a discount! Goooo Discount!

Thank you Wendy, I hope we run into each other!!! Did you post your itinerary to see if we are parkin' it anywhere similar one day?

I can tell you on the actual date-March 7, 2008, it may be good I'm home, b/c I may be sobbin' all day long!!!
Lori

I know, I'm sure we'll see each other!! I haven't posted our Itenerary yet - It's actually saved on the other comp. and I'm too lazy to move it to the laptop!!!! But, I will!

Yeah, I knew the date was March sometime, I'd seen you post that..... it's gonna be a good cry though!!! ;)

I'm not sure if there were room only discounts since we booked a package, but for the last 2 years the package discount was park hoppers, waterparks and more free, we also got a SLIGHT room reduction. Someone will come along who knows if there were other discounts.

I'm booked right now with a AAA package and the rate is really good - Disney will have to put out something really exceptional for me to change it.

But, Lori is right, we are all watching and as soon as anything comes out we'll get it posted!!!! I'd expect something next month or into early Nov. --

DON'T HOLD ME TO THAT THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

<sigh> :confused3 What now? I've booked my room only AAA discounted room. I've made all my ADRs (subject to change ;) ) and I've "tentatively" planned our days. (Who am I kidding, it ain't tentative!). I've read practically every thread on the DIS boards. I've read the 2008 Unofficial Guide (yes, I preordered it on amazon).

I've started a homemade autograph book for my DD4. I've started buying clothes in the kids (hopefully) sizes for February. I've even purchased a few things to have as a special goody bag for the kids for the trip.

Now what? I am sitting here pathetically checking my email every day to see if there is a new code out. :surfweb:

:sad2: I am a sad and helpless case. I need therapy. I also need something else to DO for my trip! I cannot wait four months, three weeks and whatever days it says in my ticker.

I know I'm not alone, right? Right? :)

Yeah, you're not alone. I have everything done as well. Plane tickets bought, hotel & townhouse reserved, already have park tickets from last time, have ADR's made, have car rental reserved.... I NEED to plan something else!!! :lmao: :rolleyes1 I am dying to see if they are going to have a P&PP while we are there though!

Lori

I did get those dates from Mousesavers. Unfortunately, Mousesavers does not keep track of exactly what discount was offered.

I did manage to search back through the Disboards and found this specific information about the general public package discount:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disney is offering discounted vacation packages for stays 1/1/07-3/8/07 (1/12/07-1/14/07 may be blacked out). The packages include discounted accommodations and Magic Your Way tickets, plus FREE Park Hopper and Water Park Fun & More ticket upgrades. The ticket upgrades alone are worth $101.18 per person.

Some sample savings:

Two adults and two children (ages 5 & 7), preferred room at All-Star Sports, 6 nights/7 days (1/14/07-1/20/07), with Dining Plan - savings of $97 on the package, plus FREE ticket upgrades valued at $404.72 (Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More options added to all 4 tickets for no extra charge).

Two adults and a Junior (age 15), standard room at Port Orleans Riverside, 6 nights/7 days (2/18/07-2/24/07), with Dining Plan - savings of $175 on the package, plus FREE ticket upgrades valued at $303.54 (Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More options added to all 3 tickets for no extra charge).

Other resorts, room types and dates are available at varying savings.

You must book by 12/16/06. No group rates or other discounts apply. The number of rooms allocated for this offer is limited. Tickets and options must be used within 14 days of first use. Water Parks subject to seasonal and weather closures.

Thanks to Small World Vacations for info.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

So...based on the above information....if you were staying at a value resort during value season....you would get a free upgrade on your tickets from base to hopper, waterparks, and more....and you would get about a $16.16 discount on your room after tax per night.

Since a value resort is $82 per night before tax and $92.66 after tax....your after tax per night room rate would have been $76.50.

The AAA rate is $74.13 after tax....so, you would have paid and extra $2.37 per night (total) and would have received a park ticket upgrade.

Here is a link to the thread. There are a few other posts with specific discounts on specific rooms that you may be able to cross reference. I will try to dig up any other posts with discounts from that time period as well:

I dug up a couple more posts from this board regarding January / February 2007 discounts:

New Package for Disney Visa Holders (which was also offered to the general public a few days later):

Thread relating to AP discounts for Feb 2007:

I haven't read through either thread...but, some of the different resorts and dates may help some of you.

Your so not alone!!! I am in the same boat, I keep questioning my ADRs and tentative plans and have finally decided to just leave them alone. I dont know what to do with myself. I started our countdown calendar and have 47 days to work on it we will start our countdown at 100 days. The only thing keeping me sane is reading all the great trip reports out right now.

Hey Sabrina- what kind of coutdown calendar are you making? I was thinking links, but not sure!

I am there with you all-I don't have airline tickets as of yet. DH has 1 free flight with SWA and will get one more in October. Plus, we are waiting for a DING!. Our plan is to drive, unless ALLLL of that can fall into place for us-it is a bit confusing. DH says, "honey just calm down and lets wait it out and see", otherwise, we'll pack up the car.
My tickets are ordered, my hotel is booked, I have my AP, I made my few ADR's, my Disney savings is increasing every other week,I am on a POP fridge swap just in case we fly(if not I will get it anyway!, but also bring my own), the matching t-shirts bought, and special t-shirts are in the works. I just ordered those rubber bracelets with my kids info and my phone #'s on it just in case one is lost, AND I am patiently awaiting a Disney Visa.

I am copying ChrisLei's idea, you can see it here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1500946&page=7http:/ scroll down to post 94. It is really cute, she was even so kind as to put up instructions on Post 124 here http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1500946&page=9

We haven't bought our flights yet I was waiting for the fares to go down after the summer. They havent gone done enough yet so I might just wait until the week after the new year when they really drop. We dont have a choice, there is no way I am taking a 5 or 6 day drive

Thank you!! That is too cute. I may make our own version of it! Ironically- my supervisor(who saves gel bottles for me for decoupaging and cardboards for my kids projects) found some very think nice cardboard for me and saved them. I am the office recycler! (I am an echo tech PRN)
I don't recycle at home, so I guess this is my contribution! We love to make things-anything(even if we can't keep it all-sshhhh!)

Hi there. For anyone that has called already, does anyone know what the AAA room-only rate for Feb '08 would be for the Wilderness Lodge or Port Orleans FQ{don't need tix, just the room}. I know I can just call, but I figured maybe some others have already gotten quotes. Thanks.
