FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

We changed our ressies to POP(from ASMovies)!!! I am so excited. Going Feb 1-10. Since we are going in cheerleading season (the beginning) and I like that they don't allow groups! I was happy to hear from the CM that we had 5 rooms booked for our Grand Gathering. I only KNEW about 4 of them- us, my brothers family and his MIL and SIL, and my cousin's family. The 5th party may be my aunt and uncle, not sure. We are hoping that we have 2 more rooms booked by the time we go.

Cannot wait to BOOK something on August 5th!

Lori

YAY!!! :cheer2: Grand Gatherings sound like so much fun. I wish we could convince more of our family and friends to go. But then again if we have to convince them then maybe we shouldn't.:confused3 :rotfl:

Lori, that is good to hear. We just changed from ASMu to POP and didn't know about thier group rules. That is nice to hear. We will be there Jan 1-6 and hope to see a code come soon.

Question; If I'm not AAA or AP, what are the odds of a discount?

Just wondering what kind of cheerleading or sports things will be going on Jan 31 2008 to Feb 4 2008? We have res. for the allstar movies. Hope it want be too crowded. Some friends of our went sometime in late April and they said the allstar sport was really bad, because sooooo many sports things going on. They said around 3am kids would come and bang on their doors. Hope this don't happen to us.:cool1:

You may have to just do a periodic google search for something like "Disney February 2008" and see what comes up. If I remember correctly, I think the cheerleaders that will be there that week (or weekend) is on the college level. Surely, they would be better behaved. But like I said before, we were there during the High School Nationals and didn't see any mis-behaving at all. However, we weren't staying at the same hotel so I can only speak of the parks.

Hey Lori!! What did you hear about Aug. 5th???? I'm also waiting to book our package - I had heard sometime in aug. or sept. the package rates would be out......... the 5th would be good!!!!

Cannot wait to BOOK something on August 5th!

We're staying at the Poly from 2/7 - 12. Do the cheerleading groups usually stay at all resorts, or are they usually limited to the values? I would be furious if someone was knocking on my door at 3 a.m. If they wake up my 22 month old, they'll need to get him back to sleep! ;)

I think most groups like this stay at the values and then the more groups they have the more they filter over into other hotels. Last year we were going to stay at AKL but they were booked up for a builders convention. I was told the builders were there because the values were booked with cheerleaders and dancers. We wanted to stay an extra night so we looked elsewhere and came up with OKW. There were no groups at OKW at all! I can't say for sure but I doubt that they would filter over to the monorail resorts.

We've been the last 4 years in a row at that same time - the only "problem" we encountered was the "practices" in the very early AM & the sheer number of kids at the allstars!!!! Last Feb. we were at ASMus. for a couple of days ( we added days onto our trip and moved over there from AKL - MISTAKE) there were national dance teams there, and WOW there were a LOT of them!!! As for behavior, nothing really bad, just a lot of kids - being kids!! I"ve looked at thier site and see nothing so far for our dates (Feb. 2-10). I don't see anything about the cheerleaders yet either, but they are always there during that timeframe. Usually the parks are not too bad at all....... they have competitions during the day so they are not at the parks. Again, I'd say the only thing is just the massive number of kids at the resort, it took us FOREVER to order food one night at the food court, no kidding there must've been a hundred kids in there!!!

Just wondering what kind of cheerleading or sports things will be going on Jan 31 2008 to Feb 4 2008?

I agree with blueyed girl - typically the groups are at the Allstars and some may filter over to the mods. We were at AKL for our trip last year - none were there, but then we added some more days and had to move over to ASMus. there were TONS of kids there. They were not bad and we had no problems except for the night we decided to eat in the food court.......... big mistake!!!!!

About a week ago, and am paying $298.13 a night!:scared1: Hope we get a code for Feb.!:rolleyes1

Early feb. is off season which means the rates are lower at the resorts. The deals or codes for that timeframe won't come out for awhile, we should see something after christmas IF something even comes out. The past couple of years for that time the PACKAGE deal was getting the park hopper upgrade, waterparks and more, with a slight room discount. As for room only resv. discounts, I do not know - we've always booked a package. Keep checking the boards or mousesavers, when a code comes out it is usually posted VERY quickly! I'm sure Lori will post it here when it comes out!!! I think on the first page of this thread she posted the dates for when to make ADR's - note that on your calendar!!!

Hi....just looking where to even start searching for codes and historically how sweet are the deals?

We have never stayed at a Disney resort before. We are looking a two nights in early Feb and would love to stay in a moderate or deluxe.

Thanx.....

~swt~

Just wondering if you tried for AKL?? We want to stay there but are concerned about the construction. We may be over at WL too - unless I can convince DH that the POLY is where we NEED to be.............. :rolleyes1

haha-nothing is happening on August 5th that I know of... other than that it is 180 days out from Feb 1st-when we get to WDW!!! Sorry if I confused you. If some awesome deal comes out on Aug. 5th-it will be news to me!!

wendypooh and friends- I will post them when I find codes or get one in the mail just so we can all be on the lookout. I can tell you that I will have my PC on 24/7 in the upcoming months, but I don't always check in the morning, so if any of you find it PLEASE post it for us so we can all find out about them. I am usualy a late afternoon or late nighttime Dis'er since I homeschool my kiddos. And since we are starting school on July 16, I am hoping someone lets me know if it comes out ASAP!! I do use TGM, and I am sure TGM or mousesavers or one of those sights will post ASAP. Cannot wait!!! On another note- if anyone gets a good ding! from Southwest airlines, post that ASAP too. That is a reason to have it on 24/7!! I also have my SIL who is looking out for us too!

I certainly did not mean any sarcasm by my last post. Hoping you did not take it that way. I just really didn't realize it could be taken wrong at all, sorry, friend.
I am stressing over my DD9 right now a bit. She had 5th's disease back in Feb and has been breaking out in hives ever since just from scratching her back or scratching her arm-doesn't take much. Maybe I am stressing too since we cancelled her last oncology appointment due to VBS. Rescheduling tomorrow. Found out it is called dermatographia-that is exactly what she gets. She has a cold too now since we went to the beach on Sunday. I will never be able to handle another illness in her that is normal! I really believe she is healed but when weird things are happening to her, my brain freezes and my heart sinks a little. She will be fine, just keep her in your prayers please!

This will be our 21st trip, but first time to try to book a package. Does the package actually save money?

I am getting a little nervous about this Mardi Gras trip. Our travel agent said that currently there are no standard view rooms available at WL (she thinks Disney has not released the rooms because of not having 2008 rates) so we have not been able to book the package yet.

Hey Lori ~ if this post is directed at me.......... NO NO NO, I didn't find it sarcastic or anything else........ I"m so sorry if I sounded like that!!! NO, I was HOPING that you had heard a date - that's all. YES, we are certainly friends!!!! I am sorry to hear about your DD - I know you've been through a lot with her. If you need anything I can help with or just want to talk, please just let me know!!!! Also know that I am thinking of you and both of your little ones and she's def. in my prayers!!!!

NOW ~ lets get busy planning these trips......... the time is getting short now............... LOL

ONLY 7 More Months............ :rotfl2:

Hey ~ as far as the packages go, We book a package for convenience and a package allows us to get the DDP. ( You MUST book a package with at least one day tickets in order to get the dining plan.) The last 3 or 4 years though, we did get our tickets upgraded to park hoppers, waterparks and more, also a slight room rate reduction - so yes, it saved a little $. However, we had already planned on the hoppers.

It also depends on how you like to dine - we enjoy going to character meals and sit down meals - what my DH did to determine if a package/dining plan would save us is to basically go over our ADR's- we decide where we want to eat, go over the menu and pick what we "might" eat, then add up the cost - then add up the cost of the dining plan. This past Jan. for example we "saved" over $400. Clearly, if you do not want to eat a sit down meal everyday - or do a lot of the character dining, then you can reduce what you'd spend. I would suggest just pricing out the trip both ways.

So, basically - sometimes if you book everything seperate, and your dining habits don't "work" with the plan, and especially if you get a discount code - then that would probably be cheaper, but for us we prefer to do a package, it does save us money.

Also, your TA is right - the 2008 package rates have not been released yet - that is what a lot of us are waiting for!!! AND the much anticipated and hoped for discount code!!!! She is probably also right about the rooms being "on hold".

We are hoping the package rates are released in aug. there was a rumor about late july - but, I doubt it! I just hope it's SOON!!!!

Also, typically the discount codes for jan. - feb. come out after Christmas - sometimes VERY close to Jan. - but, what I do - and a lot of others do, is when the package rates come out, we go ahead and book - then IF/when a discount is released we just have it applied to our existing reservation -- it's VERY easy!!!

Also - on the first page of this thread ( I think it's the first page) Lori has put the dates for making your ADR's. Keep this date handy so you can call on that day!!!

The TA from AAA just emailed me with a quote for the package. It was based on a standard room at WL for four nights, with PH passes and the DDP. The quote was about $150 more than the three components added together. I know the DDP has to be part of a package, but if I add the cost for the four days, plus the room and passes it was less. Is this correct?

Was the quote for 2008 pricing???? IF so, how did she get that??? I wonder if the rates have been released??? OH, I hope so!!! NOT getting my hopes up just yet though!!! As for her quote - I don't know what you are asking really.

**** OK - just checked the Disney site and Mousesavers - no 2008 package rates yet -- so, I'm wondering how she was able to give you a quote???
