FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

Thanks Speedy, I was wondering, FIRST I got no DING! ,even though when I clicked on my DING! icon(that sounds really.... great, don't it?:lmao: ) there was a DING! announcement about it. I have been looking all day today and up till about 3:30, it wasn't there, I even tried the site by pulling up Feb and Feb wasn't available yet. Grrrr. I even deleted cookies, etc... to make sure(I am not real PC literate).
Second- do you think the discount fares will come out about a month before? MY DH has a free flight coming to him in a week or so. His 8th flight w/ SWA (or whatever you need to get a free flight) is this Thursday.
Hoping for good rates and that free flight! Or we will be driving!!!

Lori

Since SW finally opened their flights, I booked a flight leaving N.O. on 2/2 & returning on 2/8. I could only get the most expensive rate because the others were unavailable. Two round trip tickets will cost $617.60. It's a good thing that I booked early because the 11:30 a.m. sold out very fast.

I'm staying at POFQ in a waterview room for $891 for 6 nights. I used a AAA discount. It would have been $1013.72 without the AAA card. I do have Disney Visa so I'll be watching for those codes.

I looked at those SW flights out of NO and said yikes!! I looked around and decided to do a little extra driving up to Jackson, MS (just about 1 1/2 hrs. further than NO airport for us) and saved 222.00!!! With Mardi Gras and a very busy airport on that Monday before Mardi Gras, I think it will work out okay!

I thought about that but Jackson(and checked into it too) is a little more than 2 hours for us and thought, well, I'm gonna hold off and wait till after DH actually has the free flight in hand. Then I will check Jackson out again. But like Speedy said, landing in Tampa was just as much cheaper as going to Jackson for us. I am hoping that those booked up value flights are just a scheme to get people to buy high right now and they will offer them cheaper later. I am willing to take the chance b/c we are really planning on driving. SO, if we don't get a cheap enough flight, we won't be too disappointed!

I have a room reserved at ASMo w/AAA discount for 2/8-2/19. I am thinking of renting offsite for 2/15-2/19 because of the high Pres. Weekend rates (over $130!!). My question, if I modify my reservation to drop those nights off, is there any risk of losing my AAA discount? If I call, do they make a brand new reservation, or do they just take off the days I don't want?

There was a DING this week Jackson-Orlando $54 one way. Dates were just thru Oct 31. Here's hoping we see this again for Feb!

Keep in mind that Gulfport MS is about 75-90 minutes from New Orleans and it has Air Tran flying directly into Orlando. Parking at the airport isn't too expensive either! Just another option for people looking to fly :)

See, end of Jan/Feb is the perfect time to go. When it's -20 blow zero wind chill back home, even 50's are warm to us.

We are from Southeastern WI ( Sussex ) - If you don't mind me asking, where are you from ?

Okay.... I just opened my mail for the day. I got a letter from CBR today. Let me tell you, I was so excited when I first saw the envelope from them.. I thought.. could it be a pin???

Wrong... they were informing me that Starting in Jan 08 the main pook at Old Port Royale will be closed. It will be closed until Sept 08!! That's a really long time to be closed. They must really be making a huge change.

I was hoping they'd say they were offering us a reduced rate, but that wasn't the case. I was booked for a premium room, I wonder if that was close to the pool, maybe I can work that to my advantage. Maybe I will have to give them a call. I doubt however that anything I am offered will be better than a code. Can't hurt to try.

Ok - This is my plan:
Jan 31/Feb.1 - very early departure:drive: (I want to drive while the kids are sleeping.) Arrive at POP and explore the resort taking lots of pics!
Feb. 2 - Animal Kingdom (and hoping for a Pirate & Princess Party!:cool1: )
Feb. 3 - Magic Kingdom with Bibbity Bobbity Boutique for DD6 @ 8:00 and CRT @ 9:00
Feb. 4 - Epcot with Princess Breakfast/Lunch @ 10:20
Feb. 5 - Ohana's @ 8:00am & then MGM (it'll always be MGM to me - can't get used to new name)
Feb. 6 - Back to Magic Kingdom & Chef Mickey's @ 6:45 (I think)
Feb. 7 - Downtown Disney, Planet Hollywood & Leaving Pop for off-site :sad2:
Feb. 8 - Might squeeze in some site seeing or back to MK
Feb. 9 - Depart :car:

I plan to decorate our window at Pop and maybe I'll tie some of my Lime Green Mickey Heads to my rental stroller with some lime green ribbon???? One thing for sure, we'll be wearing matching clothes everyday. Got to coordinate! My husband is reluctantly going with the flow. Poor thing married to a DisAddict.

We are right in the middle of the state, near Abbotsford/west of Wausau. :thumbsup2

I am also doing matching shirts for most days. And my Dh is reluctant too. he grumbles good naturedly about my obsession :lmao: Maybe we will see each other :thumbsup2

Feb. 8 - MGM - 50's PTT

I will be on the look out for your decorated room window and am thinking about doing a little something too

Thanks for responding! I'll be on the look out for both of you (Sabrina & avic77). So far, I'm planning that we wear our purple & gold LSU gear the day of Epcot. If I call wdw, will they be able to tell me what building I am in at POP or is it too early? I payed for a preferred room, but I don't know which building.

okay that makes 4 of us a POP in the same week! We are there 2/1-2/10. I asked for the back of the 60's. Hope that is a good spot.
My schedule is closest to Sabrina's schedule. Same days at MK, MGM, and EPCOT. I probably will decorate for Mardi gras also on our window. We are having an "off day" on Mardi Gras so we'll be sleepin' in and exploring the world beyond the parks.

I don't remember mentioning it Sabrina, but we were in DL in the spring and WOW, LA was gorgeous!! I am heading to Napa Valley in October for business(blechhh!) to get CEU's and not very happy that I have to pay my own way-$$ gonna' be tight since it will be squeezing my WDW budget b/c of THIS. But I need CEU's before 12/31, or I lose my registry. I refuse to take those tests again! BUT OH MY- while we are there, we're gonna' have as much fun as we can on as little $$ possible. Every dime I spend there is biting into my WDW fund:headache: . We want to head to a winery. Thankfully, I am not much of a drinker, but I will have a glass while there!

If it wasn't so darn expensive, I might haul tail over there (to California) and stay!!

Lori

Going for Mardi Gras 2008 as well. Going with a big group and we're going to need 5 rooms. Hope some sort of discount is offered. Any help would be great!

When does Mardi Gras Start and End? We just changed our vaca from Apr to February its a trip for our sons 9th bday and Daughters 8th grade graduation! It would be neat to do something like that!
We are going february 12th-18th! not sure if we are driving or flying yet! If we get good airfare we are flying!

We are also staying at POP - just booked our room this week. We aren't staying a full week - just a few days - here's what our stay looks like:

1/30 fly down, check-in, hit the pool and Ohana for dinner
1/31 MK
2/1 Epcot (Norway princess breakfast) for half the day
- possibly back to MK mid afternoon
2/2 pool time in the morning - then check out

I have one more sit-down meal to book - I'm not sure yet what to choose. I've thought about a dinner at Epcot or MK - or possibly a character breakfast the day we checkout. Any suggestions? Supercaligfragilistic Breakfast or Chef Mickey's for breakfast? Or LTT for dinner the day we are at MK?

My girls will be 6 and 4 when we go - we won't be going back to the room for naps either day - but some "downtime" would be good mid afternoon to give their batteries time to recharge. Suggestions?
