20 DAYS!!!!

Hi Everyone! I never thought about doing a search for other people that might be sailing the 20th until today. I wish I had found your forum earlier. We are going on our first Disney cruise this year. Traveling with husband, dd (11) and ds (8). Can't wait!

Glad you found us!!

Ok, so since this is my first cruise I just spent 3 hours reading all of the posts here to learn fun stuff. Since I missed the FE I am wondering if we should still decorate our door (i really had no idea this was even done). And what do door decorations consist of? Thanks!

since it's so bloody cold up here, -29C (-20F) I am home doing tax stuff. Uuuugh! -32C tonight!

For the last 2 cruises we made a magnet to go on our door. We got a full sheet magnet (I think @ Staples or Walmart) and copied a Disney Cruise Line logo and added our names and cruise info such as date and ship, and ran it thru the printer. We had lots of comments on it. You will see lots of great designs throughout the ship.

A search of the cruise forums for door decorations should net you some photos of some.

Welcome to the thread!!!

Another foot of snow is going to be dumped at my house over the next two days. I am hoping that this is it!

:wave2: Welcome!!!

If you have the time- decorating your door just adds to the fun. Not to mention it helps you FIND your door in those long halls where they all look alike.

As Gord said- printing things on magnet paper is one way people decorate their doors or they just create their items out of cardstock and put magnets on the back. Lots of time they are favorite Disney characters, first names or family name, maybe something that gives a clue to where you are from. That sort of thing. Have fun with it!

Brrrr....although we had -22F last Monday so I totally understand.

This week, as Kay mentioned...we're about to get another two feet of snow basically starting tomorrow and not ending until Wednesday night. UGH!

I just hope it gets it all out of the way so I don't have to stress about weather messing up our travel plans!!! Fingers crossed, and lots of pixie dust the week of Feb 14 stays weather event free!!!

I just want...:sunny::sunny::sunny: !!!

I know you guys get lots of snow down there but is it rare that you get temps that cold?!

Up here it is normal to be in the -20C to -30C and at least once or twice a winter to get to -40 or a bit lower. We prefer it in the -18C (0.0F) range as the freeze - thaw cycle is not fun, too much ice.

You know when you get to WDW and see a small group of people in the pool :grouphug: when it's 45 degrees out, it must be Canadians, as that is tropical weather for us!! :rotfl2:

I was reading the thread from the people who just got off the MV of the Dream and I asked them if they are sticking to the height requirement of 48" for the Aquaduck. They said there is no exceptions and it doesn't matter if they are going with an adult or not. One person answered that her son was one inch too short and he couldn't ride!

Seems strange that a cruise line that caters to kids, and would have so many kids on a cruise that wouldn't meet that requirement, wouldn't fight to have the requirements changed. I know it is for safety reasons but I mean REALLY! They will be turning down hundreds of kids on every cruise. Maybe things will loosen up in time.

Maybe it's just me, but sometimes this safety thing drives me bonkers. :confused3

Hey, that would be great!! I have also heard that it really isn't that "wild" so I was kind of hoping they wouldn't worry too much about the height requirement. Emily says she doesn't want to ride it anyway but I would sure like her to give it a try with me! Thanks for the update, Gord and enjoy our disgustingly cold night tonight!! Can't wait to get to the Palm Trees!! 13 days!

Luckily- the sub zero temps are pretty rare- typically once a winter for a few days is the norm. Sun-Tues of this past week I hope was our only venture into the double digit sub zero temps. Rest of the winter is in the 20-30F (-6 to -1C) range which isn't so bad. Although at this point, 0 degrees (your -18C) instead of more snow would be more welcome. We are having some record breaking snow dumps. :scared1:

As for being in the pool when Floridians are bundled in their down coats...my daughter would be in the pool right with you! Two years ago she was so disappointed because they actually closed the pool at our resort one afternoon in Feb because the air temp was barely above 50 degrees (10C).

Sun will go a long way at this point too!

We have another snow day in upstate New York...I bet we will have another one tomorrow too! Time to get packing I guess:)

Just found this thread! I'll be traveling with my parents, my brother and his family and my hubby and kids (age 6 and 4). Bummer about the height requirement on the Aquaduck. My DS will bo SO disappointed! Too bad they don't have a different height requirement for kids riding with adults. Expecting blizzard here today in Michigan. Counting down the days to the cruise! Can't come soon enough.

Where in Michigan are you? We're from there too. Lots of excitement/craziness about the snow! Blech!

My DS is 7 and not tall enough for the Aquaduck either. He is very bummed, but at least we know ahead of time and he is prepared.

I'll be happy just seeing grass again. We've never had snow on the ground this long!!!

OMG....more snow in Mass...I can't take it anymore! I think since mother nature has been a little evil lately that she should bless us with lots of sunshine and warmth in Florida! I'll take 80's mostly sunny! A girl can dream right??

Probably no school again tomorrow...I guess it will be a good day to start packing! Can't wait to see you all!

This girl is dreaming too! I usually love this snow and winter too! But, enough is enough...and that groundhog tomorrow better forecast an early Spring!
