How is everyone doing? Any fun summer plans?
We've been hiking every Saturday.
Chris managed to get a 5 day holiday weekend for the 4th of July and we will be heading to my BIL's house just outside of Houston. I guess as of now the plan is to head to Galveston on the 4th so I cant wait too see how crazy that day will be there! We may try the new Pleasure Pier but not on the 4th.

The island will definitely be crazy, especially along the Seawall! But festive and fun. http://www.galveston.com/cvb060812/

I started couch to 5K and I have a few races planed. A 5K next week, an 8K in September and a 5K in October at Sea World. Now that I am getting in to running I am a little sad we are not going to Castaway Cay because I would love to do the Castaway Cay 5K! I guess we'll just have to book on the Fantasy for 2014!

Wow, congrats!! Although running is pretty much the LAST way I would want to spend a day at Castaway Cay... Unless the waiter was running away with my Malibu Colada for some reason, lol. :thumbsup2

Chris just got home and it turns out he ordered the Disneyland Kinect game! I have been wanting to play it since it came out but could not justify $60 for it. He got it used for about $10!!

Nice bargain!! So how do y'all like it?

Good luck with your 5K!! Tomorrow right? Enjoy it.....and hopefully you'll have beautiful weather for it:) And Im a little jealous of the Sea World run, that sounds like tons of fun! Im hoping to do the Food and Wine Half next year....Ive started the C25K....getting back into running again and loving it.

You should book for the Fantasy.....my mom and me are looking into late Jan or early Feb of 2014:cool1: Already planning that trip and this one hasn't happen....can't wait for both of them. The Magic cruise can't come soon enough:) We can keep at the running, we can run the deck together:)

My summer plans are a little tame. I just returned home from the June 2nd sailing to Alaska on HAL. It was absolutely beautiful!! I have some vaca time in August but thinking it will all be day trips.

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer so far!! I know it's crazy hot here, and probably just gonna get hotter:goodvibes

You guys have fun with that... I'll be the one lazily waving at you from a comfy deck chair with a Malibu Colada in each hand! :thumbsup2

I almost don't even want to go and deal with all the people. And I might not be able to if I get a job before then!

The Disneyland game is awesome!! The detail that went into it is wonderful. The interface is a little difficult because it was made with children as the primary players so I have to duck down a lot to get the Kinect to see me better!

C25K is what I did. The race was this morning and we had a great time. Chris won two gift cards from the door prizes! I made my under 40 minute goal by about 30 seconds. Now I have an 8K coming up in September and I want to train for even longer distances.
I would love  to book the Fantasy but DH may be getting of the Navy next year so no more vacations until we know if he is going to re-enlist or he gets a job and we can take the time off. However I may book a dummy date for the same time in 2014 just in-case. ;)
And Alaska sounds wonderful! So glad you had a good time. We were looking at an Alaska cruise on the Wonder in 2013 but with the Magic in our backyard it would be almost criminal not to chose this cruise! So I guess that is my next decision. Alaska or the Fantasy for 2014.

I teach a beginning running program 3 days a week. If you have any problems with the C25K let me know. There's another one like it that some people have an easier time with.
I am soooo game to run the decks with friends!!! My daughter and I did that on the Wonder and it was so much fun! She will probably join us too.

Hello everyone. Just booked this cruise. We are Jim and Brenda. Sailed on Disney Magic in 2000. Looking forward to sailing on her again.
:)

I know we're still 7 months out from our cruise, but I am stressing big-time over FE gifts. I look at some of these amazing things that other people have made to give out, and it just blows my mind. I am soooooo not imaginative when it comes to things like that. At what point are we going to cut off the FE list to new participants, so that we know exactly how many gifts we need to make/get and for what ages, and have time to make/get them?

How does January 4th sound as the cut off date? That is four weeks before we sail and should give everyone time after the holidays. So far we only have 7 cabins signed up for the FE. Any other takers???

January 4th sounds perfect. I am planning on checking the "homemade FE" thread for ideas. Last cruise I spent WAAAYYY too much on FE's, so I'm hoping some hand made things might help that out this time. We are on the list right?

Just curious, whereabouts do you live?

Hey everyone!
We are in Houston for the long weekend.
We spent a good part of the day in Galveston yesterday. I just wanted to give a quick report on the new Historic Pleasure Pier amusement park that opened last month in case anyone is coming in to Tx early and considering visiting. http://www.pleasurepier.com/index.html
First we were surprised at how low the crowds were! It's not really a full day experience but it's good for a few hours. They have 16 rides total but we only did 4. Not having kids we skipped the children's rides. We also skipped the log ride because people were getting soaked on it and we didn't want to spend all day wet. The rides we did do were a ton of fun. The Iron Shark roller coaster was awesome and we rode it twice.

After the park we walked down to this store called Murdochs and bought a few souvenirs and had a few drinks on the patio watching the waves then headed to dinner at Bubba Gumps on the pier. If you've never eaten at a Bubba Gumps it's a decent chain seafood place. Not our favorite but good.

So that was my day in Galveston! If you are coming in early or staying a few days after the cruise the Pleasure Pier is worth looking into. If you have kids you could spend much more time there then we did. I know there is another pier in Galveston but I have never been there.

We are off to the Houston Aquarium today!

Hi Amanda! Thanks for the Pleasure Pier review! I want to ride the Iron Shark soooooo bad. And I love Murdoch's... I could spend all day (and all paycheck) there. But I love places like that anyway. Did y'all wander the Strand at all? Those are where my very very favorite places are. In fact, I think tomorrow night we're going to go grab a milkshake at La King's and then go ride the ferry. That's always our mini-cruise-fix. :teeth:

How was the aquarium yesterday?? I've heard it's really neat!
