we are trying to not spend too much money and DGD already swam with dolphins in FL a while back....

the ONLY thing on our to do list is the stingray encounter in CC w/the snorkeling after....maybe we'll do the giant bi wheel thing if I'm feeling particularly athletic that day

I love seeing all of the tickers count down... almost under 100 days!!

For our excursions-
Key West- last time we rented a scooter and toured the island. This time I think we intend to walk around.

Grand Cayman- last time we did the stingray/rum point through Disney. The wind was too strong and did not allow for the sting ray part and we were refunded some money. While we liked Rum Point, it took a long time to get there- I would guess to due to the rough seas.
This time- we would like to spend the day at 7 mile beach. I am not sure how we will do that yet. Taxi? Excursion? Anyone have a suggestion?

Cozumel- never been there before but we are considering Mr. Sanchos.

Castaway Cay- Relax, relax......

FE Exchange



Yes, two of my kids would like to participate in the FE exchange.

My oldest Amber wants to help me give out our stuff We are in connecting rooms. So, I'll just hang the FE (that I need to get) on one of the rooms. I guess the 2085. I doubt we can make a 3:00 meet on that first day. I'm not sure what time we will be at the ship. Our plane gets in at 12:48pm. I'm hoping for an on time flight It was a pain booking anything for us!!!

We are very excited. I haven't arranged a transfer yet. Should I try and go through Disney or book one on our own??

4 of us- Myself rachel 35, hubby of 13 yrs scott who is 37, son kyle - 11, in 6th grade/ adhd, and daughter madison -9 in 4th grade, both kids will be using the kids clubs often ,lol


We have taken 1 disney cruise before this- 7 day eastern on the magic in 2005

r u a teacher? Nope, we dont mind taking the kids out though, they wont be scarred for life... but it just is getting harder..... if the kids are home and i have no day care, i have to take this week off anyway too......

from where do you hail? we live in NH and will be driving....we drive because it saves SOOO much money!! we will leave thursday night and arrive to the hotel friday pm......we like to be at the port for 10am on saturday.....

Yes, it's Saturday. Most of the stuff I read said to get there at least by 1:30 pm. I'm okay not being there early. I can't take Amber out of school. She's doing very well in 10th grade and don't want to set her back. I just haven't figured out the transfer yet.

you and your family need to do what works..But I will say being a cruiser in the past, That is REALLY Cutting it close ... If your plane doesnt even land until almost 1:00 pm...then you still have to get off the plane , get your luggage AND then get to the port...YIKES GIRLY....was there an EARLIER light in the am , maybe a 6/7am flight? or even a Late flight Friday night that maybe even you could dismiss her early from school { i am sure she wouldbe fine/ ok with leaving school 1 hour early- dont think it would set her back if shes doing that great..just my thought}

and using Disney transfers probably works best...ITs the disney cruise line bus and Needs to be booked in advance i believe......

Yeah, I agree. That arrival time makes ME nervous. Your plane needs to be on time & hope there's no traffic driving to port. I hope everything goes well for you!

Will it be even possible for DCL to take their luggage from the airport or is there not enough time if they take DCL transfers? Do they have a cut off time? You could take a car service, but then you're waiting for baggage claim.

HI ALL!!! Welcome all new Presidents!!!!!!!!! I received some new kids for FEs and hope the one that are on the fence will want to join in!!!-- I am getting my kids all excited for it!!!! I am going to up a list hopefully over the weekend-- think I am doing little treat bags with odds/ends of fun stuff and trying to be like Martha and make a homemade gift for each family-- we'll see!
cut off is 12/1- but im a pleaser so if i bend with late comers don't yell
BTW- bought some pirate costumes and dress up stuff for Pirate Night on clearance from Halloween for kiddies--- look around you can prob find some good deals!

I am up for meeting as well-- just tell me the final time...Love the picture idea too!!! my hubby thinks I'm crazy with all this board stuff but appreciates the good info I am getting!! We plan on getting to the ship as early as possible and boarding as soon as they let us so we can explore the ship and have a nice lunch, getting kids settled etc-- have read lots of boards recommending getting on board early to enjoy-- esp- this is our first cruise ever- so we will be overwhelmed!

Also we are among the few who are NOT teachers....

Looking at excursions now-- my kids will love the sting ray meets and stuff like that-- otherwise we just want to explore, eat some local (and hopefully safe) food, and relax!!-- going to look into some of those beaches too!

If someone has a better idea for the meet time, just say so! The beginning of the cruise is better, because of the FE and any changes to rooms, and in case you want to do things with some of the families you have "met" here online. I have to say that on the last cruise, I was with a friend because my DH had to work at the last minute, and we hung out with 2 ladies, one of which also brought a friend instead of her DH at the last minute. We really hit it off, have become very good friends, and met them in NYC in the spring, and spent 4 days at the summer home of one of them, and we're meeting again this Saturday in NYC. So you really can meet people on the cruise who become your friends.

What we did with the photo was to meet one evening at 5:30, so we could take the photo that night before some had dinner and others had the show at 6:30. Really any night would do. Any ideas?

As far as bending for latecomers, it may not be possible for everyone to run around last minute (sorta) to round up gifts....In my case it might be IMPOSSIBLE since there are time constraints with what I am gifting.............Pick a date and stick with it, I think....sad, but true

OK so booked our flights-- very $$$$$$ and I think we are going to book Hotel near Port and bc all together we are a family of 11- we are renting a van or something large!!!!! - getting a shuttle to port next morning....seems to be the most cost effective...

going to look on ebay or etsy for FE holders- had every intention of making one but I doubt I will have the time.............

DW has read up on FE by going through the full thread to date and now understands all and will explain to me (who is a little slower). The kids are in for the FE. Elizabeth is 8 and Daniel is 5. We are booked in Cabin 2118. Thanks to Denise for keeping track of the list which seems like a lot of work. Looking forward to it all and love watching the countdown clocks.

My dh came home with some awful news this week- he cannot take all of presidents week off. I was very upset since we then had to cancel. So we are jumping ship.....

But onto the DREAM! We will be on a shorter cruise that week and on the brand new boat.

Thank you all for your advice and conversation. I joined my new cruise thread.
