February 19, 2011 Magic Western - Presidents of the Caribbean!

Denise
Our boys are listed on the FE, however, our room # is missing
Joseph (9) and Vincent (7) are in Room 6062

Just booked our hotel and transfers for Friday night!!! All that is left to do is our excursions - getting excited!!:cool1:

Denise, my DGD is Lauren and will be 6 on the cruise. Also, our room # changed to 6618. I think the cutoff date is necessary so people can have a finalized list of what ages and genders they are buying for. We did that on my last cruise, and it made the whole FE much easier.

VYANN:

WELCOME!!!!!!!!

You are "neighbors" of MaronVin and I....Maron is on N. Shore and we are in Bellport (S. Shore).....

FE stands for fish extender...you can google the term and see what it is....

they hang outside the cabin door on fish-shaped hook and "extend" it's usefulness

they are used for a "secret-Santa" type of thing where anyone who participates has a FE or a pocket on a shared FE....as far as I know we have no age cut-off but your 15 year old might think the trinket-type gifts aren't cool.....you and she would know best.

IF your kids want to participate, post here AGAIN with names, ages (at time of cruise) and room #'s so DENISE can see it....make sure you appear on future FElsist so you're not left out...

also, for our other "sailor" list: are you guys cruise virgins or DCL virgins? If not, how many cruises have you been on?

Hope to chat with you more as time permits..............when are you leaving and staying before cruise? much to discuss....

BILL

My TA suggested we stay near Port Cana. instead of Orlando which makes more sense to me so we are not rushing in the AM ( we arrive the Friday before the 18th) Anyone else doing this and what Hotel? Its the last thing left to book and wanted to see if anyone had a preference? thanks!

Denise - we were going to drive to Port Canaveral after arriving Friday night, but opted to stay @ Hyatt MCO instead and use Disney Magical Express to and from MCO to the Cruise Terminal. It ended up being a $100 differnce to do this and I actually think it may be easier since Disney will now transfer our luggage from the hotel to the boat and from the boat to the airport upon departure - one less thing for us to worry about!!:banana:

We are getting to MCO LATE and don't want to bother clowning around at the rental counter and ten driving for an hour after a LOOOOONG day...we will sleep at Hyatt, get up early-ish, the go about our business. PLUS, we can stop at Walmart if need be Sat am

We will also be at Hyatt MCO. We get in late w/2 little kids, so it will be nice to just go up a few floors to our room.
Will everyone try to check in for the cruise at the DME Welcome Desk? I have heard some have done this, but not sure if you can for the Magic.

I was going to stay at the Hyatt also bc i like the idea of Disney taking care of the bags etc....and just taking the bus.... But See with everyone in our party we are 11 people- so $$$ wise it will cost a lot more for us to take the Disney bus(isn't it $69 a person?) and stay at the Hyatt right? Or no? what do you all think? Otherwise we were going to rent a limo/van for all of us from Orlando to Port and then take the free hotel shuttle from the hotel in the AM..... I want to book the hotel this week since it seems rooms are selling out everywhere! Thanks for helping me!!:confused3
Btw-getting really excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WCW-- my DD is going to email your DGD Friday.... We have a project due this week and dance/Karate etc.... so she will have some time Friday I hope!

Hi Everyone,

My family is booked on the Feb 19th cruise. It's my first cruise and we're very excited. This may be a dumb question, but after reading some other posts, I can't figure out what DD, and DG, etc mean.

DD = dear daughter
DS = dear son
DH = dear husband
DGD = dear granddaughter
DGS = dear grandson

CHOFF:

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

who is cruising with you? ages? virgins or veterans?

Will you be doing the FE? need to decide soon....cutoff is DEC 1 !!!!!!!

r u a teacher? everyone else (practically) on this cruise is or, at the very least, respects learning and won't take their kids out of school:worship:

from where do you hail?

keep in touch with us all as, you should know by know, the more the merrier.

JUST A REMINDER:

we are the PRESIDENTS OF THE CARIBBEAN cruise

Denise: looks like you'll be updating the FE list again and again real soon....
we are staying at hyatt and renting a car...cheaper....maybe a little more hassle but CHEAPER

VYANN: any decisions about the FE? cutoff date is 12/1/10:scared1:

Hi!

Nemofans, thanks for the translation. That makes sense. :-)
I love the cruise name!

Let's see, this is our first Disney Cruise, I've never been on a cruise, but my wife has.

I'm Chris (40), DW is Andi, and DD is Kyra (6).

The FE sounds like fun, so we're in for the kiddos. Looks like we're in cabin 2072.

We're from Massachusetts, flying down on the 18th so only one day out of school. Neither of us are teachers, but missing school is something we avoid.

The TA has us staying at the MCO Hyatt Friday night, and taking the Disney bus from the airport.

No problem! This is our 1st cruise as well. It looks like there's a bunch of us staying at Hyatt MCO & will most likely be on the same bus going to port!
I am really getting excited! We get to book excursions in 46 days!!! Of course those of you that are silver or higher club members have even less time!
I have started my packing list. Each time I think of something to bring, I write it down to make sure I don't end up forgetting something.

This is our first cruise too!!! I thought the "D" was for Disney!!! So Disney Daughter, Disney Son--- or at least that is what I read somewhere on this site!! Anyway WELCOME!!!

Will add the new FEs over the weekend!!!

Still can't figure out the most cheapest but easiest way to spend the night before and get to port......:confused3

DH and myself have cruised b4 kids. Once on Royal Caribbean, and once on Carnival. We had lots of fun. So, it's our first time on DCL.

Is the FE exchange every night? So, you need 7 items per kid participating? I'm not sure if we're going to do it. I have to figure if I have enough room in suitcases. I hate that they charge per bag now.

We are not teachers. I just can't pull my 15 year old out of high school for a vacation. Cool that we have some neighbors going :lovestruc

We are arriving in the morning, then going to the port. I haven't booked transport yet. I'm not sure if I should do disney or private.

I still have to get passports...:thumbsup2

VYANN:

hurry up with the passports!!!!!!!!!

no, one gift per child per cruise....we would go broke if we gave gifts each day:rotfl2: to say nothing about running all around the ship to each cabin once daily.....although, that would work off the dessert buffet;)

the FE gifts can be small and lightweight although, to read some of the postsin the FE gift thread, you would think you need to bring a separate bag full of goodies...

one nice person made photo albums for each person! they look HUGE and there were a lot of them so she may actually have needed one bag just for the FEs...........I hope nobody here expects anything near as creative or valuable from us....we like what we're giving and think the kids will agree:thumbsup2

anyhow, SOON we'll know just what everyone thinks.....real soon.........:dance3::dance3::banana::banana::dance3::cheer2::cheer2::cool1::cool1::thumbsup2

:welcome: to all of the new additions to our cruise! :cool1::cheer2::cool1:

I have been absent for a while, busy working, a grad class and my sister's wedding and have been thinking about the cruise again...

We are staying at the Hyatt MCO the night before and just not sure if we will do a rental car, which is cheaper but more of a hassel or the Magical express with is more expensive but much easier. With the magical express, do we have to put our bags out the night before at the Hyatt or can we keep them until we check in the next morning?

Any thoughts about Mexico? I lived in central Mexico for a semester a few years back and there was some level of violence, but not like the news makes it appear. Any aprehension with this port?

We are excited for the trip just now a few months away. Has anyone heard about upgrades? I am crossing my fingers for one, but will be happy to be on a Disney cruise either way. :)

Hope everyone is enjoying the fall. There has been a few snow sightings around here, but not yet at our house. The cold weather is on its way..... :cold:

You don't have to leave your bags out the night b4 at Hyatt. You leave them in your room when you leave in the morning, I believe. Can someone who has done it already confirm that?
