February 19, 2011 Magic Western - Presidents of the Caribbean!

vav!:

thanks to you we have purchased the certs and made the reservation with them....we are waiting for the actual vouchers to arrive but the hotel is taken care of......

we arrive mco @ 10:45 or something like that

also, made car rezzies......

when are you leaving for port?

i'll race you there!

again, many many thanks to you for the info which I missed.....:worship::worship::banana::hippie:

wcw57: When you booked at Hyatt, did they say they would accept the certificate even though it is Pres weekend?

I was planning on using Costco's discount. I get 25% off room plus $25 credit to use at hotel for breakfast. They only allow booking thru Sept w/this, so I have to wait.

Glad it all worked out for you!

Our flight does not get in until 11:45, so I would like to say we will sleep in, but I am sure we will be too excited to sleep.

We will most likely eat breakfast at the airport and then pick up our rental from budget. I am guessing a 9:30 departure from the airport? We will head to the port, gas up. Get beverages and then return the car.

Then it is time to cruise!!!

Regarding the other post re:presidents weekend, my reservation is solid. I have a printed confirmation that acknowledges my gift certificate. Here's hoping no issues with that.

NEMO:

yes...as Vav said, there was no problem

I had a glitch w/credit card and had to call them.....issued the vouchers and made reservations, with voucher, at same time...

one night...2/18/11

but they said there were limited vouchers accepted for ANY date and, I imagine, Pres Week is worse, so you might want to hurry up if you're gonna jump in the pool......;)

hope everyone is well

DENISE!!! Adult FE LIST???

So sorry to hear that! :rotfl: We were forced to fly out early too so we had cheaper fares, so we are "forced" to stay at Bay Lake Tower for a few days before the cruise... how will we ever manage?!?:rotfl2:

:rotfl2:

When I called my DH to let him know about the flight situation he said" Well, what is there to do if we went down a couple of days early? :rotfl:

I am very envious that you just got back. My kids and I are going through withdrawl. But we were there last year at the end of June and my husband said no to going in summer ever again. The last day we were there outr DD was asking to go home because it was so hot.

We stayed at BLT last Christmas/ New Years. We loved it! It was so nice to be to close to the MK.

I decided to book Boardwalk this time because we haven't stayed there yet and DH always talks about it. I figured we would try being close to Epcot and HS. How was the AK?

HEY EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!

which car rental seems to be the best choice/cheapest.......

I just looked through mousesavers and checked 5 diff companies....basically the same except for hertz and avis (more $$$$)

we will have 4 adults and 2 kids so mini-van looks like the choice for us....rates start at $63 bt, with all the taxes, etc., end up around $90......

maybe a limo would be better?

any input?????

THANX!
:banana::banana:

Not sure if any replied to your question..... The first time we went down we used Happy Limo instead of renting (we had 6). It was definitely easier then renting. This is assuming your arriving a day early. Also, if you are arriving on Friday I would suggest heading over to the Port once you arrive. We stayed at Marriott Residence Inn....only had to get one room and free transportation to the boat.
Hope this helps.

VESTRACE:

many thanks for the info...

as it turns out, we utilized the vouchers available and will stay at hyatt mco since we are arriving LATE in the day....then a rental car and then.....:yay::dance3::woohoo::woohoo::cheer2:

CRUISE!!!!

Here are some games for you sail-mates.....there will be no prizes, just the smug feeling you can achieve in winning;)

1-who is traveling farthest for the cruise....google map distance calculations will break any ties.

2- who is the oldest person of our group

3-who is he youngest?

4-tallest?

5-shortest? (adults only)

I officially enter myself into category 2----53 at cruise time
and category 4- 6'2.5"

ANYBODY??

oh, and Denise: list?????:thumbsup2

I don't think I am the farthest in Chicago. I may be the shortest at 5'2.

Unfortunately, I still measure in at 5'1" despite all of my attempts to appear taller :confused3 And Google Maps shows us about 1,195 miles from Cape Canaveral from our home north of Detroit.

I LOVED the AKL!! Definitely want to stay there again, as we were only there for 2 nights before we went offsite. I loved how peaceful and quiet Kidani was. This was our first time going in the summer, and I don't know if we will rush down again in August. We normally go in December, when it is more mild. But we still had a great time and the crowds weren't bad at all! I understand what you mean by the heat. We were supposed to go to Typhoon Lagoon one day and we decided not to go because it was so hot & sunny. We all have pasty, Irish skin and we were concerned we would fry to a crisp no matter how much sunscreen we put on! :rotfl: You will love the Boardwalk, it's in such a great location, and we had a lot of fun at the pool. We also loved being so close to Epcot.:thumbsup2

I don't know if we could win any of Bill's categories, the only thing we may have a chance at is my husband is 6'2" tall:confused3

4'8" and a 1/4.....the 1/4 is very important to me!

I take my calcium faithfully....if I shrink, I'm in big trouble! :rotfl2:

And we are 1285 miles to port canaveral from massachusetts.

AKL is our favorite too! One trip we will try an Epcot resort, otherwise we will stay at AKL every time.
I actually was able to book a hotel room for the night after the cruise so we can see the shuttle launch.
Does anyone recommend a car service to get us to MCO on Sunday?

We won't be winning any category. We are both average height, 1244 miles away from port, and mid thirties. :sad2:

If we use a car service from port, we will consider Happy Limo. I have never used a car service before but have read good reviews about them.

I have read good reviews about Happy Limo. I am just shocked by how expensive it is to book a car service in Orlando. Here in Chicago we can get round trip car service to/from airport (which is an hour trip each way) for $160. It's $185 ONE WAY from MCO to Cape Canaveral.

I do not think we win any categories either. But DH is also 6'2".

We are 1291 miles from home in MA to Port Canaveral per google maps.

On another note, I just got a quote from Happy Limo to take us from Boardwalk to the Port and from Port to MCO. There are 4 of us and a towncar is cheaper than DCL transfers. I was worried about getting to port later because of the DCL timing. I also do not want to have to fight everyone trying to get the DCL transfers back to the airport in the morning.
This is our first cruise and I would like to make it as magical ( and easy) as possible. The only way I would consider DCL transfers was if Southwest was a participating airline. But they aren't and they are the only airline that flies direct from MCO to Providence.

WOW.......
Seems like forever since i have been here.

Been a long 2 weeks.
Having an audit at work soon and i have literally been working 4 am to 10 pm.
Probally have another week or 2 of that and then should be back to normal happen to have several hours off today to recoup.

At least when the audit is passed and everything slows down i will be that much closer to the cruise.

I am 5ft even....so i loose that one.
And obviously we are not the farthest away....
But are we the closest so far??

Not the oldest but may feel the oldest from working so much latley.

CANT WAIT TIL THIS CRUISE OUR WHOLE FAMILY NEEDS IT!!!

My DS (17) was in a moped accident this past weekend....HE IS SOOO BLESSED to not have been hurt more than he was...Cant think of a better place than here to send kudos to the man above for watchin out for my son.
He could really have been hurt very badly and he got out with a bunch of road rash and his muscles hurt really badly i guess from tensing up so hard as he skid down the road. When i go to him his pnats were litterally ripped all the way up the side from bottom to top and his shoe had flown off. SO SCARY!!! SO BLESSED! THanks

Dizzi:

Son is LUCKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I prescribe a long ocean cruise to help get over the trauma....;)
