February 19, 2011 Magic Western - Presidents of the Caribbean!

So I have been reading all the posts about those who cruised in Feb- and it sounds like the weather was blah---- I know FL had a really cold Jan/Feb- but is anyone else concerned that we are going to be really cold??? Should we be concerned? Too late now really but- I am worrying a little!:sad2:

I have been slacking on posts I admit!!!!

I have been looking into getting some info on shirts for the family/ magnets- and as I mentioned before I actually started picking up some little gifts for FEs-- anyone want to organize??-- its my first cruise EVER- so I dont think I'm the best person for job!

Still excited- even though it seems so far away!:yay:

Hi all...another New Yorker going on this cruise!! I was on the Magic the week after it got stuck in Castaway Cay for the night, so we got on a day late. Disney treated us all very well, day in the parks, meal voucher, room for the night, stateroom credits, and 20% off as well! We could book a future cruise while on board for 20% off, so that's when I booked this one. I'll be there with DH, DD, DGD, DS and DDIL.

My only regret at this point is that I didn't book 2 future cruises! That lady on the ship had a long line all week. I think just about everyone booked again.

We live on Long Island, in Island Park, which is right next to Long Beach, which is well known. Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Linda-

WELCOME!!!!!!!!

We should INSIST that the ship return us to NY Piers instead of Port Canaveral since it is obviously only NYers who are sailing this cruise....

name and ages of your crew?

EVERYONE ELSE:

has anyone transferred their res to DU? I made the arrangements myself and have been considering transferring for the OBC. Any feedback? Experiences?

The last I talked with DU, they weren't sure what, if any, credits would be available which is why I'm looking for the voice of experience....

are we having a DIS meet on board? Heck, we can have a pre-cruise meet ANYTIME....we're all so close

hope u r all well........

Welcome Linda! Nice to have another NY'er on board:rotfl:

It is finally feeling like spring outside, thank god. All of the rain over the weekend got rid of our snow, but I think it all ended up in my basement:scared1:

I was wondering if any of you are DVC'ers? I was looking at my calendar and I can call tomorrow to book a few pre-nights at our home resort SSR:cool1: It's fun to start planning for this cruise! Any one else planning on going down a few days early before the cruise?

Cruising with DH John, DD Melissa 29, DGD Lauren 5, DS Eddie 28, and DDIL Marie 28. They are actually on their honeymoon as we speak. They got married last Friday, the day before the monsoon hit Long Island. They got out just in time on Sat AM for Hawaii.

Bill,
I'm a little lost, as this is our first cruise, so can you explain to me what DU is and I'm guessing OBC is "on board credit".
Thanks,
Vinnie:confused3

We're DVC'ers too, greatest thing we ever bought. We started at SSR and just bought more points at Bay Lake Towers this summer. If you ever need to get rid of some points or need a few extra this website is great to do so. DW is a teacher so although we'd love to go a few days early we can't leave until Friday afternoon. But we're already talking about using our points to head down in June 2011. We just stopped by the DVC store at Roosevelt Field a few weeks ago and we have the itch to go, don't know if we can wait until next year.

Vin:

Our first cruise (ever) too! DS & DD have cruised before, but not Disney

DU is Dreams Unlimited, a sponsor travel agency for these boards......LOTS of people use them but looking for more info....

LINDA:

will DGD be five or six when we cruise?...my DGD (little ZuZu) will be six years and 3 mos at cruise......

Looks like we will be joining this NY cruise. We originally started with a med cruise this Aug. changed that to an Alaskan cruise next Aug. and then booked this one instead. This will be our 5th Disney cruise and our second western. Look forward to getting to know all of you in the meantime.

myself, Scott
DW Liz
DS Spencer

Whooo Hoooo!!!!
I'm cruising for the 1st time EVER. We're sooo excited (well, I'm excited LOL).
My name is Michelle, DH is Andrew, Flying Monkey #1 Luke will be 9 and Flying Monkey #2 Owen who will be 6 at the time of sailing.

I look forward to gleaning all kinds of info from everyone and getting to know everyone!

welcome michelle & scott!!!!!!!!!!!1111:cool1:

non-NYers will kindly ask permission to board or vessel:rotfl2:

we seem to be assembling a collection of playmates for my little ZuZu who will be 6 when we sail......

scott: you MAY be the "go-to" guy for info on this meet thread with all your experience....i'm not sure

Welcome Michelle & Scott! My kids are also the same approximate age as yours. (8 & 5 at time of sailing!)

Vin- we also own at SSR (stayed there for the 1st time in Dec. & loved it!). I am afraid to go to the DVC store in Roosevelt b/c I know if I walk in I won't be able to walk out with out an add-on contract!:rotfl2: I only have so much will power! :rotfl: I just booked 2 prenights before the cruise. I'm thinking we will try to get on a Thurs. evening flight so the kids only miss 1 day of school. We traveled to San Diego this past president's week and it was a nightmare with the blizzzard we got, so I want to make sure that we give ourselves at least a day to play with before the cruise starts in case we run into weather issues again.

I was also thinking....does anyone know how to alter the first post? Steve is no longer on this cruise, and it would be nice to still keep a roster of who is cruising...etc...anyone know how to do that?

I think Bill had mentioned FE's in an earlier post too...I would love to do it for my kids, don't think DH & I would partake in it for ourselves though. Anyone else thinking about it..

Also, just got our first real correspondence from DCL a few days ago...anyone else! Can't wait to plan shore excursions and all of the other fun things to do on a cruise!

Hi...my DGD Lauren will be 6 years and 1 month when we cruise, so she will age perfectly with ZuZu.

I should also mention that I work at the Disney Store in Roosevelt Field, so if any of you are at the mall, stop by and say hi. My next shift is this Saturday from 2 - 6 pm. We moved temporarily last week. We are in the old Apple store on the 2nd floor near Nordstorms. Our original location is getting a "magical makeover". We are also adding the store next to us, so it will be double the size. We are slated to reopen there in July. The store is going to be interactive (not really sure what they are doing), but it sounds good to me. It's supposed to be a DisneyWorld experience at home.

that sounds so cool! They removed the Disney Store from our mall a few years ago, and we all miss it so much! We may have to make the trek down there sometime and check it out!
