February 16, 2008 - 7 night Eastern

BTW: I told them that my b'day is this coming sat. Is it OK to include that on my ressie. The answer was, "of course, it is Disney". So if you are celebrating anything this month (even outside cruise week) give them a call. (And yes, the number is programmed into my cell phone and I have my confirmation in my cell's notepad).

Do you have to make them aware of B-Days, or is it something they pick up on since they ask for everyones with the documents?

We just had my DD11's last weekend, and my B-Day is on the Sunday the 17th, so if that's formal night, everyone gets to dress up for mine.:thumbsup2

Only 9 more days to go! We can't wait the kids are so excited.:yay:

We are celebrating our Leap year DD's 8th Birthday (even though her Bday is not till the 29th we noted it on the ressies)

I know I'm going to over pack. How many Shirts/shorts/pants are you planing on packing per person per day?:confused3

Yes, you have to let them know about the birthday. You can just call Disney 1-800-326-0620. We are celbrating our son's 16th birthday on 2/24.

I plan to do :laundy: once during the cruise that way we don't have to pack too much. I've checked the weather and for the next ten days and it doesn't look too warm 2/16 Cape Canaveral 72 sunny, St. Maarten low 80s and cloudy, St. Thomas low 80s cloudy and showers.

I'll probably pack 4 pants, 2 shorts, 2-3 capris, and a sweater, the ship's air-conditioning is very cool.

I'm hoping to get everyone to pack or at least get everything out so I know it still fits this weekend. But our oldest daughter's baby shower is this Saturday, that will keep us busy. (Our 1st Grandchild:cool1: )

So we have lots to be excited about.:cheer2: We leave one week from today!!!

Sandra

I would suggest letting them know anyway. When we are board three years ago in February, we needed to remind them. Better safe... :-)

It's best to let them know--the computer is set to tip them off if the B'day is during the sailing, but if you are celebrating one from the week before or week after, they won't catch it.

DD had an interesting comment last night. She doesn't want to take any time off school for college visits!?!? I think it relates to a certain young man at school. I definitely like this kid--the school requires 3 athletic credits for graduation. I've been pushing DD to get her last one done, and there was always an excuse. Now it seems that the young man will graduate this spring IF he gets his last athletic credit, so suddenly DD isn't complaining about "underground lifting society" (a supervised fitness program after school). I no longer care how or why it is getting done, but love that it will be finished BEFORE DD's senior year.

OK, so if there is this guy at school, why does she care if there are any cute guys on the cruise?

Sorry, I'm making her sound boy crazy. She isn't at all--she's a serious musician planning a career in music ministry. But a little eye candy is nice too.

Hi Sandra,

I think we may need to opt out of the formal fish extender thing. Running out of time and have not found a) something to hang and b) something to stick inside. We will have a white board on our door for messages.

If things change I will let you know.

Renée

Well Kids,

This time next week I will be frustrated with the kids for not already being in the car. :lmao: Ten minutes after that I will have to turn the car around because my dd will have forgotten her ipod or hair brush or some such indisposable item.

And then seven days of DCL bliss.

Hi Renee,

Don't worry about the Fish Extender exchange. It's supposed to be just a fun thing so don't do it if you are going to be stressed. When are you leaving for Florida?

We leave on Thursday and I still have to make a fish extender and pick up the stuff to deliver to the others. Somehow everything always seems to get done.:wizard:

Has anyone heard from anyone currently on the Magic. Last I heard the sea was very rough and the ship was rolling. I hope it's calmed down by the time we go. Our previous Feb cruise was calm. Let's hope this one is too.

One week from today and we'll be in the town car on our way to Port Canaveral

One week from now I will be on the Magic!!!!!

Finished my fish extender a few minutes ago (while waiting for the mailman). Got one important piece of mail that I needed before leaving--yeah!

Now...packing, getting DD to pack (that's harder), finding extender goodies to hand out, etc. FUn!

Hi Kathryn,

I got your Alien Green Mickey head's last night. Would you prefer to have yours and DDs as a necklace or pin? I am hanging ours on thin line green ribbon (mostly because I do not want to stick anything on my newly purchased cruise clothes.)

LMK what you prefer.

Take care,
Renée

Hi Sandra,

I leave Friday AM from San Diego, CA. My BFF Bonnie and I arrive within 20 minutes of each other. Andrea arrives late afternoon.

As for rough seas, my understanding is East. Car. can be a little rough, esp. in the beginning. When I sailed in Feb. '05 we had really rough seas, and a lot of passangers (including our tablemate) and some crew had a little trouble. I didn't really notice and I credit that mostly to being full of adrenile, using Bonine (starting the day before sailing) and wearing the wristbands. Since I know that worked for me last time I am doing the same this time.

I just came from the bank and got my tip monies. I broke $100 as follows:

2 -$20s
4 - $5s
1 - Roll of Quarters
30 - $1s

If I need more, I am sure I can figure something out. :-)

Well I am off to do more cruise stuff. This is my last true "prep" day.

TTYS,
Renée

Our documents just came in today's mail!! :goodvibes
We are very excited!
Sandra, for the fish extender exchange, our room is 1039.
I just finished Tinkerbell's fish extender, and will start ours tonight.
Sandra, your explanation and links were very helpful, thank you!! It really breaks it down nicely, and was not too hard, and fun to make.
DD helped me choose the fabric. I debated about hanging a stocking for an extender like someone suggested, but decided to give this a try as a mother/ daughter activity.
Happy packing, everyone!!! :) :) :)
Susan

Our cruise documents arrived today, too!! :cool1:
Now its just the many last week details to take care of, like packing.
For the fish extender, we are in room 1041.
Pittsburgh is so cold, it will be great to be on our cruise with everyone!
Back to packing.
Carol

Renee, Those figures for tips sound pretty good. I'll have to bring more quarters because we do more laundry on the ship than most people. I don't sleep well at night and the lights are always on in the laundry so I can read without disturbing anyone. Besides it helps us pack less.:confused3

We started packing today and realized that DD13 has one pair of shorts. No summer tops or bathing suit that fits. Finding those in the middle of winter in Boston is going to be tricky and expensive. Shopping was not on my list of priorities for tomorrow but that's where we'll be.

Glad the information was helpful. They really are pretty easy to make. I'll make the necessary changes to the post pg 20 #294.

Any one still interested in the fish extender swap it's not too late.

Tonight we watched Titanic. Probably not the best choice for a week before cruise time. But we'll definitely know what to do if the Magic hits and iceberg...... find Leonardo DiCaprio :lmao: :lmao:

Sandaneli; I had the same problem with bathing suits, but the Target in Abington has them out already, along with some other summer stuff; I got a new pair of flip flops for the pool on Friday.
JC Penny (at least in the Hanover mall) had suits and summer stuff out also; and a ton of stuff on sale between 3-10 bucks a piece.

We started packing yesterday:yay:

We're flying down Friday; we're not going to take a chance getting stuck at Logan.

Thanks for the information. Where do you live that you were in the Abington Target? We were there last Thursday but I didn't realize then that she didn't have clothes.

We are going to the Hanover Mall today to try JC Penney and Old Navy.

We are leaving on Thursday night for the same reason. Logan can be a nightmare and you never know if it's going to snow or not. We wouldn't want to miss the cruise.

We leave in 4 days:yay:
