FEBRUARY 14, 2009 (very early roll-call!)

well count us in as the dress up family, got dd a dress from davids bridal. on the clearance rack , i could not justify paying full price as she will outgrow prob in a year or so, and where else are we going so she can wear it again. :crazy2: we wil not be wearing heels, got some cute flip flops from jcrew that look dressy enough for not much $$. i just got back from the doctors with a script for antibiotics, sinus infection, hope the five day regemin clears it up:scared: :tinker: :tinker: we fly a week from Wed!!

:scared1: Holy Sinus Pressure, Rubbergypsywoman! I sure hope that clears up for you. We're battling some stuffy nose/itch throat stuff in our house, too.:sad2: So, as a dressing-up family (and I know there are some others on our board, here) does it bother you when someone like myself doesn't show up on formal night, too formal????:sad1:

different strokes , ya know. makes no difference to me. I think people should be comfortable with themselves. Hardly ever dress up at home, so that makes it a big deal for me. I am still debating my choice for formal night, either a long dress (yikes is that a gown) or a black jumpsuit http://www.express.com/catalog/prod...tCategoryId=2&categoryId=22&subCategoryId=244

Oooooh, I'm diggin' that jumpsuit!!:thumbsup2 I'm way too short to pull something like that off, though. .

it should look great with the tiara!!!! funny story, went to the mall and saw these tiaras at hot topic buy one get one half off, so i got 7 for all of us girls as a chuckle and surprise, so when i showed them to dd she said "mom those are guns around the heart" sure enough they were !!! i am glad she noticed as i am sure we would have been quite the gun moll princesses!!took them back and got the non gun version!! guess i should shop with my glasses on!! i honestly did not see that. i still laugh when i think of that scenerio!!:rotfl2: amazing at all the disney stuff they carry at hot topic. great stuff for pirate costumes also.

Oh my goodness! That was too funny!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: And that jumpsuit is smokin'! Alas, I too could never pull that off either, Jodi.

Hot Topic...what kind of pirate stuff do they have? I think we have one in our mall, but i've never been in there.

Jennifer W,
My DW and I also believe in the minimalist way. We should be able to get a family of 6 into 2 large suitcases and a fold over for the 11 days. This vacation, we believe in the minimal staples of t-shirts and swim suits.

We are also bringing semiformal attire for the formal nights. I do have a couple of Tuxs at home but I just don't want to schlep them to WDW and the cruise for one night of dress up. I find it just so much more important to have pirate garb than a penguin suit:rotfl2: I am bringing a sportcoat and Khakis for formal night and Palo(a must).

The family is really fired up for the trip. The kids won't stop talking about it!! We're airborne in 8 days!!!:cool1:

Ditto, ditto, ditto, except we will have 4 suitcases plus a garment bag. Toddlers have HUGE packing requirements...(and their moms). ;) We fly a week from tomorrow!!!

I am not shocked. In fact, we only do semi-formal for formal night. My guys think dressing up is wearing the black jeans with the work boots. I could NEVER get them in Tuxes.

Not without some chloroform (mine, that is)!

Those shoes sound cute! Hope you feel better. The winter crud is going around here, too, but my family is under strict orders NOT to pick anything up or bring anything home! :rotfl2: I was wondering if I had a sinus infection, too (4 weeks of not feeling well), but now I am good. Can they eventually clear up on their own? I sure wouldn't want to fly like that, though, go antibiotics! :cheer2:

I have several friends who really LIKE to dress up, it's just not me. Good for those of you who like to, though, and there will be a lot of dressing-up people on the ship. I like moderate dressiness, just not formal. I wish I were more comfortable in formals, though, as I do have to do it a few times each year and am just MISERABLE. :sad2:

jumpsuit is smokin' /my smokin days are long over!!! i was just happy to fit my butt into it. pixiedust:

they have lots of red and black clothing, corset type things, at halloween they have tons of pirate stuff, just like a costume store. got a really cool alice in wonderland necklace when i picked up the gun tiaras. i suppose i should really examine it in case it has something bizarre about it:joker:

have had the sinus thing for a couple of weeks and tried to knock it out on my own to no avail. i just want it gone for the cruise.

why would they sell that tiara? just curious, to wear where? Great pirate stuff in kohl's jr dept!!! just got my dd a really cute pirate sweatshirt!

i have no idea why the guns? i never noticed them, i just saw the big heart and grabbed a bunch, talk about being in a hurry. :lmao:

We are dressing up....Tuxes for all the men(3) and boys (2). My 2 dresses and one pair of shoes cost me $50 total...so I am fired-up about that. One of the dresses I wore to a wedding last february.

Nowadays it is so hit or miss. Almost anything is acceptable for dress these days... Just look at how the young kids are dressing at weddings! (I am talking about the 20-something crowd).
I have cocktail type dresses, not floor length gowns. This will be my only chance to get this decked out this year.....and I kinda like it. But NO nylons or stockings...!! My oldest daughter is wearing flip-flops with her dress.

And yes, I have travel size hot rollers! I take them everywhere. I have had them for about 10 years and use them all the time...I love 'em.
:hyper: :hyper:

ps. i have mini tiaras for my girls....no guns though!!:rotfl2:

We're dressing up too. At least the guys are. Got some $15 tuxes on eBay and DH still has his from our wedding 8 years ago (I hope it fits!). I'm just a sucker for my guys in penguin suits. Too cute!

I got a cocktail dress for like 80% off. There are some good deals out there nowadays. Must stay away from stores....

I don't think any of us will have proper footware. We'll just crop our feet out of all photos.

Jennifer W- I was looking at previous posts for something and came across a post you had about one of your sons playing guitar. My dh is a classic rock to heavy metal singer! Karyoke (did i spell that right ?sorry i am half asleep!)night will be a blast if i can get him up there! With some proding i usually can! Hope your packing is going ok!My dd is so excited! She just caught me putting hs musical stickers on my door magnets!

Congradulations Jen. Nice recap report. Hope you all don't expect this old lady to do any running. The only running here is the sewing machine, the vacumn or the dishwasher.

oh my goodness, again!!! That is too, too FUNNY!!! I would not have picked out the guns from that picture, either. Angelic looking girl...tiara. Equals I need one for my cruise! Feeling your pain, rubbergypsy!!! Good thing we have kids to point out our mistakes, huh??? Speaking as a mother of a tween and a teen, I know from which I speak!!! :rotfl2:

Again, yowza! :crazy2: Just noticed the tattoos all over the "angelic looking girl"!!!!!!!!! Guess we need glasses at times for our "mom-dar", huh??? Doh! (wishing there was a smiley smacking itself in the head...)
