February 13, 2011 - 7 Night Mexican Riviera Sailing on the Wonder

15 days!!!

I have a few questions....

1) Does anyone know about tendering in Cabo?
I'm curious how long before arrival people start lining up, then how long to wait in line and tender in.

We don't get to Cabo the first time till 11:30am, which to me is late...plus we have early dining so have to get back on the ship by 4pm at the latest...

Then the 2nd day we have to leave really early...like 1:00pm...
Just tryying to figure out time frames.

2) What time do they start boarding at the port? I want to get on the boat early for lunch, Palo ressies etc., but I don't feel like waiting around for hours with the kids...

Enjoy the weekend!

I know nothing about tendering except that dcl excusions and concierge guest get priority tending before passengers venturing out on their own

This is a tough one as it is formal night. we are in the same boat "pun intended" :) My older kids wil love the late start to our day. I think I will have everyone's clothes out and ready so we can just hop into them quick. Maybe try to get photos done after dinner. If formal night is not important to you an alternat dinning choice is an option ( I feel this is what my family will want....could be our 1st disagreement)

Boarding usually starts around 12:00. No exact time as they will board as soon as they are ready. If you arrive at port at boarding time you will have a short wait. If you arrive around 1:00 you will just walk right on
Enjoy the weekend!
A quick look at some old navigator shows changes to dining/palo starting at 12 on some sailings and 1 on others
We will go early to try to get a port upgrade. I'm still trying to figure out what time to get there to be near the front of the line without being in the way of the families still disembarking. Hopefully those returning tomorrow will have more info for us
Just found a post from the 2 night cruise to know where. Port opens about 10. Boarding for concierge began at 11:45

24 hours left to get in on the FE exchange!

gfyjny, starshipdelphi and allison K are you guys still in?

And if anyone is having second thoughts and doesn't want to participate anymore please let me know. :)

I would also like to add our other stateroom 5008 2 adults, 3 kids, 2 girls (7&10) boy (9)

Thank you for the answers!!
Great idea to lay out the formal clothes before heading into Cabo.

I'm thinking 11:00am might be a good port time for us, leave our house at 10:00am, that way we can coffee, breakfast and not rush to the port to wait around.

Another question about lunch, a lot of people say they like to eat at Parrot Cay for lunch on embarkation. Why? Is it menu order or is buffet the only option? What are the other choices?

I am getting so excited...had the kids try on pirate costumes last nite and I bought 3 bathing suits yesterday...

Parrot Cay is still a buffet, but they will show you to a table where you can stash your stuff and then go get food, they'll also get your drink order. Beach Blanket Buffet you have to find your own table etc, but you can sit outside if it's nice...which I kind of liked.

FE signups are closed!

There are 15 confirmed staterooms participating, 29 adults and 30 children. I'm waiting to hear from two others so it could be a total of 17 staterooms participating; 33 adults and 33 children.

Breakdown of rooms and such is here

Anyway it goes I think it's a great size for an exchange. :yay:

I hope to be able to upgrade at the port but will only do it if it isn't too expensive. I've never cruised in any room other than a standard inside stateroom or the deluxe inside stateroom. It would be so nice to have a veranda just once. I would really use it on this cruise since it is just DH and myself - no kids. Oh well, I have bigger worries, like our plane getting delayed and causing us to miss the cruise entirely. But, trying not to worry too much about that - it's hard, I'm a worrier:rolleyes:

I'm hoping to upgrade from a Cat 5 to a Cat 4 or even better 3. Should I be successful my room will be available to you. :thumbsup2
It looks like there are a fair number of upper category staterooms still available on our cruise. Don't worry purplejewel you may get delayed but I'm sure you will make it!

Question about FE's.....I have started to sort my stuff and realize that this plan will require an additional suitcase:scared1: Oh well my kids will love it. dd is already trying to lay claim to every item I have :rotfl:

Will we post names on the spread sheet so we can sort items or will we just label them "boy 9" etc. My vote would be for names?

Will most people have names on their fish extenders?

One thing about boarding and lunch is they kind of corral you to where they want you to be. If you have never been on-board it feels like you have to follow the crowd...you don't. Last time we had a plan to swim but "went were we were told to go" which is easy to do if you don't know your way around the ship. My family will arrive with bathing suits either on or in our carry-ons. if it is a nice day in LA we will skip a sit down lunch and go to the pool and grab a burger or pizza and some fruit. There is plenty of time to eat and the pools should be quiet at this time. We also found Parrot Cay tricky to navigate with our carryons as we had a couple of them as well as a case of water.

We are beyond excited as well as we finish up the final details of our trip planning :yay::yay::cheer2::cheer2::banana::banana:

Is there anything special on the buffet on embarkation? Maybe I heard seafood?

Are the pools crowded on other days? I would guess cold and windy on sea days.

Is it Cove Cafe that is also by the pools ? Somewhere I heard you could get sandwiches and salads?

Sorry for all the ?'s, first timer here and feeling overwhelmed and excited!!:woohoo:

When we got on board we were SOOOO excited we just wanted to explore and see our room. The food was secondary! I don't remember seafood but I don't really remember what we ate. I remember buying my drink of the day with the souvenir glass :lmao: and I am certain that Parrot Cay had a different day where the features for lunch were seafood. DH brought me calamari and shrimp to my poolside table:love:

Our only cruise was a 4 night. The pools were busy but as my kids are a little older and it was fine....busy but still fun
On our sea days the captain cruised slowly and the water was super calm. Some people spotted dolphins that day. It was sunny and warm. Windier in the evening as it got later and we picked up speed.

Cove cafe is the adults only coffee place ( at least I think its adults only) they have pastries and snacks.
Goofy s Gallery has sandwiches, paninis fruit etc. It is on deck 9. Near GG is also the ice-cream station and around the corner is the beverage station.

I am more that happy to answer anything I know:) Just reminds me of all the fun we will have:cloud9:

Names would be good to know, that way if the FE doesn't have any names on it you could label the gift. Our FE will probably not have names on it...unless I find some cool iron on stuff. I'll see what I can gather from the thread, but if everyone could PM me (or email) your stateroom names and ages that would be super helpful. Then I can send out the list via email.

The extra suitcase will come in handy for all the stuff that you'll be bringing back :)

I think there was seafood on the embarkation buffet, I don't eat it but I think my husband found shrimp.

I looked through our pictures from the other cruise and the pool was crowded on the sea days, but the kids didn't mind. There was only a handful on the first day but that was because it was slightly above freezing (cold and windy the first and second days, but got better as we headed south). Not sure what to expect this time though.

Cove Cafe opens up to the adult only pool deck (I think), they had treats in there...possibly sandwhiches. The sports bar (Diversions?) had pub food later on in the afternoon (chips & salsa, wings etc) too. I'm not sure we ever made it at the right time to try though.

Our names
Me Jeanne
DH-Ramon
DS 15- Demitri
DS 12-Gabriel
Does anyone have any idea on how to let the others in the FE group know if we get an upgrade and change our room # at the port?
I think a group meet would be nice however I am not going to commit to one. On our last cruise (4/10) I was desiginated to bring a variety of items to our meet and only one other person showed up. I was let with lanyards and beads, and a little disappointed at sail away (when we to meet).

Ahh Jeanne that is so disappointing:eek:That would sour the start of my cruise for me:mad:

I was wondering if someone who knew they were staying put could have a confirmation list for the first day?
I also considered putting a note near my original rooms fish but what if someone takes that room and removes my note.
My third thought was taking a pic of my FE and begging you all to search for me if I score an upgrade I know I will be on the 8th floor. However I really don't know how to post pictures and have been too lazy to figure out the whole photo bucket thing.

Anyone have a suggestion? :confused3
