February 10, 2007 7-Day Western Who's coming?

Hi everyone! I just found you all! My DH and I are really looking forward to joining everyone on Feb. 10. It is so cold up here in Indiana and we can not wait to head down where it is warmer. We went last year, same week, and it was chilly all of the way down to Mexico, so we are hoping for sunshine and warmth for this trip. We are cruel parents, leaving our children ages 10, 17, and 20 at home so that we can vacation without them. We are heading down to WDW on Feb. 8, setting sail on the 10th, then returning to WDW for a couple of more days not heading home until the 19th. Hopefully we will see some of you before the sail away party. We can't wait to set sail! :yay:

Just curious...

When is everyone traveling to Orlando?

If you are traveling down on Friday, where do you stay?

How are you getting to the port?

We're traveling down on Friday because I don't want hail nor sleet nor snow to delay our arrival. Because we're flying on points, we're all arriving at different times except for me and my son--we're traveling together. So, because of that, we're staying at the Hyatt at the airport. Got a half way decent rate with my mom's Sr. Citizen rate. We'll take the Disney transportation to the port the next day. We did that last time and we all really enjoyed it--it's like starting the cruise just that much earlier. Plus this is my mom's first cruise and I think she'll enjoy it.

Not too much longer now....:cool1:

We are heading down on Thursday and are staying at the Beach Club. From there, we have transfers purchased from Disney taking us to the port, then after we are taking transfers back to Saratoga Springs for a couple of days. Living here in Indiana we didn't want to take any chances of not being able to get out!

Hello - I am glad I found you all. We (DH & I) will be sailing on 2/10 with two boys (almost 3 and almost 6). This will be our first cruise. My mom is coming too! We are from NJ, and this morning when I woke up it was 14 degrees out - so we are really looking forward to this vacation.

Our pirate costumes are almost complete. DH picked a pirate shirt he loved off of eBay (I have to admit it is an awesome looking shirt), but it is being shipped from Germany, so there is a possibilty it's not going to make it here in time. I am about to start looking for back up shirts!

We've just pulled the suitcases down from the attic & this weekend I am going to tackle a majority of the packing :thumbsup2

24 days to go!! :cool1:

Welcome

If you are looking for pirate shirts, take a look at the link Yankeegal64 listed a per pages ago . . . they had a few shirt only costumes. Or go to www.amazon.com and search for Rudy's costumes. Prices are very good.

Welcome

Ok cruisemates . . . the family still can not decide on an excursion in Cozumel. DH was wondering what everyone else is doing and what you have tried in the past? Has anyone done the jeep or dune buggy in the past? which company did you go with? What about the snorkling trips? All of the Disney excursions seem to leave so late . . . it seems like they will barely get back in time and will leave no time for Charlies . . . !

Is the snorkling in Cozumel that much better than Grand Caymen and Castaway Cay?

My BF just received the 2 mens Pirate Costumes that she bought for $14.99 and it only took 5 days to get. She said the costumes were as nice as the one that her DH ordered for over $80.00.

I think those are the same ones I ordered. They a much nicer than I expected for the price!

We are flying in on Friday. We debated where to stay, but ended up at the Radisson at the Port. We were able to get a suite that will sleep the four of us and my FIL and MIL for less than two hotel rooms. We get into Orlando around 1:00 so hope to be at the hotel mid afternoon.

We decided to book with a private van that will take us to the hotel, then from the port to POR when we get back from the cruise, then from POR back to the airport. We were lucky that all of our flights get in within 30 minutes of each other (or at least the are scheduled that way . . . who knows what will happen on the day of . . . )

On Saturday, the hotel has a free shuttle that will take us from the hotel to the port.

Is anyone, or someone who is part of your group, staying on board when in Port? MIL is recovering from surgery and can't be out in the sun for any length of time, so she is staying on board . . . I thought I could maybe hook her up with someone else who is not going ashore . . .

I think I am kind of overwelming her with my pre-planning! They are not use to being this prepared before a trip . . . ;) But what fun is it to go on vacation and not have at least some of the planning out of the way? :cool1:

We are leaving on Friday and driving down from NC. Just can't take a chance with anything going wrong. We are staying at the Residence Inn. We usually stay at the Raddison but I had read so many good reports that we are trying the Residence. They have the free parking so we are going to cram everyone into the vehicles and drop the majority off with their luggage. Then we will catch a shuttle or share a cab back to the port. My DB, DSIL, and cousin are flying in on Thursday (want to really start the vacation early) and staying that night at the Wilderness Lodge and then meeting us on Friday.

My own personal preference but I think the snorkeling is better in Cozumel. I've never done the dune buggies or jeeps. We are all about the water when we get to warm locations. We did the Fury Catamaran last time and just watched the video this weekend. We had such a blast that it's making me rethink the one I booked but I can still cancel. I'm thinking about calling and asking if there is room for all of us or if it has filled up. I keep going back and forth because the Fury was a blast and that was snorkeling, the beach with all kinds of beach toys(canoes etc) and all the beer, pop, margaritas you can drink. They also had where you could ride horses on the beach for extra $. The ride back is a blast because they have music playing and everyone is dancing. The other one is snorkeling in 3 places and they said there is a chance to see sea turtles and dolphins. it's actually cheaper than Disney and gets back at 12:00. I hate making decisions because I feel like I have to check out every little thing to make sure I am making the best decision.

We're flying down on Friday too. All being well, should be in sunny Orlando for 2pm. We've rented a car from Budget and will be staying at the Country Inn & Suites the night before. We've got the kids suite with bunk beds and Ninendo or some game thing I think. We're going to keep the car overnight and DH will drop us off at the port, return the car and hop on the shuttle back to the terminal where hopefully his oh-so-organized wife will have us all checked in. (This is what I hope will happen :-)

Looks like we've all chosen different hotels.

Sorry - I was to send you the info I received about Dune Buggy. It's on my computer at work - I'll pm you later on. I don't think there was much else that wasn't on her website though. Did you check that out?

Not that I've done many excursions but one thing I've always felt is that they are ALL fun. Last year DH and I won a trip to Mexico and all the winners got to pick two "excursions" when we there. There was a huge list like Full Day at the Spa, trip to Xcaret (natural water park), Mayan ruins, Fury Catamaran, Jeep tour etc etc. We chose the spa and Xcaret. Both were amazing, excellent choices. At the awards dinner the last night, everybody was raving about what they chose and how they wanted to come back - do it again with their family etc. (including us) And that's when I figured it probably doesn't matter what you choose; you make your own fun.

We chose the Dune Buggies - for the boys. Specifically the younger one (5). He loves anything with an engine and all creatures... worms, beetles, mice, newts, whatever he can catch.. bleah. Anyway hoping there will be some "wildlife" in there for him. I think both the dune buggies and the jeeps offer a decent snorkle stop as well. You could call and ask and see if the stop would be sufficient for DH!!

I tell you - our families have no idea the work we go through to make it fun for everyone :sad2: But then again it's fun work. shh :-)

It is hard, eh? :confused3 At this point my husband is planning on golfing in Cozumel and I'm taking my son and mom to Paradise Beach Club. We're snorkeling in KW and GC and the thought of just a relaxing day at the beach sounds great. Conor really really loves the beach:beach: , the sand, the surf, and he's seen the pictures of the water toys at Paradise Beach and he's looking forward to those. I must admit, though, that I'm feeling some anxiety about not booking another snorkeling trip while we have the chance.

Any one with room or name updates for the list?
