February 10, 2007 7-Day Western Who's coming?

Went to Catos this weekend with DSIL to look for something for her to wear for Pirate Night. Instead we found gowns for formal night. They actually had beautiful formal gowns marked down to $30.00 and quite a selection. Would of never thought to look there for a formal gown. Anywho, my DSIL found a beautiful champaign colored floor length gown and got it. I found a pretty black floor length but they didn't have it in my size. So the store calls around and they have it about 30 minutes from us. So we decide we will go down there next weekend to get it. I call my friend in Fl to let her know about the markdowns and she goes and buys a dress. Everyone knows where this is going, right? She emails me pics of the dress she had bought and it was the same one I had picked out! She very graciously offered to return it but I said I could find something else. It was too funny. :lmao: I can't imagine all the jokes I would of gotten from my group if we had shown up with the same dress!

Just curious...

When is everyone traveling to Orlando?

If you are traveling down on Friday, where do you stay?

How are you getting to the port?

We are flying down the evening of the 9th. I would have preferred to fly down the morning of the 9th, but I do not want to pull my son out of school that day (I am pulling him out for 3 days the week of the cruise). We are staying at the Radisson at the Port. We've hired Tiffany Town Car to take us from MCO to the Radisson.

Getting closer! :cool1:

Suggestions from your book thread: I'm bringing Pillars of the Earth, Skinny Dip, Twilight and New Moon... just arrived today. If you haven't picked any of these ones up yet -you're welcome to borrow them on board.

Thanks for the offer! You are just as bad as I am. I generally bring more books than I'll ever read. My husband read Pillars of the Earth and LOVED it, then promptly lent it to his mom who also loved it and loaned it on. I never did get to read it! Skinny Dip sounds like fun too. There sure were lots of folks hooked on Carl Hiaasen.

We're traveling down on Friday because I don't want hail nor sleet nor snow to delay our arrival. Because we're flying on points, we're all arriving at different times except for me and my son--we're traveling together. So, because of that, we're staying at the Hyatt at the airport. Got a half way decent rate with my mom's Sr. Citizen rate. We'll take the Disney transportation to the port the next day. We did that last time and we all really enjoyed it--it's like starting the cruise just that much earlier. Plus this is my mom's first cruise and I think she'll enjoy it.

Not too much longer now....:cool1:

We will be flying down on Friday and should be in Orlando around noon. We have also rented a car from Budget and we will be driving down to the Residence Inn where we will be spending the night. I plan to go shopping a little bit on Friday and maybe stop at a liquor store to buy a few bottles of wine to bring aboard. :dance3:

My own personal preference but I think the snorkeling is better in Cozumel. I've never done the dune buggies or jeeps. We are all about the water when we get to warm locations. We did the Fury Catamaran last time and just watched the video this weekend. We had such a blast that it's making me rethink the one I booked but I can still cancel. I'm thinking about calling and asking if there is room for all of us or if it has filled up. I keep going back and forth because the Fury was a blast and that was snorkeling, the beach with all kinds of beach toys(canoes etc) and all the beer, pop, margaritas you can drink. They also had where you could ride horses on the beach for extra $. The ride back is a blast because they have music playing and everyone is dancing. The other one is snorkeling in 3 places and they said there is a chance to see sea turtles and dolphins. it's actually cheaper than Disney and gets back at 12:00. I hate making decisions because I feel like I have to check out every little thing to make sure I am making the best decision.

We still haven't plan what we will do in Cozumel. Last April we booked a snorkeling excursion in Cozumel (through Disney) that was very disappointing (almost no fish and the ones I saw were not worth it :confused3 ). After reading your great review about the Fury Catamaran maybe we will try it. It looks fun :woohoo: Did you book it through Disney ?

DH mentioned that he saw on a different post that the Fury could sometimes not be good for kids . . . to much drinking . . . ? Sheryl what was your take? Ann - which snorkling trip did you take?

I think I am leaning towards the Dune Buggy . . . though DH is concerned about the vehicles breaking down . . .he has read that they are older vehicles . . . etc . . . I tell you sometimes I think we are over analizing this . . .:)

I know we will have fun no matter what!

Hello all,

Spartanggirl here. We just got a call today from our travel agent and we received an upgrade from a category 9 to category 6. We now get to have balconies! The only drawback is we no longer have adjoining rooms. We will still be right next door to each other in Cabins 6646 & 6648. We were willing to pass up the adjoining rooms for the balconies.

We fly down Friday morning 2/9. Only 3 weeks from tomorrow! I gotta start getting my stuff together.

We actually booked through Disney last time. I contacted the Fury tour operators directly today to find out the times. They said it will leave at 1:00 and get back at 4:00. After more research today and reading other reviews I think I am going back to the original 3 snorkeling plan. I just don't want to get back that late. I want to do the excursion first thing and then have time to shop and stop by good ole Carlos and Charlies. I'll let you know the times and website for this excursion when I get them tomorrow. Everyone on the review board was raving about the sunken Navy ship, the reef and fish, and the sea turtles swimming around. It sold me.

They don't serve drinks until after the snorkeling but when you get to the beach the drinks are free there also. They play music and everyone is dancing on the catamaran after the beach. The tequila and beer are flowing pretty freely. I guess it all depends what type end up on there. We had a few people on our excursion that were trying to "drink their money worth". Ours had a few kids but not many. I honestly don't think I would of taken my kids if they had been young. It was loads of fun for our group but we didn't even have anyone under 18. Someone else might have a different experience if their excursion was mostly families. I had the impression most of the kids stayed on the ship (kids clubs) in Cozumel for our cruise.

Congrats to you! :cool1: Such a nice surprise. I know, it's always sacrifice sacrifice sacrifice!:rotfl2: Where are you staying?

OMG I woke up this morning and my glass of water was in fron of my alarm clock. I thought it was 5:30 so I got up, emptied the dishwasher, made coffee and logged in here. The clock in the bottom corner says 2:30. aaww mann. :faint:

Decisions Decisions. Some other deciding factors:1. The dune buggy and/or jeep ride will take up more of the day. Although, Veronica from the office said they will customize it for a set time you would like to return. I was yearning for a little shopping fix, but figure - really how much fun would that be with two boys in tow? How much of that souvenir stuff do I actually need? But it would be nice to stop in at Carlos and Charlies though.

2. There are not enough RAVE reviews for any one jeep and or buggy operator for my liking. I really had to search for the reviews I did stumble accross. This operator did have a few reviews about breakdowns being less of a problem. Like your husband, I had read the buggies are prone to breakdown. On their website they make reference to using Jeeps in place of breakdowns etc. I figure it's a small enough island, if that does happen we shouldn't be down for long?. Anyway It'll be an adventure.

I wish we could have gone on the DCL excursion though. I would feel a bit more secure with the transaction and outcome. It's funny so many of their excursions exclude kids 10 an under.

Hi , We are booked with Ya'll . I just found this site and thread and spent 2 hours reading all of it. We are Woody and Vicki from Colorado. This is our first DCL cruise but our 25th or so total. We are down with the crew in room # 2511 which is close to Scot's sister I think. I am sure there is no chance for an up grade as it is our first cruise with DCL. We are leaving LAS on a red eye at midnight and arriving in MCO about 8:00 on Sat. and will take the DCL bus to the port as soon as we can. I booked this cruise as we wanted to try DCL and it is Vicki's birthday on the 15th.(1955) We have been to every port several times and have gone with Sotos before which was very good. We will probably not book anything on shore. We would like to join the party before sail away. We have late seating. This sounds like a fun group and i enjoyed reading all the post.

:welcome: Glad you could join us! One of our best friends (couple) live in Grand Junction. We tried hard to get them on this cruise with us, but they just couldn't swing the timing. We're hoping next time (Tim's onboard but we're having trouble convincing Maria she would like a cruise--can you believe that????:confused3 )

It was the "Reef Snorkel" at Playa Corona. We booked it on board. We really wanted to go snorkeling in Cozumel and since we didn't book in advance it was the only snorkeling excursion with availability (we were a group of 8). Like I mentioned earlier I was very disappointed because I had heard that Cozumel was a great place for snorkeling. Apparently the last hurricane affected the marine life. Don't know if it is better now :confused3

Welcome to the board! We were in the basement to begin with.:lmao: I haven't read any bad things about Sotos so I can't wait.
