February 10, 2007 7-Day Western Who's coming?

Yea! My countdown says days instead of months! Anyone that has first dining and would like to link their dining with ours are more than welcome. If you're nervous about sitting with strangers, we are strange but a very fun and entertaining group. Definitely never a dull moment. We just added a 32 yr old, 21 yr old, and a 23 yr old. So now we range from 11 to 52!

Definitely sounds like fun, crazy (and that's good), but fun. Unfortunately we have second dinner seating. We found we weren't hungry until later and liked not having to rush back to the ship on port days for dinner.

But we'll see you at the DIS meet (I second your backup plan, by the way) and those blue margaritas sound interesting!!

hi, just checked on line last eve. for dh & myself to see if our cabin was upgraded & wow it was . we have moved from cabin2566 to 6638.sooooooooooo excited. thanks for the great advice. looking forward to this trip & meeting some fellow dis cruisers. we have the late dining. :yay: :cool1: :dance3:

Dinner does sound fun. We're still not sure what we will end up with, DIL's have early and we have second at the moment, but we have requested first . . . we'll see what happens . . .

I agree with the backup plan for the meet . . . Help me remember, where and what time is our first choice plan?

I keep reading about how lucky all of you have been . . . I keep logging in and seeing the same rooms . . . I know it is unlikely that we will get upgraded, but I still keep trying . . . :)

Who was it that said they were doing the dune buggy ride on Cozamel? Was it Jen from Canada? or was it the jeep ride We trying to decide what to do . . . We've been thinking bout the Jeep ride . . . I kind of like the idea of a little history, a little scenery, a little snorkling etc . . . Has anyone done this before? Anyone have a group that is going to scuba? DH would kind of like to do it again, but no one else in our group is interested. . . Though not sure if he would go without us . . . :)

How fun to have such a large group . . . are they family or friends of your girls?

I just received an email from Kerry at Sotos that they still have room if anyone else would like to join us for the snorkel/stingray excursion in Grand Caymans. It's our group and then 3 other families from the DIS boards.
I think we have decided on the snorkel for Cozumel also. That was the hardest for me. I kept trying to decide if I wanted to go to a beach and then I decided I will be at Castaway Cay on the beach for the whole day. The snorkeling isn't great at Castaway Cay especially after the sand gets kicked up so after debating and debating I finally made a decision. It goes to 3 different locations including a sunken Navy ship and a place where there are sea turtles and sometimes dolphins. They get back by 12:00 so we will have time to do the Cozumel Tequila Crawl and Carlos and Charlies and then I can round everyone up for the Pirate Party! Yea!
Sheryl - which group are you going through . . . DH can't seem to make up his mind . . . I'm a litle nervious about a snorkling trip that only is in deep water . . . DH won a sales contact at work several years ago and the two of us went to Puerto Rico . . . Did a snorkling tour and it was one of the worst experiences of my life . . . I'm not a strong swimmer, couldn't see a thing without my glasses, and the water wasn't that warm or nice . . . So I am a little leary about a trip where I can't touch the ground . . . I think the kids will do better than me . . .but at the same time, I know the water is so much nicer and I will have contacts for the trip, so at least I can see . .. I'll probably be fine.

Above is my Myspace page...scroll down a bit and I have put a video on there. It was made with just a digital camera, so its not great, and for some reason the audio isnt lining up with the video. BUT, you will get the idea.

THAT is why I will be on board.

Anyway, I am off to sunny southern california for a tiny bit. Gotta try out the special limited time only versions of Space Mountain and California Screamin'. Plus I may do a bit of shopping in New Orleans Square as I have NO pirate anything to wear...:confused3

Love the video - Ashley has a great voice! Can't wait to see the show!

LOL!! Me too. Once I couldn't log on and I rec'd the msg that my reservation was in the process of being updated... I kept trying every two minutes, and then.... I get in and there it was ... the same room number.  I've 'gotten' over it now.:yay:

Yes - we have booked the dune buggies at Cozumel. It seemed to have a little bit of everything... jungle, snorkel (on the east side of island) lunch, beer, the mini ruins, private swimming etc. plus the added novelty of the dune buggy. I had found a few threads about the operator here and on cruisecritic that gave good reviews and another DISer has it booked the week b4 our trip. I received the info etc by email just the other day (had to email her twice about it) but I've still to read it:guilty: You see, I keep bookmarking pages and printing off things - my desk (&desktop) is loaded with cr@p. I think it's time to start sifting through all this stuff.

Let me know if you want more info.

We're joining YankeeGal and her 'crew' for Sotos Stingray @ G Cayman. It gets RAVE reviews on a local site. http://www.caymanactivityguide.com/forums/ provided to me by YankeeGal64, thank you.;)
And I think I read that there were two snorkel stops on that one? I have only snorkled once b4 (last year near the ruins - water was about 12ft maybe) and it was fantastic! I didn't know how I'd fare because I'm kind of squeamish when it comes to rodents, fish etc. But it was so surreal. I never thought about water depth at Stingray City- but the pics I've seen - the adults and many kids are all standing in the water. There are a lot of funny trip reports about this stop too. Apparently, a lot of kids (and adults too) are a little shaken at first sight of all these hungry stingrays but it is definately a once in a lifetime experience.

Also, I figured DYankeegal has been researching this trip beyond comprehension and that if she felt it was a good bet, then I probably would too.

How does the saying go? Better to deal with the devil you know than the one you don't  Just kidding.
I was thinking of taking our chances - see who we meet. Our reservation says MAIN. Not sure what that means. If that's early, I hope we don't get the 5:30. But I think I've read that if you're traveling with younger kids (mine are 7&5) you're likely to get this rotation.

Thanks for your offer tho YG, but you've got a nice grown-up table.

my sound is not up here at home - so I'll check this out at work today. BTW, glad things worked out for your cruise.:thumbsup2

Deck right above the adult pool, after the lifeboat drill and before the sail away party (4 ish to 4:30). I have to go back and read because I can't remember if we said port or starboard.

We're doing snorkeling in Cozumel but not scuba. The one we are going on goes to 3 locations (says sometimes sees dolphins and there is a Navy ship sunk out there). All the pop, beer, and Margaritas you can drink after the snorkeling. He's more than welcome to go. It's $40. a person. We don't know a stranger. Maybe once he meets us...

How fun to have such a large group . . . are they family or friends of your girls?

Family: Brother(41), sister-in-law(36), cousin(52), daughter(23)
Like family: best friend(43), best friend's husband(40), best friend's 3 sons(21,24, 11), best friend's son's girlfriend(23), best friend's father in law(62), best friend's mother in law(60), daughter's boyfriend, 2nd best friend(32)

I know what you mean. I kinda panic a little when I get in but I keep my life vest pretty well inflated and stay close to the boat. We just went snorkeling in the Bahamas and I wasn't impressed. In fact I was back on the boat within 15 minutes. The water wasn't as clear and very cold. I just love the bright fish and how clear the water is in the Western. I think that distracts me from the depth. We are snorkeling in Grand Caymans so we were going back and forth about doing something different in Cozumel. We decided to do snorkeling again because they are suppose to have some of the nicest snorkeling and scuba in Cozumel and the sea turtles and the chance of seeing dolphins sold us. We will be mostly on the beach at Castaway Cay so I don't worry about missing beach time.

Yep - we are on the Soto's one with all of you also . . . I think that one will be ok for the storkling . . . the pictures look amazing . . .

Go ahead and send me the info on the dune buggys . . . I'm leaning towards that or the jeep ride . . . the ride we are looking at has a brief stop at one of the oldest areas of Cozumel and shopping at unique shops . . . kind of think that might be neat . . . we'll see . . .

better get to work . . .

Yes - we did link. TA says we have a good chance to be together, but we don't want to change them yet, since they received the early seating . . So we'll see what is says when we get our cruise doc!

You were in Raleigh? Cheesecake Factory is the bomb! Next time you have to go to the Airborne/Special Forces Museum in Fayetteville. It's only about a 45 minute drive and it is so incredible.
