February 10, 2007 7-Day Western Who's coming?

FYI...I was just asking my brother about cash or card for the islands and he said in Cozumel the vendor charged his card the exact exchange rate but his CC company charged him a $5.00 foreign transaction fee.

Ok - I need to create a little more excitement around this trip for when i am at work . . . It is going to be a very long 31 days!!!! I think I remember Yankeegal64 mentioning having the Magic horn on her PC and a screen saver from the ship . . . anyone know where I can my hands on some of this . . . I think hearing the horn everytime I get an email may be just what I need . . . :cool1:

Let me know if it doesn't work. I get some strange looks at work when it goes off. :rolleyes1 I also have the aerial view of Castaway Cay on my desktop and envision myself at the adult beach :beach: :drinking1 when I'm having a stressful day. Who am I kidding? I work at Social Services! :scared: Everyday is a stressful day.:scared1: I hit the breaking point today and faxed my application for another county job 15 minutes before the deadline.:badpc:
On the upside...I think I have finally worn down the last hold out in the group..my DB.:cool1: He said he will check out the Davy Jones pirate: costumes and buy it if they have it in his size (I already checked and they do). Now my DB is 6'2" and will quite the sight in that costume. He kept saying his costume was going to be a t-shirt that read "yes, I am with all these geeks".  I know he is just wearing it for me. His heart is as big as he is tall.:cloud9:

I just received an email from Kerry at Sotos that they still have room if anyone else would like to join us for the snorkel/stingray excursion in Grand Caymans. It's our group and then 3 other families from the DIS boards.
I think we have decided on the snorkel for Cozumel also. That was the hardest for me. I kept trying to decide if I wanted to go to a beach and then I decided I will be at Castaway Cay on the beach for the whole day. The snorkeling isn't great at Castaway Cay especially after the sand gets kicked up so after debating and debating I finally made a decision. It goes to 3 different locations including a sunken Navy ship and a place where there are sea turtles and sometimes dolphins. They get back by 12:00 so we will have time to do the Cozumel Tequila Crawl and Carlos and Charlies and then I can round everyone up for the Pirate Party! Yea!

Better pics when they get home which will be tomorrow

He is beautiful John. Congrats. I had to laugh at the dog pics. I have 3 Dobermans, a Chesapeake Bay, a Wippet, and a mutt. I use to work at a vet clinic and ended up with 10 dogs at one point. Everytime it was "goodnight doggie" I would bring them to my house and try to find them a home. The hardest part of going on vacation is leaving them.

It is hard to leave them because you miss them. But we are very lucky. Right after we got Pal, our yellow lab, we had to go away and needed a place to board her. We asked around and the consensus was Happy Tails --An Inn for Dogs-- was the best place around. So we called. We had to go out and Pal had to be interviewed!!! Thank goodness she passed because the place and the owners are great--a former vet assistant and a pet psychologist. They own two houses next to each other in the woods with lots of open spaces. Pal actually starts crying in the car when we head up there, she is so excited about going to see Kris and Else. :yay: It's hilarious. I really think she's glad when we go on vacation, so she can go to the doggy spa, as we call it!

I'm very lucky with the dog sitting. I use to trade off with a friend but now my daughter has a friend that loves to get away from the barracks (or dorms as the Air Force calls them) and stays at our house. I still worry. My daughter was just disgusted that I was considering renting a sat. phone for the trip just so I could check in. Luckily my other friend that is going has 2 Boxers and 2 Yorkies and is worse then I am. If I had to analyze myself I would say it is the whole empty nest symdrome(even though one still lives at home:rotfl: ). That and the fact that they greet me like I am a rock star when I get home everyday. My kids never greeted me like that!

Oh my god, I just found out that we've been upgraded from cat 5 room 7578 to a cat4 stateroom 8010    .I'm very excited, and had to share. Great birthday gift from Disney :wizard: The only thing is we moved from aft-midship to forward and I wanted midship. Well I can't have it all :dance3:

That is so awesome! Congrats to you! :thumbsup2 Now you know everyone on this board is checking their reservations on a daily basis.:goodvibes

Hello fellow cruisers!! I haven't had time to read this whole thread- WOW there are a lot of people here!! I do have a question though....

Will many of you be dressing up for pirate night?? My DF and I were looking to buy or rent costumes for pirate night & get into it- but when I asked to see pictures of the night to see how into it people got... the feed back was not so good. If we're going to be the only ones dressed up, or part of a small group, then I'd rather save the money & spend it on the cruise!!

So.... what's the deal?? What are you wearing on Pirate night!?!?!pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate: pirate:

I had to add this other link:http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ref_=amb_link_4206612_1&docId=1000041011&plgroup=3
My friend found pirate costumes for her adult sons for $14.99. She didn't want to spend alot because she knows they will only wear them the one night.

I went online to check at my reservation and there it was: stateroom #8010 instead of #7578. This is so great I did'nt even ask for it :thumbsup2. I can't wait, but lots of things to do before that :rolleyes1

That costume looks great! My DS11 wants a pirate costume like that one but it would'nt fit him and I can't find one his size. If my DFL has enough time he will make one for him before we leave. My DD8 has one from last Halloween, so she will wear it on pirate night. I don't know about me and DH. Last cruise in April, I wore a T-Shirt with white and blue stripes and capris. With the bandana they provided, it looked ok. Unless DH changes his mind and decide to dress up:rolleyes1, I will wear that again.

WOO HOO...congratulations!!! :cool1:

OMG! Everyone does need to check their reservations! We have been upgraded from cat 9 to cat 7. Our entire group! We have the navigator's verandas. Has anyone stayed in one of these before and what is the difference between that and a regular veranda? Thanks MinnieAnne! I would of not thought to check if you hadn't posted. We actually started out with a gty 12.

WOO HOO :cool1:  We stayed in a Navigator's last cruise. It's nice. The only real difference was that the bottom portion of the verandah is solid, not see-through and, depending where on the ship it is, there's a partial obstruction on the sides. But, it is AWESOME--it's a verandah!!! Congratulations!!!

My poor DD was trying to find out what room she has and it kept coming up "no stateroom assignment found". I guess they were still updating everything when we were checking our assignments. She ended up getting so antsy that she called Disney. She was upgraded to a cat. 6 and is right next to our rooms. That was so much fun being able to call everyone in our party and tell them the good news. What a really nice surprise.

Yankeegal64

I just checked my reservation again and it says my new stateroom is #8010 but it is still listed category 5 :confused3 Does your reservation still list the initial category you booked ?

Well...it's been an interesting about two weeks with our family trip to see my sister perform on the Magic. The family trip will now just be my mother and I. See, my sister is able to get a Cast Member rate on the ship for family. You have to submit all the information then they approve you closer to sailing time. Well...right after Christmas we get the news that they are not approving one of the rooms because my neice is on one year old and they will not accept any more infants. The guy in Guest Services on the ship tells us to hang on a bit he was sending messages to the powers that be...etc...

They come back and say no way will they allow anyone on the employee discount to have an infant...AND...the only sailings they will allow one are all on the Wonder throughout her contract. So, my sister is in tears because they will not let her neice on board and nobody will make any exceptions (even though we said we would not use any of the babysitting...whatever). So, then we figure we will just look at booking anything on board as a "regular" guest. But, it's so late, they now are not going to allow any more infants on board, even at full price.

I am just frustrated that they would wait SO long to spring this on us. Had they said from the beginning that it would even possibly be a problem we could have looked elsewhere. Now my sister (the mother) and my brother-in-law and neice AND brother-in-laws mother just aren't coming. Nor does it look like Disney will let my neice on throughout the entire time her Aunt is performing on the boat. I realize she is so young she wouldn't remember it. But Ashley (the sister on the ship) REALLY wanted to have a photo of her during a "special" meeting with Cinderella. Oh well...

Thanks for listening to our story. I am still excited about coming aboard...
