We will be sailing in 5 weeks from today! Woohoo!!! Are you all excited?

So, here is who I have participating in the FE swap as of today:

Is my list correct? Does anyone else want to add to our group? I want to get the list emailed out to each of you in the next week or so, that way you will have the information on ages and such. Remember, it is up to you if you want to do one gift per room or one gift per person. Do as much or as little as you want to. I'll probably do one main gift per stateroom and a little something extra for the kids. If you have questions, please let me know.

My boys are getting really excited, my youngest woke up today saying "mom we have 35 more days til our cruise!!"

My son Noah, is 11 and might like to email your son. I would give you his email but I only have 4 posts on the Dis Boards so it won't let me email you an email address. That's weird. We are from Minnesota. Both our boys are athletes and love sports. We can't wait for the cruise. Today was -27 degrees.

I have our day room booked at the Hyatt MCO for after the cruise. Our flight back to the west coast does not leave until 5PM and its a great way to wait out the time until we get on the plane......

Our kids (14F,12M,11F) would liek to start emailing other kids they can meet up with on the ship ... if anyones interested, let me know and Ill get them set up. I monitor all emails.

That Fish Extenders is adorable. I might regret not participating, but the cruise is going to go by so fast, I didn't want another thing to worry about.



Here is a picture of my FE in case anyone needs a visual as to what a Fish Extender is. I've seen some that are more elaborate and some that are more simple (even no-sew ones where you just get fabric and glue pockets on) and you could even use a handled gift sack if you had to. Wow, -27, yikes! Maybe I shouldn't complain about our +20s here. By the time we leave for the cruise we will likely be in the single digits and teens. I think we are all due for some sun. You know that those of us who are coming from cooler weather will be the people in t's and shorts/capris, while others will be bundled up when it is 60 degrees or so in Florida when we board the ship. I can't wait for 60s, and will be ecstatic in the 70s.

Happy New Year everyone. Finally, 2010 is here and our cruise is just around the corner. We are getting soooo excited.

I made 3 fish extenders for Christmas presents and I think they turned out pretty good. I'll try to post a picture when I get them back from my kids. My question is how long the ribbon (or string) should be to hang over the fish?

Sorry you never got your question answered. I just measured the ribbon on mine and it is about 24 inches long (it goes through the top of the FE, so if yours doesn't you don't need it as long). I'd love to see pics of your FEs (or I guess I could be patient and see them in person next month).

Thank you for the reply Shauna. I thought I had my ribbon too short!! I still need to take a picture of them. I am soooo slow on that job. Thanks again for organizing the FE for our cruise. We are starting to think about what clothes to pack. This cold weather is driving us crazy. Yes, let's have a HOT February 7-11.

So here's a question for everyone:

Do we want to have a meet? All of the cruises that I've gone on since I've been on the DISboards have had a meet on the first day of the cruise. I guess the question is do we want to get together and say hello? I think it is kind of fun to see the people that I've posted with and it is fun when we meet and then can say hi later on when running into each other on the cruise. Here is what I suggest if you think it is a good idea.

Meet at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge (deck 3 midship). The meet doesn't need to last long (maybe 20 minutes or so) or be anything formal, it is just fun to have a spot to meet and say hello. 3pm is a good time because everyone should be on the ship by then and at 3:30 all ship services are shut down to prepare for the muster drill so we won't be missing out on anything. Also, if there are any stateroom changes for the FE swap (in case anyone upgrades at the port) we can pass on the info there. What do you think?

Finally, about FEs, we need to have a way to notify others if room numbers change. I'll post a list on my stateroom door and if your stateroom number changes at the last minute, please come make a note of it. Then, when you are passing out your FE gifts, please stop by my door first to make sure you have the most up to date list.

They look perfect to me. The amount of ribbon looks fine too. I still need to put a dowel through the top of mine, that is why my ribbon length was so long--I just had the ribbon through the top on mine last cruise. It definitely needs a dowel in it.

I'm in the midst of planning DH's 40th bday surprise party the weekend before we cruise (since we'll be @ USF on his bday!) and also getting things lined up to leave our 2 kids...so I'd like to try and have mine done sooner rather than later Maybe by the end of this week?

Great, let's do the meet then. It is great for those with kids to be able to introduce a few kids so that when they are in the clubs they already have a few familiar faces. I think it is great for adults to because I love running into a friendly face onboard that I already know. It just makes the cruise that much more fun.

I'd love to finalize the FEs later this week. I think I'll send out one more pm to those on our thread to find out if anyone else wants to join. Then I'll email out the info. Would you be opposed to planning on one or two extras just in case someone books this cruise last minute? I'd hate to leave people out who really want to participate, but I also understand that we need to be able to plan and get our FE gifts done.

Sounds good to do a cruise meet at 3:00pm. I doubt if my whole family will make it, but I certainly will.

I already have most of my fe gifts ready (with extras) so no problem on a deadline.

I'm praying for HOT weather! LOL I'm FREEZING here and the high is around 47...yeah, I know, I have California blood and I can't handle cold weather!!!
