Feb. 7, 2008 3 night wonder...Anyone???

Welcome aboard to all the new families! I am just typing a quick response as I have a million things to do after this trip!

As far as a meet goes when we get on board, what about around 2:30 or 3pm at the Mickey pool? I know my kids will want to swim no matter what, and that will give those of us getting to the port early enough time to get in our rooms and relax, and then come back up to deck 9. There is also a buffet up there at topsiders. If there are any other ideas, just let me know! I'm open!

I think my son was 11 when we first gave him check-out privileges. He loved it. We went over the route from the room to the lab, and went over rules (he was not allowed to go anywhere except the lab or the room unless he told us where he was going). Now he is 13 and trying to decide if he want to go to the club or the stack.

So, my DS13 has the option of the club or stack? What's the difference? I was wondering about the large range of ages in the teen area. The middle school years are soo trying.

Thanks for any feedback,

Jon

Jon

On our last visit, my son was a bit apprehensive about having to go to the stack this year (13-17)

....from what I have read here on the boards, a 13 yo can go the OC with the 11-12yo group (as long as there is available space). My son is extremely quiet/reserved, so he (and I!) was a bit anxious about 16-17yos there- but if there are enough kids his age I think he will be fine.

From other threads, it seems that the older teen group together, and the younger ones do the same.

I know the OC is pretty organized; I really never paid a lot of attention to the stack before now so I'm not sure if there are as much organized activities. (hopefully there is).

My plan is to let him go to the stack and see if he likes it - it seems like there will be a good number of 13-14 year olds. If that is the case, he may enjoy it. If it is not for him, I will register him for the OC.

It's been indicated that they can't switch back and forth....I'm not sure if that is between OL and OC for those on the brink, or if it applies to the stack as well. If that is the case, I will wait to register at the OC until he has a chance to check out the stack. When I get to the port I will ask...if it is not an issue to go back and forth, I'll go ahead and get him registered. Since you do not register for the stack, it doesn't seem like it would be as much of an issue as he would only be registered in one place.

He will probably spend a ton of time in the arcade anyway! I told him to save some of his Christmas money :rolleyes1

AKV was beautiful, we had a savannah view, and when we came back to our NYE, there were giraffes sitting on the ground outside our room. It was a great end to a great day!

Welcome back - I am so jealous!!! What a great way to start the year.
I can't wait for our first stay at AKL....only 27 more days!

I think your rec on the pool is a good one. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Didnt realize , or forgot, you guys are leaving on the 1st!!!
See my pm abt the P and P Party....we're not going to that:( We gt in just the night before! I have done it twice last year....its awesome!! Maybe its tinks you are meeting?

I really want to try Jiko or Boma....will talk to DH....DS and DD can hang out with the little one and we can perhaps do an adult dinner! We will probably have to make ADR's though! Check out their menu's at Allears.net and let me know what you think!!

Hey yeah it is Tinks we are meeting at the p & P party, will message them about that one!!! me and my brain!!!! lol
As for the meal thing, not sure as we are planning to do Magic Kingdom that evening... however what about having a breakfast/lunch the next day as we are only planning to chill out around Animal Kingdom before catching our plane home???

Welcome! Another 13yo boy!.....we have a few 13-14 year olds....sounds like they will have plenty of company!

I think several are skipping Palo's - we are going Saturday night - celebrating our 20 year anniversary. I think London Couple is going - not sure what night.

I agree with just getting in and reviewing the Navigator. (We live with ours the entire cruise!) There are some sample ones posted on here (there's a link on a prior post). This will give you an idea of some of the events, although it will vary somewhat.

TO ALL: Are we going to try to do a formal meet at some point? (Or is it already set and I wasn't invited?) :p

I will be at the P&P Party on Sat 2/2...I think that is when London Couple is going too - right? I'm not sure what time we will be getting in Saturday to make firm meet plans - but maybe we can exchange cell #'s and try to catch up?

We planned on leaving on Friday night and getting in early Saturday....however, something has come up Friday night and we are undecided. DS won first place (6-8 grade) in an Art Contest for the GMAC College Bowl....his pic will be on tour and will be in the GMAC bowl program. They are having an artist "meet & greet" from 6-8 that Friday at an art center here (while we were going to leave around 3). DS wants to go, and I hate to disappoint him, but we will basically lose an entire day in the park if we don't. I will probably end up leaving it up to him and let him decide.
Hey

We are also doing Palo's on the Saturday.

We will not get our cell number until we are in the US. We have a uk mobile but its so expensive so we have creeped to DB and they are going to send us a prepay cell to our hotel ready for when we arrive. Its so much cheaper . . .
So if you PM us your cell number, we will text when we get there and go from there. Hows that???

I got mine on ebay last week and it arrived today! Really cute too. I have been stocking up on goodies for others I might see...the Target dollar spot has a bunch of cute pirate themed things right now. :thumbsup2

Can you explain this Fish extender and gift swapping thingy to us foreigners . . .:cheer2: :lmao:

Hello everyone!!! We are home, tired, and sad to be back from WDW, but glad because we now cruise in 1 month!!!!

The parks were relatively busy, but not too bad! We enjoyed the NYE fireworks the 29, and 30 at MK and also were able to do the Epcot fireworks on the 30th, because they do them at 9:30! We went to MGM for NYE and it was not too crowded...We stayed until about 1 am, enjoyed the fireworks, and went back to AKV.

AKV was beautiful, we had a savannah view, and when we came back to our NYE, there were giraffes sitting on the ground outside our room. It was a great end to a great day!

We had warm weather the first 4 days, and then it was colder, it got down into the lower 30's at night a few nights! Glad we packed extra sweatshirts and gloves!

Jon, I was able to pick you up a limited edition NYE 2007 pin, and a NYday 2008 pin! I will take pics this week and email them to you!

DB...I didnt make it over to the poly this trip, we were so busy with other things that we never made it over to look at Christmas Decor! So Sorry!!!!

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay, and are going to plan on going back at the holidays again! Maybe 2009!!!

1 more day off work, and then back to work for me, I know theres alot piled up on my desk currently, but its all worth it for the time spent at WDW!

Hey and welcome back !!! I am glad you had a great time . . .
Thankyou so much for the pins - very much appreciated. There is probably pins on dizpins.com to save you the hassle . . .

As for meet, I am happy with that time meet on the cruise ship seems like a plan.

What about us meeting at the P&P party - are we still on for that one???
Would be good there as your more experienced at that and would be able to advise places to go etc - perhaps we could eat as well??

Here's a pic of a fish extender that I found on Disboards...This is a really good one, ours is a store bought one, that I customized...I'm not that talented! There is a fish outside of your cabin that Disney uses for announcements, and the extender is hung on there. As far as gifts go, we have received some really neat trinkets, its whatever you want to give. We have received glow sticks, pens, paper, pirate necklaces, princess hairclips, candy, gum, magnets, and many themed disney gifts. The kids love the fish extender because they look forward to coming back to the room and finding something new in there. We also decorate our door with magnets (This makes it easier to locate your room), the kids also like this because it makes them unique! I do have some pics from last cruise of our door and fish extender, if anyone is interested, I will post them later when I get home from work!

We're looking at the P&P party on Feb 5, but may chose to do Universal parks instead on Feb 6.

It's about time to start making the magnets and the Fish Extender.

I guess I ought to make plane reservations. Good thing we have a Southwest hub in Baltimore!

1 month and counting

Jon

I have to admit I don't know anything about these! I guess I wasn't looking, but I don't remember seeing them se. The pic of that one is awesome! Besides Ebay is there somewhere you can get them? And on Ebay, what do you look under? "Fish Extender" didn't get it LOL!

Yes, I looked up "fish extender" on ebay and found mine. The seller shipped SUPER fast too, I'll look up their name if you like.

Where is everyone meeting at the P&PP? We will all be dressed up...the kids as Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swan, I will have some casual pirate inspired garb on :lmao: and well, dh, we'll see what we can do with him. He vetoed the Captain Hook outfit...said he'd look like a pimp. :rotfl2:

Hi everyone....will catch up later ....quickly, I found a Diser who had a classified ad on ebay.....she is making one for us now. I am awaiting her reply if I can "advertise" her..here!

So...we have had massive amts of rain here, actually got some in our basement, ugh..we have a brick bungalow, thats old and quaint....emphasis old!
DH used my car last week when he locked his keys in his truck (while running) and during so got a huge smiley face crack in my windshield and nail in one of my tires....my DS14 has 8th grade grad photos this week, must get a shirt and tie ...list goes on and on!! lol
I keep saying.....Next month, this time...cruising on the Wonder!

**If interested in a fish extender, you can PM Diser "dsparks".....**

My girls have school, and I cant take them out! They are missing the 6th, but have no school the 7 and 8th! They still have no clue about this cruise, I'm so excited!!!! If you want me to make a few magnets for your door, just let me know! I am making some for us, and my parents, so a few more would be no bother!
