Feb 6 2010 7 Night Western

I think we were upgraded from a 12 to a 9 also. I am hoping I like it and it doesn't make me sick! It will be nice to check it out and see if I think it is worth it in the future. DCL is smart in that way.

Hi Jen,
I checked online (Disneycruise.com). Under My CRUISE PLANS/RESERVATIONS It still says Cat#12, but instead of GYT, there is a number. I checked the room number on the DIS stateroom reports and found out they are all Cat #9. This is our second upgrade to Cat 9's from 12's. We were upgraded on our Tortola cruise back in April as well.

Have a wonderful Christmas up North! The snow must be awesome!

It looks like we were upgraded to a 9, as well. Stateroom 2554 is what it says on the reservations on DCL web site. I am so happy, as I had requested a 12 GTY when I booked a year ago, but none available and DreamsUnlimited (DU) was supposed to notify me when some opened and they did not. Luckily, last week my DM saw them and alerted me, so I asked DU to change it to the 12 GTY and received $560 back last week and now it looks like I have a 9 and outside stateroom??? Does anyone know if deck 2 has port holes or if you can see out from the outside staterooms on deck 2? I have always stayed in inside staterooms, so have no clue.

When we went on our cruise in December 2007 and did a sort of FE thing, but of course it was Christmas time, so we actually did stockings and stocking stuffers. They were just random items, not specifically for kids or adults. There were magnets, candy, tea bags, tattoos, wallets, and lots more. The stockings seemed to be full everyday, but I believe each "family" did one item for the whole trip. It was very fun to come back to the room and find your stocking full. It would really depend on how many participate, because if it is not too many, we could afford to do a couple or a few days, but if it is a lot particiapting, just one day would be best.

Let us know if it will be for kids only or adults, too, because we are not bringing any kids. We will particiapte if it is not specific, but just random and whatever you want to bring. Otherwise, I am sure we will have a lot of fun without doing it and the kids will enjoy it.

Regarding February 12 being the start of the peak time. President's Day week is one of the busiest weeks of the year at Disney World. Everything is considered peak time that week. We purposely booked the February 6 cruise to avoid the crush.

Wow, thank you. I would not have expected that. Maybe on the actual holiday, but the res tof the week??? With Christmas break just having passed and spring break a month and a half later, it seems parents would actually want their kids in school, lol! It was just odd to me. At least i now know what to expect when I am there. I did get all the reservations I wanted at every restaurant except one and at the times I wanted, so I did not think it would be that crowded, plus with the "economy woes" and people staying home more.

It will be for anyone who wants to participate. I'll have stuff for the adults and the kids (which more or less could really be shared). I am sure some will have family gifts and then others more specific. Actually I did get some that were girl/boy specific the other day!

At first I couldn't imagine what I could for the adults but I have gotten lots of ideas poking around on the boards!

Let me know for sure and I can add your names to the list!

We just booked tonight! It has been WAY too long since we have been on a cruise! It will be myself, wife and our two boys (6 & 2). I am looking for some football fans to watch the Super Bowl with! :happytv:

Oh, I plan to watch the Superbowl!! I was so happy to know that Superbowl was while we were on the cruise. I hope they are having a Superbowl party or something. I am a huge football fan, husband will watch it (and gripe about my (our) team because they are horrible this year, well, lots of years, lol) but he is not as much of a fan as I am. It is the opposite in our household, I watch the games on Sunday (Pacific time - 10 a.m., 1:15 p.m. and 5 p.m.) and he cooks and does the dishes and watches here and there, lol!!

I am torn about what to do, as we have first seating at dinner, but Superbowl will be starting right about that time. I do not want to miss the first night at each restaurant because that is when they do all the fun "shows," and the second night at each is not as "spectacular." But, I also want a place to sit for Superbowl, as when we went on the cruise last time I wanted to go in and watch the games (it was a sea day) and there was not a seat in the sports bar for us to sit, so I was really disappointed.

Great, we will participate! Thank you!!

Shannon and Tristan Bass stateroom 2554 (well, at least that's what it says for now).:yay:

We haven't been upgraded (boo!) but maybe it is because we need adjoining cabins? Oh well, ITA - as long as we're on the ship!

Shannon, we are down the hall from you.. 2583 and 2585. :)

Up here in New England, most schools have a February vacation, and in many cases it's the week of President's day. So that's probably why that whole week is considered a peak week because it's truly a school vacation week for some parts of the country. I don't know why, but much of the Northeast doesn't seem to have the typical "spring break" week in March; instead there are two vacations, one in February and one in April.

Here in GA the kids have off 2 days. They used to get the entire week off when they were trying to go to year round school and slowly throwing in more vacations it seemed.

My husband cannot have off at any celebratory holiday, so no labor day, memorial and of course the big ones so for us we have to try and take vacations at odd times. Inventory always falls the month of April (which is DS6's spring break) therefore he can't be gone in March or April. Spring break here in GA is also the last of April and then the kids get out 3 weeks later for the summer. :confused3

We had these Cat #10 connecting rooms for our first cruise. We thought they were great! Close to pretty much everything. Walk to the restaurants ( no elevator required!)

Ooooh - that is good to know because I coukld not find a review on those specific rooms! Glad to hear you liked them and close to everything is a bonus. I would have loved a porthole upgrade, but not planning on spending too much time in our rooms anyway ;)

We've started thinking about the SuperBowl too, but don't want to jinx it! Yet, I haven't even thought about the conflict with dinner & the show! Oh No! Luckily there's no "Disney" show that night. However, we were planning to be in Lumiere on Sun/Key West Night. And hello, the menu includes Lobster Mac, Grand Marnier Souffle, AND Creme Brulee!!!! HOW in the world do I give that up??? Help! What do I do??? (We are on 2nd seating.)

P.S. I say forget the sports bar, they should broadcast it on the Ariel Vision screen above the pool! This way we can fit more people & be as loud as we want!

I need help making door signs. I have ordered magnetic paper and looked at the graphics thread, but am still unsure what to do. What I really need is to be able to go to a graphic and type in our names, etc. so that my info prints out on the cute sign. I have no clue how to do this. I am sure I can just print out non-personalized signs without trouble, but it would be so much nicer to be able to insert my own copy. Graphically challenged Lisa.

Lisa, if you go to the magnet thread there are people who will insert your info. into whatever magnet design you like. I think you can then just print it out on your magnet paper. This is free and they don't take very long to respond to your request.:thumbsup2 I am also very challenged when it comes to anything associated with computers.;)

Hi everyone! I am calling and booking this cruise tomorrow with DVC points in a CAT 9. Not much time to plan so I need a little help. What excursions are good for kids ages 5 and 9 at each port??? Thanks for any help!! Vanessa

Glad you picked the 7 night Vanessa!! :cool1: Welcome to the group :)

The kids in our group are 2, 7 and 12. I think in Key West we'll be just touring around and we will probably stop by the aquarium.

In Mexico we will go to Chakanaab but not booking through Disney as they won't let our 2 year old go but you can book them directly.

In Grand Cayman we will probaby hang out at 7 mile beach. I am contemplating doing the Stingrays but, again, we probably won't book through Disney.

Hey all. My name is Carrie. This will be my DH's (Tony) and I's VERY FIRST CRUISE. We will also be bring along our 2 DD's ages 1 and 3! We are so excited. We have our Palo dinner booked and our excursions and just can't wait to go!!

Hi Carrie!

Welcome to the group :) It's our first cruise too, along with our DD who is 2 and our nieces who are 7 and 12. :cool1:
