I just finished making my FE! I do not really sew, but I bought an inexpesive sewing machine when my DD was born in hopes of learning a few things so I could make her some custom Disney outfits....well that never happened! I have sewn a poodle skirt for chorus with the help of a friend, but other than that I only do hems. I will post a picture later on!!

We need pictures! I need to make my FE! I am scared to use bias tape though (silly because I sew for a small living) because I have never used it!! I can make it without but can't decide if I would prefer it with.

How old is your DD? I am sure you have told us this in a past post already though.

On top of feeling a little guilty travelling right now with everything going on in Haiti.

I feel funny too - but someone made the point
that tourism is an important industry for these islands -
I'd bet if asked they would want us to come.

Thanks! DD is now 7.....and I found one outfit....half finished...in my sewing box with a pattern that looked like it was for a 1 year old! She (along with DS2) will not be sailing with me though...we are going on a family cruise in November....gotta wait until DS2 is potty trained!! I cannot stand bias tape either! It kept slipping and I would have to tear out the stitches and re-sew. I hope to post a picture later on tonight!

That should be EarthQUAKE in the Cayman ISLANDS!

I have a good friend on the ship that just landed at Haiti that is all over the news. Opinion polls are divided about wether the ship should have gone there or not.

I can tell you from a phone call I got today from my friend.

The cruise ship paid $20K to dock the ship. Money that went right into the economy.

The cruise ship also brought a check for $1Mil, also money that went right to the relief fund.

The cruise line employs about 75 people where it docks, these people need a paycheck more than ever before!

And the cruise line brought a half a ton of food and water to the island, and will continue to do so on every ship that goes to Haiti until the need is no longer there.

He said the locals were estatic that the line decided to continue to bring people in. They need the income badly and thanked everyone!


So yes, continuing to vacation in these parts of the Caribbean, while it may seem insensitive, is a very good thing to do....

Here is my FE that I made today! I put thick plastic sheeting over the front of the pockets so I can slip names/pictures into the pockets...customizable for each cruise....same with the top clear pocket with the Disney Cruise picture (all graphics are from the magnet thread!).

Less than 3 weeks to go!!!!

WOW that is sooo cool. Ok I am very artistic (or so I would say crafty) but there is no way in heck mine would turn out like that...ok I did do one FE that will probably be hanging on our door, the pockets are made out of plastic which I swore to NEVER again work with on a sewing machine (it was actually my moms sewing machine because I dont know how to sew really well) but I am sorta proud of it but yours is cool. I LOVE the changable pockets

Someone mentioned labeling their gifts -- I hadn't even thought of that, but I think that is a good idea just in case there is some kind of mix-up.

Also, I am wondering about folks that might have a last-minute stateroom change -- how would they let others know? I would suggest to everyone that when you are delivering, make sure the FE has some sort of identification on it that matches up with the family that is supposed to be there. Another thought would be that if your room# changes, you could stick a little note in the FE's of everyone else participating, with your new room# on it.

I know there are a few of us who are hoping for possible port upgrades , so just something to keep in mind...

Can I sheepishly admit that I was kind of a fan?

We are big Survivor fans, watched since the very first episode. We still occasionally call a person a "froot loop" if they deserve it, heehee. We weren't sure what to think of Rob in Season 4 (especially being from Boston myself), but we really enjoyed watching him and Amber on All-Stars. Then we followed them to Amazing Race, and were genuinely disappointed when they didn't win.

I don't follow tabloids and such, but from what I've heard they are doing well, and I am very happy for them.

CRAP I didn't think of personalizing my Fish Extender...hmm...see that is going to be hard...Hey my door will have my Disboard name on a magnet (small mickey magnet) if that would help? Also my door will be loaded down with more magnets than humanly possible And I also dont expect any upgrades...would be nice but I dont see it happening If I can try to personalize my FE then I will do so...But if not than it will be the Lightening McQueen Fish Extender with the clear plastic lightening Mcqueen pockets (If I dont try to make another before we sail)

But I will be labeling the gifts for everyone so hopefully those that get upgrades can leave little notes or something for us all to know where you are going to be located. I do not wish to neglect anyone for their gifts!
