Updated list by Linda: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnoNcRpb1nwJdFFqb3ZzZjF2UFpROGF2U0R0WW1iWnc#gid=0

I heard once we were thinking of having our days assigned, but then heard another time it will be open. I think that in order to make this more fun and less strict, we will leave it open. Hopefully folks will spread it out a bit over the week naturally, so we get it our gifts in bits, rather than all at once.

I also heard that we can choose what to give. No need for gifts for each person if that is not what you want to do. No limits either. We will probably give gifts to each kid, and one for the adults to share. Probably not as amazing as what PrincessSophiesMom has planned, but still fun. No need to be worried that your gifts aren't as great as the next persons, we all know we have different income levels, and that some aren't as creative as others. I'm all for having fun! Kids are really going to enjoy this, and that is all the matters to me!!!

Yes, thanks for the updated list! I think it's more of a surprise to do the FE giving whenever. I was thinking of doing some gifts to use on the cruise, so I might deliver early. However, the more I think about it, I want something memorable, so I might do a momento later in the trip. Who knows! I better get with it and quick!! :scared:

Nooooooo, they better not cancel the sail away party for a football game! grrrrrrr, I would be ticked off!

Thank you for the additional birthday wishes everyone!

@Shanie17 I feel the same way as you. DD is only 2 so she is growing extra quickly. I thought she had flip flops for the trip. They fit a month or two ago! Luckily, DH tried them on her yesterday. Another item to add to the list! Add on the fact that this is my longest vacation ever and that I've never cruised. This list is a mile long. Took a trip to target last night to start checking things off.

Just so everyone knows, the link to the google doc will take you to the most updated version of the list every time you pull it up.

Question of the Day: Monday, January 9

Are you dressing up for Pirate Night?

Well, we're working on it. I'm trying to make our costumes. I may have to buy 1, or maybe even 2. I'd really like to at least make DD and DH's. I've purchased material for DD's so I'm pretty sure that one will happen. I'd really like to find her a small stuffed parrot to sit on her shoulder. I don't know how she picked it up, but she knows what pirates are and that they have ships, a patch on one eye and a parrot on their shoulder. I think she's going to really enjoy the pirate party.

Last time we sailed, the kids dressed up for pirate night and the DH and I wore pirate themed shirts, we'll probably do the same for this sailing pirate:

That is a TR from the Superbowl 2011 sailing. At least last year they did the (Sailing Away?) dance party the following morning, after the safety drill.

I am a big believer that if you don't make your opinion known, you can't complain. DCL can't necessarily read our minds. I'm not one of those, write my opinion and threaten to take my business elsewhere people. However, I did just write a letter to DCL expressing my concern that a day 2 sail away party would be anticlimatic and that I hope they would make the game available as usual, but stop showing the game on the sail away party stage long enough to have the usual sail away party (anyone who thinks the game is more important could still watch it on every other screen on the ship). My hubby is a HUGE football fan, and even he doesn't want to see the sail away party moved.

For anyone else who wants to express their concerns to DCL https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/contact-us/

Completely agree Linda! There are 5 billion other TV's on the ship, so those die-hard FB fans can go elsewhere! We've got some celebrating to do!! :cool1: Thanks for the link!

Knott's Berry Farm isn't in the best part of town. We're not talking about a neighborhood with people drinking booze from paper bags on the street, but there are motels being used as residences and a few months ago, there was a fatal stabbing in the parking lot of a 24 hr fitness within 2 minutes of Knott's Berry Farm. If you can, I'd stick to the Knott's Berry Farm Resort Hotel. If you're renting a car, you may want to stay in Cypress (still very close, but much safer part of town).

This breaks my heart :sad1: It's not a "sail away" party if you're already a day out in the ocean! (thanks for posting, I think :sad2:)

I'm so grateful Brent posted this! It gives us a fighting chance to make our opinions known and at least have a fighting chance at a sail away party on sailing day.

Seriously, a sail away party after you've already sailed away?! That's like having a wedding ceremony after the reception.

We have been on 8 DCL cruises so far. One sail away party was moved inside due to weather (they did what they could with the space they had, not the same as on the pool deck). This party is one of the highlights of every cruise! I would be really bummed if they didn't hold it when we sailed away AND on the pool deck where it belongs!!

I just sent a similar message. Maybe if enough of us booked on that trip they will reconsider.
