FEB 3, 2008 ABROAD DISNEY WONDER--Who else??

I have officially started packing--In the BIG suitcase. I

Rose

LOL, Rose, I cracked up when I read this:rotfl: I know those "BIG" suitcases. I hope to decrease my packing to a medium suitcase:headache: I keep repeating my Mantra: I will not overpack, I will not overpark...will see if it works this time:upsidedow or else this is me after the cruise:laundy: LOL!

I know we had discussed maybe getting together to get the photopass CD for the ones of us going to Pirate and Princess Party. Who would be interested? I would not be willing to spend $125 as we would probably only have a few pics, but if we can get 5 of us together that would be cool. Does the terminal have wireless? If so maybe we could check the pics there and decide who's in.

Rose

That sounds great! The terminal would be a great place to look them over!!! I for one do not want to spend the $125 either. But I did see on the Photopass sight that you can have access to all your pictures and make a bound book for $49! I think we are going that route. Sound like a winner to me. Then I can just do some creative cropping on the webpage and get the ones I want that way.

I am bringing my laptop on the cruise to download pics from the cameral daily...so we might be able to get a package and view them.

I appreciate your welcoming me at this late date and letting me join in the festivities. I've skimmed through the thread and see that I need to send Tara some info.

We are currently Second Seating for dining since we booked so late. They wait listed us for early seating.

I'm all in for Wine/Martini/Tequila tasting. We've been to both the wine and tequila events and they are fun. If I have to pick one it would be Martini. Yes, I'm a dirty martini kind of girl. Well, maybe in my younger days.

DS isn't much of a joiner, but he isn't shy. He says he doesn't want to head to the kids clubs this trip and it is supposed to be a Mom & son bonding cruise, so that's ok with me. I know better than to commit him to anything at this point. We'll do our best to get to the group meets and hopefully the kids will take it from there.

I think we'll pass on the gift exchange, but I can get my act together for the magnet exchange if store bought is ok.

Are the Krewe T-shirts at Cafe Press from this group? Are you all wearing them? I could still get them in time I'm sure.

Do we need to bring fish extenders? I have a great Mickey Mouse one from the Panama Canal cruise.

Well, just glad to be joining all of you.

Juli

Hi Dizneyphan,

Did I read that you are in Iraq? My nephew is in the Army Reserve and he was called up recently. He checked into his local armory today and heads to Fort Hood on Monday. Then on to Iraq. We are proud of him but of course very worried. He is married and has 4 boys under 14. He's been called up and been away before, but this is the first time he is going into a high conflict area. I sure wish his family could be with us on the cruise.

Just a thought....I was reading on the "what is a fish extender" post and one of the things they said they got every night (in addition to magnets) was goody bags. I know originally, we started talking a secret mickey idea and I think the thought maybe scared people away because of pricing? The thought of a gift each night at $5-$10 per night, maybe seemed too much? I know we switched to a one time gift exchange, but it looked like currently there's only 3 or 4 people involved.

So it made me think, what about seeing who would be willing to take a night to put a small treat in the fish extenders for the kids instead of doing the Dirty Tink for them? Then they could get something little every night, but it would not cost a fortune since we would only be responsible for doing one night. (The adults could still stick with the Dirty Tink- I wouldn't dare suggest taking that out of the picture after the stir that the name caused! :lmao:) I am just thinking my DDs would love to make little treat bags and go around delivering them. And at the same time, would be so excited to arrive back at the room each day to find a "surprise." I'm not talking alot, it might even cost less than the Dirty Tink gift exchange for them was.

Here's my example:
*Bag of assorted chocolates $4.00
*Bag of 8 disney pencils (Walmart) $2.50
*And some things I have at home in my party/craft bins- bubbles, stickers, etc.
*Set of 8 clear plastic bags $2.00
I could make 8 little treat bags for less than $10.00. Even if only 4 families participated, the kids would get something every night. If we had 8 families, than they would get two things each night. It could be anything too- whatever you want to do...if you want to do little 8 for $10 treat bags, great. If you want to do $0.99 sticker sheets and divide them up, great. If you want to go to the disney store an buy little gifts, great. I think as long as we go into it knowing that generally it'll cost less than $10-$15 total and if you choose to spend more that's your decision, it'd be fine. Honestly, it might even save me money if the kids know they are getting a surprise back at the room- then I won't have to make my daily stop at Mickey's Mates (OK, I will, but it will be to buy my own stuff!:rotfl2: )

So, What do you think? If you don't like it, I would totally not be offended!! This is one of those you can't hear the tone of my voice moments, but I'm totally just putting it out there, but I'm not trying to change anything because I don't like it the way it is now (well, I guess technically, I am suggesting change, but not because I don't like the kids Dirty Tink, I'm just trying to figure out a way to maybe make it more enticing so we can involve more of the Krewe) I just thought the thought of putting out only $10.00, but in return your kids are getting at least one surprise at day maybe sounds good!?! So let me know. I know we are getting close. Please, please, please, don't take this as I don't like the ideas already put out there! I would hate to think I've offended anyone! (again a moment where you cannot actually hear my voice and my sincerety!)

Talk to you all tomorrow (today, it's 2:00a.m.). These boards are killing me!!!

I think this is a GREAT idea!

:lmao:

I had to cut myself down to just one thread. :surfweb: Guess which one I picked. I figure at this point we have enough expert opinion available HERE to get most any question answered.

BTW, totaled up, I wonder how many cruises the Krewe been on before?

The good thing about being half way around the world is that by the time I make it in to work, and check the board, you all have been at it all day, and have posted all sorts of great stuff for me to read & reply to! It's like having having half a dozen pals who send me mail every day. :cloud9:

Okay, who is starting to pack? I am unsure what to bring since the weather in Fl. seems to be going cold/warm:confused3

:laundy:

I've asked DW to do my packing since I don't ship back till right before we leave for FL.

I told her to pack like we were going to Monterey (we lived there before). You start the day in jeans and a sweater. By noon, the sweater comes off, and you may even change into a bathing suit, but keep that sweater near by, 'cause you'll need it again by dinner time.

Are any of the DHs taking a suit jacket, or is shirt & tie fancy enough for dinner? I don't want to be over dressed. What about for Palo? I do have a couple of jackets that I usualy save to wear to job interviews.

My Commander here is leaving on a Carnival Cruise the same day (his loss). He says he wears his "Mess Dress" to dinner. Its like a Tuxcedo for the military. I'd think the other passangers would mistake him for the wine steward. :upsidedow And no, I don't actualy own this type of uniform. I only have the simpler "Service Dress" (See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:USAF_Mess_Dress.jpg and http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9b/US_Air_Force_Mens_Service_Dress.jpg)

WOW! If you can get a teenage boy to spend "quality" time with his Mom, especialy when "cool stuff" becons:cool2: , you are truly the uber-parent. :worship:

I'll be suprised to see DS Aaron half a dozen times between boarding and disembarking.

I signed up DS for the Castaway Cay "Wild Side" Teen excurtion. Now he says he's not sure he want's do do that :headache: He'd be happy to sit in our cabin and play Guitar Hero all day

Disneyphan- Photopass is the card they put your pics on while at WDW. I am hoping to get lots of pics on Pirate and Princess Night so I would like to have a copy of it, but for only that night it would not justify the cost (we usually take 200+ on a 1 week trip). If you buy the CD you can print all of your pics anywhere you want-it comes with a release.

Tara- I did not take the time to check the photopasss web site, but I think the $49 book is only with your pics. It is more if you use theirs. I checked into it for my neice in Nov. So check before we go.

With 5 of us going we need the big suitcase. I could not sleep last night thinking about packing-- possible cool weather, warm weather and evening clothes. Packing for WDW is much easier. I guess after this cruise I'll know what to expect.

I've already bought several little things to leave in random fish extenders for the kids. My DD's will love doing this even if they don't get anything back (although I've also bought a few special things to leave for them in case).

Goodie bags & magnets would probably be easier to do.

I have my magnets done! I made some and am going to Disneyland in a few weeks and buying some from there to pass out.:yay:

DISNEYLAND TOO!!!! Aren't you lucky!

I agree....goodie bags and magnets are great with me too!

Somebody tell me again exactly how to do it....I am not sure I get it.

Sorry to be difficult tonight it has been a LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG day. I had to put my oldest daughter *the one with CP* in the hospital today for breathing problems and kidney problems. I didn't even know about the high white blood cells and kidney problems!!! They said she was all out of whack and she really needs to be hospitalized.

Her breathing was horrible....so we were expecting to stay...but now her kidneys might be shutting down!!!! How did this happen. They said that since she is dehydrated that this could cause her Kidney's to put off strange results. Or me might have caught them when they were filtering something worse out of her body. So I am at a loss here. When it rains it poors!!!

Bret is staying tonight I am going to school tomorrow and then I am going to take over tomorrow night and Wednesday if I need to. They do have wireless at the hospital...so I will be able to keep in touch.

Please keep Jadie Girl in your thoughts. We need her healthy so we can go on this cruise!!!! I couldn't bare to leave her even with a tiny cough!!!!!

======================================================

So...back to the goodie bags...You just need to explain it to me again!

Do I make 1 bag for each family who participates and give it to them one night. Or one for each night for all the familes who participate.

EX==4 family participate so I need to make 16 goodie bags (one each night)

4 family participate so I need to make 4 goodies bags and pick a night to give them out.

Are we going to be girl boy conscience or just generic. Are we going to include PrincessDaisy with no kids (she can bring them back to her kiddos)

HELP!!!!

I am so confused!!!

Tara

We will keep Jade in our prayers for a quick and healthy recovery! Oh, Tara, this must be so hard on you and the family...I have an Aunt with CP and it is always scary when she gets a cold because of the possibility of going to hospital. Sending you lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for Jadie girl:wizard:

You are right...the 49 dollar book is with YOUR flm....but they have a 69 dollar that is photopass pictures plus your film. That still might be the way to go for us. But I am all for paying $25 for CD and then can make my own later. I have been getting pretty creative with stealing photos from pages here lately.
