Feb 28, 2013 Dream...Anybody Else Going?

Good morning everyone,
hope your week is going well.
I am really getting excited for this cruise!!!!

It's really getting close now.

We have Palos booked for pirate night but its early at 6 p.m. so we will be done in plenty of time for the party. my son has done Palos before but I havnt. So that will be a first experience for me.:goodvibes

Ever since we became Platnum members (many cruises ago) they keep offering us a free Palos as a perk but we just never got around to it. So this time it was a must do for us.

Have a Magical day everyone,
I'll check back later,

Kathy

Just stopping in to say hi :wave2:

Since Kathy mentioned Pirate Night, I have a question for those of you who have done a 3-night cruise before ... I had read that there was a special menu for Pirate Night and looked it up on AllEars. But then I read somewhere else (I think on DISboards) that they don't do the special menu on the 3-night cruises because they want you to experience all 3 restaurants. Which is correct?

Thanks :)

Are you referring to the Pirate buffet after the party or the regular menus in the restaurants?

As far as I know they still have the Pirate buffet after the party.

Kathy

I meant the menus in the restaurant ... I didn't really know about the buffet after the party. Is it a dessert buffet?

its considered a pirate buffet. Now I havnt been on a 3 day in a few years but I dont think its changed. I know the 7 day still has apirate buffet after the pirate party.

Yes it has some delicious desserts but also many savory foods. All are considered finger foods . They use to have turkey legs. Its meant to make you eat with your hands like I pirate would do. Its not a huge selection but plenty for everyone.

It use to be on Pirate night all 3 restaurants had the same menu and it was on a pirate scroll that you unrolled at your table to read, plus you kept it as a souvenir. I have several of them. I am assuming the 3 day cruises still have this.
I may try to reach friends who recently were on the Dream and ask them about the pirate menus. Then we will know for sure.

This is what I found on another message board (not dis), but it was from over 6 months ago:

"The 3 night cruises do not have the Pirate menu in the dining rooms. They still have the Pirate party/fireworks/buffet.

You won't miss any of the Signature Menus in the dining rooms."

That's too bad they changed it. I will be on the Dream the end of this month and will know for sure. Hopefully when I get back I will be able to answer any questions about it.

Quiet day here today.

Everyone is busy working to pay for this cruise.;)

I'll check back in tomorrow,

Good night everyone,

Kathy

That is correct. We have been on a 3 night before and they do not have the pirate menu. You will still get the pirate party and fireworks.

Good evening everyone,

I spent most of today contemplating FE gifts. I may have it all figured out but I need to research just a bit more.:thumbsup2

I am trying to do something totally different than I usually do this time.

We are such a small group it should be a lot easier than past cruises where i have had up to 40 rooms to deliver to.

It rained a lot today. Sure hope we are back to nice sunny Florida tomorrow!!

Have a great night everyone.

I'm so envious of you Floridians with all that nice weather and your cruise resident discounts! Some day I may join you down there. :goodvibes

Thank you :) That actually makes me happy. I didn't want to miss a regular menu at one of the restaurants. I haven't heard great things about the pirate menu.

Just for fun, I counted the number of cabins that still show as available for the 2/28 cruise. I came up with 123. Majority of those are balcony cabins. Seems like a lot. Maybe there will be some upgrades coming? :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I hope it stays empty. LOL! I was on the Dream in May 2011 (a few months after its debut). It was sold out and so full. It was fine honestly but it would be nice with fewer people. Here's hoping.

I do have a question about upgrades...if we do upgrades but are participating in FE...how will people know? Since I'm coordinating FE, should I post a sign outside my room and people who upgrade can come by and make changes by the end of the day on Thursday the 28th??? WAIT!! What about me?? LOL! :rotfl2: What if I want to upgrade???? Hmmm...this wasn't an issue on the sold out boat in May 2011... Thoughts? Input?

One thing you can do is to announce any changes at the meet the first afternoon. EVERYONE will know if they have different room numbers by then!!
Assuming everyone wants a meet. I have always done one.

Plus we always had one person (volunteer) that if you changed rooms let them know( tell everyone to go to their room for questions) by going to their room or call and leave them a message first thing on board, then that person will have a list of changes posted on their door so people can check there for room changes in case they miss the meet.

That worked on other cruises. So give it some thought.

I am happy to post changes outside my door for everyone if people notify me. They can call my room and leave a message as soon as they get into their room. We wont be changing rooms once it is assigned to us, about 2 weeks before the cruise.
