Feb 28, 2013 Dream...Anybody Else Going?

I may have missed it but I didn't see a meet for this group?

if there isnt one I would like to ask if everyone is interested in a quick meet to put some faces to our names here?:confused3

All my cruises have always had a meet.:thumbsup2

If your interested I would like to suggest we meet the first day at 3 P.M. in the Vista Cafe, deck 4 midship.:woohoo:

Its easy to find, plenty of chairs and tables at the Vista Cafe. 3 usually works good because everyone is on board by then, had time to leave off their carry on luggage and check out part of the ship. The safety drill is at 4 so we have 45 minutes to show up and say hello before heading off for the drill.

Please let me know what everyone thinks about this idea. :scratchin

I've been reading about the Fish Extenders ... thanks for the info. It sounds like fun! How many people usually sign up for that per cruise? I have this vision of spending our entire first day just wandering the ship to find everyone's stateroom. :rotfl:

We usually deliver ours in shifts as we explore the ship. 3-5 at a time. DD loves the Detective Agency game, so it usually as we do that.

I'm Heather, BTW.

Kathy - That sounds like a good meet-up idea/time. We try and make it, but are usually late and miss everyone. Such is life w/a 6 year old some days.

Hi Rachel,
I have a DD named Rachel. Spelled the same way too.

:goodvibes

Sounds like a good idea. I am one of those people that tends to be perpetually late even when I try to be on time, though, so the most I can promise is to try to be there :)

Heather, that's a really good idea - thanks! We really want to do the detective agency game also, so multitasking sounds great :)

I have a DD13 as well! Her name is Skylar.

Good to know there's someone DD's age on the cruise - she's really hoping to make some friends. It can be a bit of a trial at that age ...
My DD is Violet ... will Skylar be going to Edge (or Vibe)? Maybe they'll hit it off. :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone,

I am happy to hear you like the idea of a meet.:goodvibes

I will post a reminder of the information a couple times before the cruise as a reminder and to inform any new cruisers who join us.

Back later everyone,

Kathy

Sure hope everyone had a good Monday.

I spent the day trying to figure out what I will do for FE gifts. So many great ideas out there its hard to decide what to do.

Have a great evening everyone,

Kathy

Skylar looks forward to meeting her....and yes I know about that age :rotfl2: I don't know about her going to the Edge....she went last cruise..once...:rolleyes1

Good morning everyone,

Hope you're all having a good start to the week.:goodvibes

I caught a cold yesterday from my son:sick: So I am laying around today to get rid of it before my cruise the end of this month.

One good thing about being retired you can lay around all day if you need to.

Back later to see whats happening here today,

Kathy

Quiet day around here today.

Maybe tomorrow there will be more posting here. I know people have to work and have school activities that keep the week days busy.

I will check back later tonight or in the morning to see if anyone has had the time to say hello.

Have a great evening everyone,

Kathy

I won't be able to post everyday. Lots going on...but I have a few quite minutes in front of the computer now.

For those that have done magnets, how do you do them? Do you print paper, laminate and add a magnet? Do you buy printable magnet paper? Any other ideas???

Hi Everyone,

This is my first DCL cruise but my 2nd time cruising (I cruised on Carnival in 2005). I'm debating on excursions at Nassau. Nothing looks super exciting and I'm thinking about not getting off the ship. Would I be missing out on anything? I've been to the Bahamas on my last cruise (Grand Cayman, Freeport). I'm not much of a shopper and I hated :furious: when the people tried to get you into their shops would yell at us. This happened when we stopped in Costa Maya.

We are cruising with a group of eight people. My brother and his family are planning on the Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day. I'm just not sure :confused3

I always buy magnetic sheets (paper) and just print off the Disney picture i want onto the magnetic sheets. It sticks great to the door. DCL only allows magnets or magnetic paper, no tapes or glues allowed due to damage to the doors.

If you need some pictures to choose from just send me an e-mail( address below) I have plenty to share and many of individual characters. You can copy and paste them on one sheet anyway you want to. They are easy to size on your computer. The regular pictures are already sized to fit a standard size sheet.

Howdy Jodi,

Welcome to the group here!!

People at Nassau will often ask you into their stores especially the straw market. Some of the nicer stores they dont call you in. That aeems to be normal on these islands.

I use to hate the hair braiders standing by the port building and grabbing at my arm wanting to braid my hair. But mylast 2 trips there they stood back and politely asked if you wanted your hair braided. Not sure but I think too many complained about them being too agressive.

I like the pirate museum which is a short walk from the ship. Also I like the historical tours of the forts and Queen Anne's staircase. Lots of island history there. But I have already done all those. If my son wants to do a tour then we will, otherwise we will just walk around town. Maybe do the pirate museum because he hasnt seen it before.

I do like the aquiarium at Atlantis too. That is easy to do on your own .

Are you guys interested in doing the FE? Since this is your first DCL cruise I am not sure if you have read about it.
If not just ask and I am happy to explain it to you.
But the cutoff date is Feb 1st ( I think) so you have a couple weeks ot decide if you want to join in on the fun.

We also are having a meet the first afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Vista Cafe, deck 4 midship. Just to meet face to face. That way we can recognise each other around the ship.
Plus kids get to meet other kids their age so they will have a familiar face in the clubs.

Hope to see you there,

Kathy

I thought i might pass a long a tip for any new crusiers out there.
Many kids and some adults like to get their hair braided on the cruise.

Its a very popular thing to do. PLEASE!!! If you do this, have it done on the ship or on Castaway Cay NOT at Nassau.

If you watch the braiders at Nassau. When they are done with a comb they put it in their pocket with other combs then pull it out again for the next customer. No cleaning or sanitizing.
On the ship and CC they do sanitize everything so no worries about lice or other problems.

Plus the islands are famous for quoting one price and them demanding more after they are done. I have heard horror stories of them having to call the local police to settle the dispute from fellow cruisers.

The last few years havnt been quite as bad since the crusie lines threw a fit about it but still its not sanitary.
Just thought I would throw that out there for anyone who hasnt experienced this on the islands.

Kathy

Yes we did.:thumbsup2
Keep watching for those discounts. We have seen them come and go so there is still a chance they will pop up again. But they go fast . We usually look 2 or 3 times a day when we are watching for them.

Hope it works for your friends!!

Kathy

We got her booked tonight! Tammy at Kingdom Konsultants knows the ins and outs for sure!! They are on our sail date!

I have done the Blue Lagoon before. I like it. However, I have 2 kids and they want to GO on Mickey's boat and BE on Mickey's boat. So we don't get off in Nassau. We like to stay and play on the boat. :)
