Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

Caroline has a Belle dress -- we'll plan to have her wear it as well. What fun!

ok I am glad to know some of you are stressing out about clothes like I am. It makes me feel better :lmao:

I am going to hit Costco this week to see if they have snorkels. :thumbsup2 We found a mask that will fit my daughter and she has already tried it out in the bathtub.

I plan on running or doing interval training each day on the ship if anyone wants to join me. I am training for a half marathon (:scared1: what was I thinking by agreeing to do that? ) and it is a few weeks after we get back so I need to keep training. My rest day will be on our travel days. Is there a crazy smilie?

LOVE all the FEs. I bought mine on Ebay and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. Yet another thing to wait on and fret about. :rolleyes1

Some of you booked this cruise months and months ago.. How on earth have you all survived the countdown and anticipation?? On the main board I see people that have booked for June 2011. I would go nuts by then!!

Edited to add that my Dd will be wearing her Princess Dress as well for dress up night!

I will be wearing my lime green DIS t-shirt and my lime green PGA Tour hat at the terminal.:yoda: I am a power walker and out on the promenade deck every morning.:cool1: The 3:00 P.M. meet and great sounds like a winner to me!:thumbsup2

We're driving down from Erie, PA.:drive: Is anyone else driving down from north of the Mason-Dixon line?

I am a super slow runner and if you are a power walker maybe will will actually be out there together.

:lmao:

Sounds like a great idea! We will be there!

I think we will end up packing clothes for a wide range of temperatures and occasions, too. And, oh, the shoes! I hear you....5 pairs sounds about right!

Please bear with me as I haven't posted photos in awhile. Here is my finished FE - sorry if it looks gigantic....it's not really that big... Now I just have to finish putting together our FE gifts.

DSCN0642-1.jpg

Love your FE!!! WE are just south (lol) of you in Stoney Creek! I can't beleive how many Canadians are going to be on this cruise! Tonight was Daisys B-day, and we have done a ton of dreaming and planning! We are so excited and can't wait to get on with the cruise... the kids still have no idea that we are going! How are you going to tell the school board about the trip? We still havent let them know... we are awful I know, but after taking 2 weeks to Disney in Sept Oct we are unsure about how to go about it. THey are both ahea in there studies according to there teachers, but that does not make it easier...:cool2: BTW this is Daisys DH... :scared:

Welcome Martha:welcome:

It looks like Cindy gave you the main abbreviations. Any others that you don't know, just ask!

If you look through some of the past post, you will be able to get an idea of who will be sailing on the same cruise. It seems like a really great group! The FE exchange is past it's cut off date. There needed to be enough time for everyone to finish their FE gifts.:thumbsup2 Not all of us here are participating in it:rolleyes1 so don't worry about being the only one that is not.

I don't think that we have decided on an official 'cruise meet' on board.

As to packing, I already plan on way over packing. I get cold easy so we will all have warm weather clothes, cool weather clothes, swim wear, and dinner wear for each day.:lmao: Shoe are another matter. I think that I have it narrowed down to 3 pairs for each of us. I am sure that I will add things when packing.

Thanks Angie, Not a problem on the FE part. This cruise is a Christmas present from our children and was not even purchased until Dec. 29th. And since this is our first cruise all of this is very new to me. I think the general thought process is "meet at the kiddie pool at 3:PM on Sunday". That probably will work for us. But we won't have any kids with us. But I'm sure there will be plenty to share, lol since kids are free on this cruise. I've really learned alot just by reading the posts that have been posted over the past day. This will be lots of fun.....I'm very excited  and will be just giddie until we sail. :goodvibes Martha in Georgia

Hi Martha,

Welcome :welcome: to our cruise thread - so glad that you found us :woohoo:

You will find that we are a very friendly group. Several others have answered some of your questions. Please feel to post specific questions you may have and we'll all try our best to answer them.

Congrats on your upgrade - we also were upgraded to a deluxe oceanview, but we will be on deck one.

What are your travel plans? We are leaving Buford, GA on Saturday the 27th. It will take us about 9-1/2 hours driving time. When are you arriving? We will arrive late in the day on Saturday. We are staying at the Radisson Hotel. How are you getting to the port? We are leaving our car at the hotel (pre-arranged) and the hotel will take us to the ship. We have a departure time for 11:00 AM from the hotel. Are you doing WDW before or after the cruise? We are planning on a one day at Epcot after the cruise Are you doing late or early seating dinner? We have late seating. We are in stateroom 2046 on level 2.

As mentioned earlied on the main Cruise Line forum at the top of the page is sticky that has all the information you might need to know about cruising with DCL. Take a look at the Navigators that are posted for previous 4-day cruises - that will give you an idea of what to expect and when. I have spent many hours looking over them, so I have an idea what we want to do and when. It will tell you when/what the evening shows, when the movies are playing and what activities will be going.

We haven't arranged an official meeting, but stay tuned to see if everyone wants to schedule one.

Tammy

Hi Tammy, nice to hear from you. I will answer your questions in red in your post. Thanks again. Martha

2 workout outfitsQUOTE]

Are you planning on hitting the gym? I just starting strength training last week and am hoping to continue while on the cruise - Wishful thinking on my part, but I really want to try to maintain my program while away.

I have been exercising every morning with a indoor walking program on DVD, I was thinking of bringing it along, just in case I don't get enough walking in on the cruise or at WDW :rotfl:, then there's always the elipitcal!!

Tammy

I plan on doing the gym and walking on the deck 4. At home I have a pilates machine which I do 5 days a week (usually) :) So I don't know if they have one of those at the gym? But I'll find something I'm sure. I usually exercise in pj's at home , so I had to go buy workout clothes.

I am sure that I will see some of you around the gym!:thumbsup2 I will be the one gasping for breath.:rotfl2: DH is training for another triathlon and has decided to drag me along for the fun of it (not the race, just the torture). I have been trying to run or bike 4-5 times a week, but still can't go nearly as far as he does. Last night I tried a spinning class with him and needless to say I can barely walk today. I keep telling myself that if I keep up with it I won't feel so bad in a swim suit.

I will look for the lime green at the pool, 3pm:thumbsup2 OKWMEMBER- it sounds like we will all be able to find you! So when strangers keep looking your way or walk up to you, you will know that it is one of us.:)

I have a question about Castaway Cay. This is our first cruise so I have no clue what all the kids can do. We do plan on putting them in the kid camps at some point. But are there sand toys that can be rented or would it be better to bring from home? Or are there things to do that we won't even need the sand toys. Just confused......

Grab some at the dollar store or Wal Mart before you leave. They sell them on CC but like everything else $$$.

Hi,
My husband and I will be driving from the Atlanta area on Saturday the 27th. This is our first cruise and we are coming without children or grandchildren. We are both retired.Perhaps we could meet up with you and your wife on Sunday.

We walk 3 to 4 times a week but are not power walkers.

We have arranged to be taken to the Terminal around 11:00 from the Radission Hotel.

We're both real "southerners" hope you won't hold that against us. LOL... Looking forward to meeting some people on the cruise. Martha from Georgia.

I have to agree - bring your own - I bought a basket set at Walmart last year for about $5.00 - it was like $20 on CC. Brenna told me she doesn't want any sand toys this year, but I'm packing them just in case - there's always kids around to play with them, so if she doesn't want them, I'm sure someone else will.

Just got back from Zumba class with my DD - have any of you tried it? It was hysterical - Kaitlyn was laughing so hard :rotfl2: I'm not sure if I enjoyed it or not :confused3 It was quite a workout and boy did I sweat.

I swear all this exercise is going to kill me - I am definitely a in-home exerciser - I don't like sweating in front of others - especially the barbie types whose hair and make up are perfect and don't sweat in their tight little pants

Wow, what a small world! I can't believe you've managed to keep this a secret from your kids! I could NEVER pull that off! We told DD's teacher back in December that we were going away for 2 weeks (she will actually miss 11 days of school). The teacher advised us that the school board (Peel) policy is to withdraw students if they miss 15 consecutive days. If that happens, we'd have to re-register her! I thought it sounded a bit harsh :sad2:. You should be okay but then it all depends on your school board :confused3.

I am sooo an in-home exerciser also, I went to a jazzercise class a while and and thought that I looked like a complete idiot. I felt like my arms and legs were flying everywhere and I still wasn't keeping up:lmao: When I was pregnant I did the video at home with the blinds shut. At home you don't have to do your hair or make-up...much easier . You know were going to have to double the exercise when we get back cause I plan on eating my own appetizer every night..I do hope they have SOME healthy food choices on the menu. If they don't...oh well it's ok to splurge when your on vacation.

Zumba??? I know what you mean about exercising in public!!!:cool1: My DH and I walk at a local park and that is just about all I will do in public.

I'm right there with you on the healthy food.:littleangel: I'm trying to lose a few lbs before the trip but not having a lot of success. Now if I would quit eating that might helppopcorn:: and maybe drink more water:wishsize4 I could lose the weight. But there is always the days after the trip to exercise. :cool1:  :yay:

Our kids gave us this cruise for Christmas and we've never been on one before. I was alittle squimish at first about being put in an inside stateroom, but we were upgraded to a deluxe oceanview so now I'm really excited.

I know all the little girls will be so beautiful in their princess dresses. Kind of makes me wish we could be bringing our youngest granddaughter (6). But she's in school. Can't wait for the cruise. Hope to see and meet lots of new people.

Wow, this thread sort of exploded over the last couple of days. I wonder what happened to my email notifications. :confused3 [To answer some questions:
I haven't started packing, but I have started sorting clothes to see if I need to order stuff for DS (answer is yes). I will not be doing exercise of any sort on the trip other than moving my fork from my table to my mouth. I'll try to meet up with you'all at 3 on boarding day. No clue what I'll be wearing, but I'll look out for the green swatches.]

Anyone else not get cruise docs yet? I remember there was a few folks in the thread who got theirs a while ago, but nothing here yet. My travel agent hasn't said that she's received them, either, so I'm assuming they're still out in the Disney fog.

I am not getting email notifications either. It stopped a few days ago.

I have not gotten my documents yet either but my TA said that she was notified that they are on their way to me. HTH
