Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

I was going to post this on the main DCL board but I feel a bit safer here with you all.. my crusin' peeps. :goodvibes

Have you all thought about packing yet? It is currently about 15 degrees here and we are supposed to get about 3 inches of snow tomorrow... on top of the 38 inches of snow we have gotten since Dec. 8th. :scared: <- is he crying because I sure am! ;) Do you know how hard it is to find a snorkel in February in Nebraska? :rotfl:

So anyway.. Are you all packing an outfit for each day and then each night? or are you just wearing swim stuff/cover ups and then an outfit for night?

So like on Nassau day.. we are planning on staying on the ship. So could we just wear swim suits and cover ups during the day and then have nice clothes to change into for dinner or should we have another outfit for the day as well? Do we need regular clothes for lunch?

Arrgh I dont know why I am fretting over this. As a military wife I am an uber planner and organizer. I can have my household packed and ready to move before you can finish saying "We have orders!" :rotfl:
I guess with that I have done it so many times that I have it down to a science but DCL is all so new to me.

Wow, Tammy, I love your FE and your pillowcases! You've done a great job! I will try and post a pic of my FE, which I finally finished this weekend.

I was looking at some other cruise meet threads, and I've got to say that ours is, by far, the liveliest, most fun group out there! We are so lucky to be sailing together - we are going to have a blast! And a lot of it, I believe, is thanks to Tammy (aka dthogue). Your FE updates and regular posts have really kept the momentum going, you are awesome! :thumbsup2 Thank you so much for the amazing FE lists - I especially love the Excel spreadsheet, it is a lifesaver. Thanks for keeping us organized!

Happy packing, everyone! Tomorrow is February.....:cool1:

I started packing today (love the ebags packing cubes by the way) & have my son almost done. For each of us, I'm packing one outfit for the day & one outfit for the evening. The kids will each get one or two spare "play" outfits -- just in case.

I decided to get all their play clothes packed -- I can just put the hanging items in at the last minute. We're having snow day again tomorrow, so I might have my daughter help me work on hers.

Hi Corey,

Good luck with that snorkel ;) We pack one outfit for daytime - if you are staying on the ship, swimsuits are fine for the day - just remember that you will need to cover up to go to the restaurants for lunch. For dinner, my DD's have a different outfit for each night, I am packing 3 pairs of pants and different tops for each night, DH packs 2 pairs of pants and different shirts for each night.

That was so sweet of you - thanks for the compliments. I just love getting on her and talking "Disney" with folks who understand :lovestruc

I hope that we can all meet up once on the ship - it would be great to put faces to names.

okay, I just had this long post on where to find snorkels in the Port area. Somehow my computer decided to eat it before I could post. Anyway, the Walmarts are carrying the snorkel/mask combo here. I just picked a few sets up at the I-95/Wickham Rd. one, but there are two Walmarts closer to the Port that have them as well. One is off 528 on Clearlake and the other is on 520 off A1A.

I am so totally unfamiliar with how the cruise "meets" work. Could someone explain the initials to me? What is "DH" or the other abreveations? BTW, I can't spell either, lol. Thanks, I appreciate any help. We are going on the 4 day Bahama cruise sailing on Feb. 28, 2010.:rolleyes1

Hi girls, :hippie: I see from your posts that you both are pretty well educated on using this system of communication.:teacher: So..... if you would be ever so kind as to help an old lady and her husband. Our children :dance3:gave us this cruise for a Christmas present :santa:and this is our first cruise. Our kids went on their first cruise last year and decided that it was the thing for us to do. My husband and I are retired and still quite active :yay:so we want to do lots of stuff.:cool1: We sail on Feb 28 from Port Canaveral. Is this the same cruise that you will be taking?

I understand from my daughter in law that meeting people on these boards will help us to understand and be more familiar with how the cruise works. We have scheduled a sightseeing tour on Nassau and then we will be on Castaway Cay most of that day we are docked there.

So any thing you may offer would be great. Our stateroom is on level 2 and we have been fortunate to be upgraded to a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom.

Thanks in advance for your help. Martha

Oh there will definitely be cover ups! I am so modest that I would wear the cover up into the pool and while swimming if I could. :lmao:

I would prefer to change into clothes before lunch but I get that it may not be possible so I will have as much covered up as possible. ;);)

Hi Corey, We are in Buford, GA, 40 miles northeast of Atlanta. Are you still online now?

I'll be interested to see the answers to your post too. It took me a while to figure out the abbreviations and I'm still stumped on some. I'll be travelling with my 7 year old granddaughter. We are going to do the dolphin encounter at Nassau and the Stingray at Castaway. Lucky you on the oceanview - we were upgrated to a cat. 11 on deck 7. It's a handicap room, but I guess that's ok - can't seem to get many reviews on it (7131). Check out the staterooms and the deck plans at the top of this forum. Very helpful.

My husband (Amos) and I are in room 2046 on level 2. Hopefully we will get some answers soon. Have a great day in the Windy City.

Hi I posted a message to you and can't wait to hear from you. Have a great day...

Hi Angie, I am very new to this "crusising". My husband (Amos) and I (Martha) will be in stateroom 2046 and if possible would like to be a part of your group. If it would make it too many, then maybe we could join another one. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Wow this board is getting busy! Welcome new posters! I love that we have self proclaimed "tight wad bargain hunters" and "uber planners" on this board. :cutie:

To whomever asked: DH, DS, DD refer to husband, son, daughter with the prefix of dear or darling, whichever your prefer.

Regarding packing a lot of clothes, I am going to pack daywear for each day also like someone else said. I might actually pack some t-shirts I don't care about for my girls and if we end up having to leave them behind to make room for souvenirs coming home, then so be it. Actually my concern right now is shoes, I have like five pair I want to bring just for myself! How silly is that? Oh, how to choose.....?

Anyway, If anyone needs a good read to get into the caribbean spirit, pick up Michael Crichton's newest publication, Pirate Latitudes. I don't ever read that kind of thing (more of an Oprah book club kind of gal), but I just finished it in three days and really enjoyed it! Now I've got DH reading it. :thumbsup2
Ahoy Mateys there's treasure buried on Castaway Cay, I just know it.pirate:

I understand completely. I got an iTouch for my birthday in Nov. and I love it. Thanks for the idea of putting this blog on the iTouch. I enjoy eating at Panera and especially the oriental dressing.

Welcome Martha:welcome:

It looks like Cindy gave you the main abbreviations. Any others that you don't know, just ask!

If you look through some of the past post, you will be able to get an idea of who will be sailing on the same cruise. It seems like a really great group! The FE exchange is past it's cut off date. There needed to be enough time for everyone to finish their FE gifts.:thumbsup2 Not all of us here are participating in it:rolleyes1 so don't worry about being the only one that is not.

If you scroll through the Disney cruise line FAQ a lot of questions are answered there. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2068966

I don't think that we have decided on an official 'cruise meet' on board.

As to packing, I already plan on way over packing. I get cold easy so we will all have warm weather clothes, cool weather clothes, swim wear, and dinner wear for each day.:lmao: Shoe are another matter. I think that I have it narrowed down to 3 pairs for each of us. I am sure that I will add things when packing.

Hi Martha,

Welcome :welcome: to our cruise thread - so glad that you found us :woohoo:

You will find that we are a very friendly group. Several others have answered some of your questions. Please feel to post specific questions you may have and we'll all try our best to answer them.

Congrats on your upgrade - we also were upgraded to a deluxe oceanview, but we will be on deck one.

What are your travel plans? When are you arriving? How are you getting to the port? Are you doing WDW before or after the cruise? Are you doing late or early seating dinner?

As mentioned earlied on the main Cruise Line forum at the top of the page is sticky that has all the information you might need to know about cruising with DCL. Take a look at the Navigators that are posted for previous 4-day cruises - that will give you an idea of what to expect and when. I have spent many hours looking over them, so I have an idea what we want to do and when. It will tell you when/what the evening shows, when the movies are playing and what activities will be going.

We haven't arranged an official meeting, but stay tuned to see if everyone wants to schedule one.

Tammy
