Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

okay, I just had this long post on where to find snorkels in the Port area. Somehow my computer decided to eat it before I could post. Anyway, the Walmarts are carrying the snorkel/mask combo here. I just picked a few sets up at the I-95/Wickham Rd. one, but there are two Walmarts closer to the Port that have them as well. One is off 528 on Clearlake and the other is on 520 off A1A.

Angie,

If we are coming to the Port from the WDW area, which on of these Walmarts would be the best on to stop at? Brenna wants to snorkel - I was going to rent the equipment on CC, but its $25/pp :scared1: Geez, I just want to use it for a few hours, not own it forever!!

Does anyone want to try to get together on embarkation day? I was thinking maybe we could meet around 3:00pm near the toddler water play area at the Mickey Pool.

This would give us a little time to meet each other before the mandatory safety drill???

Maybe we could wear a lime green ribbon to identify each other?

Let me know!

That sounds like a great idea ;) count us in !

I was going to post this on the main DCL board but I feel a bit safer here with you all.. my crusin' peeps. :goodvibes

Have you all thought about packing yet? It is currently about 15 degrees here and we are supposed to get about 3 inches of snow tomorrow... on top of the 38 inches of snow we have gotten since Dec. 8th. :scared: <- is he crying because I sure am! ;) Do you know how hard it is to find a snorkel in February in Nebraska? :rotfl:

So anyway.. Are you all packing an outfit for each day and then each night? or are you just wearing swim stuff/cover ups and then an outfit for night?

So like on Nassau day.. we are planning on staying on the ship. So could we just wear swim suits and cover ups during the day and then have nice clothes to change into for dinner or should we have another outfit for the day as well? Do we need regular clothes for lunch?

Arrgh I dont know why I am fretting over this. As a military wife I am an uber planner and organizer. I can have my household packed and ready to move before you can finish saying "We have orders!" :rotfl:
I guess with that I have done it so many times that I have it down to a science but DCL is all so new to me.

I'm feeling your "frett" ;) It's confusing because I've heard it's cold on deck at night and you don't want to be unprepared , but then with little ones ,are we really gonna be on deck outside for long periods of time anyhow especially if it is cold? So I probably over packed,For the little ones I packed a shorts/shirt outfit for day and capris/shirt/jacket for night( The rest of us will be fine with shorts at night, I think) and something dressy for each dinner, everyones packing some jeans/long sleeve shirts and a jacket , 2 workout outfits, bathing suits and cover ups. Then theres the shoes, I'm taking 5 for sure. uugghh! It's fun and exhausting at the same time:) Good Luck!

Sounds like a great idea! We will be there!

I think we will end up packing clothes for a wide range of temperatures and occasions, too. And, oh, the shoes! I hear you....5 pairs sounds about right!

Please bear with me as I haven't posted photos in awhile. Here is my finished FE - sorry if it looks gigantic....it's not really that big... Now I just have to finish putting together our FE gifts.

It depends if you are going to make any side trip when you are in the Port area.

If you plan to drive from WDW directly to the Port, the Cocoa Walmart will probably work. Take 528 to exit 45 toward 524/Clearlake Road. I think that the road you merge into is Industry at the exit. Take a left at Clearlake and it will be down a little bit. I would guess it is about a mile from the exit to the store.

If you plan on seeing some of the sights in Cocoa Beach then the 520 Merritt Island Walmart would be a better choice. The A1A and 520 intersection are at the corner where Ron'Jon's Surf Shop, Beach Wave and The Dinosaur Store. From the port you would head south down A1A until you get to 520. Take a right at the corner, go over the Cocoa Beach causeway and the store will be on your right.

The mask/snorkels I bought for the girls are kids 10+ and cost $10 for each set. I could probably hunt down a phone number if you wanted to make sure that they have them there. We bought ours in Viera and there were probably 30 of each size on the racks. They were definitely stocked for warmer weather.:rotfl:

Great FE!:thumbsup2

Wait, why lime green? Is this a Tinkerbell thing?:tinker:

I think lime green is the color of the DIS boards - I have read in the past about people using that color to indentify other DISer's - well or maybe I'm just imagining that - who knows, at this point I could be very confused :confused3

Thanks for the directions Angie - we will be driving straight to the port. Maybe I will look up the address online and put it into the GPS - that way I won't get lost. I'm gonna check our Walmart here to - the summer stuff is slowly coming out around here - my DD tried on bathing suits yesterday :beach:

2 workout outfitsQUOTE]

Are you planning on hitting the gym? I just starting strength training last week and am hoping to continue while on the cruise - Wishful thinking on my part, but I really want to try to maintain my program while away.

I have been exercising every morning with a indoor walking program on DVD, I was thinking of bringing it along, just in case I don't get enough walking in on the cruise or at WDW :rotfl:, then there's always the elipitcal!!

Tammy

I just read another post on the boards that said the slide would be opened by 2/25, so I guess we'll be able to use it. How cool is that??? I thought it'd be Summer (same as the cabanas).

Still thawing out here in Tennessee. Kids have their 3rd snow day tomorrow -- unbelievable to me since I grew up in West Michigan. We have lots more snow days here than I remember having there. With that being said, I am sooo ready for this vacation!

Does putting a suitcase at the foot of my bed and randomly tossing things in for the past few weeks count as packing?:confused3:lmao: The twins swimsuits are in there, as well as DS17's pirate shirt. and some odds and ends. This weekend I'll resolve to get our pirate gear in there.pirate:

re: outfits - I always pack an outfit for each day, and then wear the same thing everyday anyway! I find I end up in my bathing suit and throwing on shorts and tshirt over that all day long.

I wonder how warm it will be though, outside on the ship by the pool? I don't like to be chilly...hmmm. Do you think capris are more likely than shorts? a light sweater or sweatshirt?

Some excitement here...finalized a design for our family's Embarkation Day t-shirts and bought the blank t-shirts today! Woo Hoo!:woohoo: Will try to do the iron-ons this weekend. Going to work on door signs tonight (shhh, don't tell my sister, BeautyFan!) :upsidedow

Wow! $25 to rent??? So not worth it!!! Check Costco - I've gotten mine there in the past, and I'm fairly certain I saw it stocked there last week! Might cost around $35, but then you'll have it..well, forever. :upsidedow

Good for you, Tammy, that's awesome!!! I have been a slug, I admit. I did start to try to lose a few pounds this week; hope I can make a minor difference by cruise time (still haven't lost the cruise pounds I put on the Magic this August!). Since I don't work out regularly, I always feel like a fraud when I go in the ship's gym, so these days I avoid it!:rotfl: I do, however, take the stairs almost exclusively (ok, I cheated a bit this past summer when we were stationed on Deck 2!!!) and walk a few laps on the promenade deck every day. That should be good for one extra creme' brulee per meal, don't you think?:rolleyes1

Lime Green ribbon at the Mickey Pool at 3:00 sounds good to me. Are any of the young girls wearing princess dresses to "dress up night"? I bought one last year at WDW for my granddaughter and would like to see her get some use out of it. We are not participating in the FE, but would like to meet all of you. We have an early dinner seating. I thought I'd rent snorkel gear for my granddaughter and borrow it from her if need be. Can't imagine how we can both snorkel and me keep an eye on her at the same time. That way, it will only cost $10. We will be doing the stingray encounter.

Yes, my DD8 wants to wear her Cinderella dress that night. We are having breakfast with Cinderella at WDW the week before the cruise, so we thought she'd be able to wear it twice this way! Got a great deal on the dress at the Disney store a couple of months ago, btw - less than half price!:thumbsup2

Perfect. My granddaughter will be wearing hers too! :dance3:
