Feb. 26, 2012 Mexican Riviera

I would love to know more about what the FE is. Now I just have to figure out how to post a new count down ticker!!!

The Fish Extender is a pocket thing you hang from the fish shaped hook outside your cabin room. If you join the FE exchange group, you hang up a Fish Extender outside your cabin, and exchange little gifts with other who are in the group, by putting something in their extender.
Here is a thread with some basic info about it:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1219607

and here is another thread with homemade gift ideas:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1980639&highlight=fe+homemade+gifts

It's really fun, not just for kids, and you can either give one gift to each cabin, or a gift to each person in the cabin, or gifts a few times throughout the cruise, or just once. No real set rules, just exchange and have fun!

If you want to join our cruise's FE Exchange, sign up on ours!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2807092

and then we'll have a list of who is in which cabin so we know where to leave our gifts, and you and your family will arrive back at your room each night to discover fun surprises waiting for you! Kind of like a secret santa!

Depending on the amount of cabins in the exchange you can decide if you want to do big gifts or little ones... obviously you're not going to do some huge elaborate gift for 60 different cabins. But for 10, maybe. You get the idea? It's really just about the fun, not necessarily what you get!

Please tell me more about the main vs late dining. I have read a lot that family with young kids are better off at main dinning, so that is where we are currently. My kids are 6 and 3. Are we better off at late dining do you think?

Eric

Late dining (8pm) is when dinner starts. As soon as your are seated, there are counselors from the kids clubs that go around the tables asking if your children would like to do the 'dine n play'. If you do, then the kids' meals and drinks are fast tracked, and served first. Once the kids eat, the counselors take them to the kids clubs and can be picked up at your leisure.

This leaves the adults kid-less for the rest of dinner. :)

Our boys (6-8) couldn't get enough of it. It was like pulling teeth the get them to leave the clubs. lol. They loved it that much. (Plus on out last sailing, we did the W. Carib, and we are from Seattle, (West Coast time) so 8pm was more like 5 to us.)

We really love the late dining. Our DD (9) went with the cast member to the kids club and we were able to enjoy a nice quiet evening taking in some of the entertainment in the Cadillac Lounge, etc.

We are soooo excited about this trip. It can't come soon enough! We are excited because our best friends have also booked now too so that will add to the fun!

I wonder if Disney will do anything special on the cruise for Leap Day! It will be so fun spending the extra day we have next year on the cruise! :)

So who else is joining the FE exchange?? We only have 3 families so far :rolleyes1......

It will be fun:banana:!!!

Does anyone know if kids are still free? We just got off the Magic on Saturday on the Eastern. We rebooked another Eastern for February, but are now considering this cruise. We thought it would be fun to try it. Although, we've never been to Mexico before. It will be so hard to miss Castaway Cay!! It was our favorite part of the trip. Any suggestions or anyone know about the kids free?

Thanks!
Lisa

Ok! We went ahead and booked it! Yeah!! We would like to join the FE too! My kids loved it last week when we kept coming to our room and finding new "treasures".

Has anyone been to these ports before? If so, have any suggestions of what to do there? We've never been to Mexico before.

Thanks!
Lisa

I am finally joining this thread. We paid the deposit on the cruise a week ago and bought our flights yesterday so now it is really official that we are going. This will be our first Disney cruise and we are really looking forward to it. We hope to be able to spend a couple of days at Disneyland before the cruise too.

We were in Vancouver on vacation in May and saw the Wonder leaving for Alaska. At that time we had no idea that we would be sailing on her at all. Thanks to the KSF promotion we will now.

We took some pictures as she was leaving. What a beautiful site!

Excited to be booked on the 2/26 sailing on the Wonder! I'm actually going to be on the ship next week (10/16 sailing) and I'm excited to go again just a few months later!

We are a group of five adult women and all working professionals. We're very excited to spend some quality time together and relax the Disney way!

Hi there. Thats cool we are on the same cruise and little ones about the same ages too. This is also our first cruise and we are so excited. Well, I think maybe I am a little more than the others :) Maybe its because I grew up in Ireland far away from any Disney, I'm trying to make up for lost time now.

Anway, keep in touch so we can help each other prepare for the cruise.

One area I'm having some trouble with is deciding on port excursions. Should we do them, if so which ones? Have you put any thought into that?

Where abouts do you guys live in SD? Maybe send me a private message

Eric

We did one of the beach/pool resorts last time in PV and really enjoyed it. It was the resort with the funny shape and the water slides that look like crocodiles. I'd recommend it. (BUT, one of my girls had an allergic reaction to the chlorine in the pool, she does have sensitive skin, but they had something in there that gave her a rash, the DCL pool didn't do it.)

In Cabo we did a harbor cruise. Cheap and fun.

This year we're hoping to do the Calitas (sp?) beach getaway in PV and in Cabo we have nothing planned.

I can't wait! :yay:

We aren't sure what to do as far as shore excursions. We might just wander around Cabo and PV a bit on our own. However there are some very fun looking excursions so we'll have to figure this out as we get closer.

Do these fill up so fast that you have to book before the cruise or can you do it when you are on the ship?

135 days to go!
