Finally, I get to start my TR. This is something that I have been looking forward to. I am a proud military wife and we just made a PCS move to Savannah, GA. This is why it took me so long to start this report. Our cruise was orginally for May as soon as the kids got out of school. The Army made us break our plans when they told us we would PCS in March. So, we rescheduled our cruise for the middle of the move. While on the cruise, the kids had been asked several times where they were from....:rotfl2: Well, since our household goods had been picked up already and we had not moved anywhere, they really did not know what to say. Good thing I was always there to explain the situation. I am glad my kids were never asked this question on stage, I know my 9 yr old son, he would proudly say something like, "well, we do not have a home, right now we are homeless...but my sister was born in Germany." I would be saying, "whos kid is that anyway?":rolleyes1

I will start by saying that we had a very MAGICAL 7 night cruise. We had a blast. No, I am not going to write about every thing that happened, just the highlights. If not, you would be here for YEARS reading everything we did on our cruise.

our wonderful cast:
Me (Becki)
DH (Tony)
DMom (Linda)
DS - 14 (Hunter)
DS - 9 (Jonah)
DD - 6 (Destiny)

Saturday Day 1
We had stayed at a hotel about an hour away from Port Canaveral. So, we all awoke on cloud nine:cloud9: knowing today was boarding day! We made a quick stop to get my Hunter's hair cut then back on the road! As we were traveling, we were passing all the DCL buses that were taking the people to the ship from the Disney hotels. I know these people thought we were crazy. Every time we would pass one, I was smileing at them and my kids were waving at the bus. We were so excited...dont know why seeing the DCL buses made it more exciting....kinda weird now that I think about it. :lmao: Then, we saw it, the Magic. I was getting teary. I can not imagion what my Mom was thinking as she saw it. This was her 1st cruise (ever).

Boarding had already started and was very painless. I signed us in as Tony signed the kids into to the clubs. Then, we walked onto THE MAGIC.

Notice the matching Mickey Mouse Polo shirts (that was my idea and yes, my family has gota love me). I went to change our palo reservations and dining to early seating. Both were easy to do - walk in walk out. We tried to go to Parrot Cay for lunch but it was a 30 min wait so we went to Topsiders.

After lunch, Mom watched the kids in the mickey pool while Tony and I went to the rooms. Tony, Destiny, & myself were in a room. Dmom, Hunter, & Jonah were in a room together. We decorated our room for Destiny (she was turning 6 in 2 days). And we left goodie baskets for the kids and Mom.
HINT: Do not overpack "goodies" I had worried about the kids having "suprises". They were so busy during the cruise that they never played with the toys. Basically, I packed "goodies" and then I repacked then to come home. It really was a waste. A few are ok, but when you try to pack a little something for 3 kids for 7 nights....it was too much!
Destiny did love her room decorated. I would say that was NOT a waste!

We took the kids to the sailaway party.
100_1088.jpg

The boys were not interested. But, Destiny LOVED it! She stayed until it was over.....man, it seemed like forever! She was front row dancing and catching all the action!
Most people left after the CM's left and handed it over to the band. Destiny still was all into it and stayed until the band was finished. Afterwards, a family came up to us, it was bkfor and his family. He had a daughter Destiny's age and they had chatted on the dis boards. They met again quiet a few times in the club and we even did the dolphin encounter with them (thats to come on cozumel day).

We had 1st seating and tonight was Parrot Cay.

After dinner we went to the Walt Disney theatre to see ALL ABOARD LET THE MAGIC BEGIN. We always got to the theatre early so we could walk in when the doors opened. BEWARE: people will knock you over to get to the front seats. we always sat in the first few rows because I am a "picture taker" (meaning I drive my family crazy taking pics of EVERYTHING). Since you can not use flash in the threare, I needed to be close. There was 1 family whom every night pushed and shoved thier way to front row. The kids were rude and hit people in the back of the heads, shoved people and were very disrespectful. We never ran down the stairs in the theatre and still got first few rows. One night, we were not going fast enough and the mom of this certain family pushed my daughter out of her way so she could run down to the front. WOW....humm....no wonder why the kids act the way they do. Back to the show, it was great (as all the shows are on DCL).
100_1119.jpg

Oh, Hunter did not go to the show with us. He left for the teen club and we never saw him again. No, just kidding. It was a rare experience to see him. Every night the waiters would ask where is he? We did make him eat with us on formal night. If you have a teenager, on a cruise, they vanish! Seriously, you will find them crashed in bed the next morning. The teen club does not open until noon. For those of you without teens, the reason for this is because they stay out until 2 or 3 am. So, they all sleep until noon!

I will be adding a few pics during this TR. But, if you wish to see more, I have uploaded about 500 or so pics from this cruise on my yahoo360 page.

up next: day 2- palo and key west

You have a beautiful family. Your daughter is adorable.
I looked at most all of your pictures and was curious about the cruise you went on April 10-15, 2006. Was that on a Carnival ship? How do they compare to disney?
I was also wondering about how much of a Military dicount that DCL gave you? My son is a Marine and he loved the DCL cruise I took him on when he was 16. I'd love for him to go again.

Thanks for sharing

Hi Becca!

Yay - another TR from our Feb 24 Western cruise! Since we never did meet that week, I am looking forward to hearing how your week was!

Thank you for the comments.
My Destiny is a :cutie: and she knows it. she is a real life princess. princess:

We have went on RCCL and Carnival. No, nothing compares to disney.

The military discounts are GREAT! Your son can get a military discount on up to 3 rooms. Military discounts are not released until about 2 months prior. Which in a way is good because we in the military can not book a year or so in advance. We never know if they will be deployed or if he can take leave. I actually had to change our cruise date 4 times. We got a really good military discount for Feb. I was so excited, we needed that vacation! The best place to keep up with the military discount is:
www.allseastravel.com

Hope your son gets to go soon! They all need a break! Tell him we are all praying for them. Maybe, oneday, they will all be home for good! Tony knows he will deploy again around August. So, I know when he comes home we will enjoy the Eastern Disney! So, for now, I plan and we start to save our pennies.

I will start with day 2 tomorrow. My plan is to do a day of vacation TR everyday. That way I do not overload myself and you all.

Hi Becca!

I hate our families never met! Its weird how I thought we would all find eachother somehow. On a ship - 7 days. The only DIS person we met was bkfor and family. After meeting, we ran into them over and over again. This is a cute pic of Destiny and Emma on formal night.
100_1286.jpg

Who would have guessed, they both had dressed as Cinderella.

Hi Becca,

Great report and cute kids. My youngest was 5 when we PCS's from Guam to Florida. We stayed in Hawaii for a few days since that is where you have to fly through. We were at Pearl Harbor, and some man asked him where he was from. He told him he was homeless!!!! So I had to explain to a perfect stanger our whole life story. So even at 5 he thought he was funny. He was also born in Germany.

Enjoy your time in. We are now retired and I miss all the traveling.

Thanks again for the TR.
Joanne

Sunday - Day 2 Key West

Today Tony, Mom, and I had a Palo reservation for brunch at 11:00. So, we ordered room service for the kids. We ordered room service many, many, many times during our cruise. We really enjoy room service. :thumbsup2 I did not eat anything because I had plans...plans to pig out in front of everyone at Palo. :goodvibes We dropped Jonah and Destiny at the clubs while Hunter went off to see some friends. We had a very nice brunch.
100_1152.jpg

We sampled the buffet foods
100_1146.jpg

then Tony and I both ordered the omlet. YUMMY.....
100_1145.jpg

But, so much for my pigging out. I was stuffed and could not finish my omlet. Sorry, I can not remember what my mom ordered. But, everything we had was tasty!
100_1149.jpg

We left to get the kids and start our day in Key West.
100_1170.jpg

YES, that is my husband! the one on the left with the "filled out red tank top." Yes, I still love him.

Our family has found that we like to plan and do things on our own time. We stay away from excursions on a cruise if we can.
HINT: Most excursions you can do on your own. You are on your own time and can come and go as you please. Plus, you save money..really usually lots of money. Before the cruise, I had made an itinerary. On Becki's itinerary today was to visit The Pirate Museum and the Aquarium.

First we walked to the pirate Museum.
100_1168.jpg

The boys have been to the one in Nassau and really loved it. They are really into pirates. I can say that if you are not into pirates, skip this one. The admission was $14 adults and $ 8 kids. So, even with 4 adults (teenager was adult price) and 2 kids, thats alot cheaper than the $ 30 or so per person that you would pay as an excursion.
Back to the museum, this was a waste for us girls. As soon as we entered the museum, Hunter walked up behind Destiny and said agrrr....Well, this scared her to death. :scared: So she began to "whine". Then, you come to a room where there is a head and skeleton hanging from the ceiling. Well, Destiny got a peek at the room and cried. My Mom gladly took her out of the museum. I think Mom was glad to get out of there. Like me, I am sure she was bored to tears. Like I said men and boys, it may be thier "cup of tea". But ladies and little girls, skip this one and go shopping while the boys go. Speaking of shopping, right across from the museum entrance, there is a "shop". Tony did not pay attention to the outside and wondered in while we were waiting. he was a little shocked ...it was a sex store. I am sure mom was wondering what is he doing? Why am I telling you this? Well, we also saw a little kid wonder in there and the parents have to run and get her. So, just a fair warning.

Next up the Aquarium.
100_1195.jpg

This we all enjoyed. The Key West Aquarium is very small compared to other Aquariums we have visited. Destiny and Jonah walked in and saw the "touch tank". They began to pick up starfish, crabs, counch, sea cucumbers, etc....
100_1181.jpg

the price of admission was $10 adults and $5 children. Even though small worth the small fee.

Before long it was time to head back to the ship. Of course Destiny and Jonah wanted to swim. This is Destiny on the Mickey slide.
100_1211.jpg

We visited Goofy's for a wrap...once again YUMMY!
100_1213.jpg

Tonight's dinner was at Lumiere's.
100_1216.jpg

100_1220.jpg

Destiny wanted to go to the club so she was not with us for dinner. The waiters were like "ok, so you lost another kid?" After dinner we went to the WD theatre to see Gary Delena (rock and roll comedy). He was funny and Jonah really enjoyed the show. So much that one morning in Topsiders Jonah asked Gary to sign his autograph book. ;) What an honor, he's right in there with Mickey and Cinderella! Destiny and Hunter loved being with thier "clubs". Jonah on the other hand, does not like to go to the club. He like to hang around with us. I dont really think it has anything to do with the clubs. I think it is just his personality. Plus, he is a "moma's boy". Shhhh...dont tell him I told you that.

coming tomorrow:
1st Day at sea, formal night, and DESTINY'S 6th bday!

Did you get the table at Lumiere's right in front of the mural? That must have been great! :goodvibes

Yes, table 61! That is my Mom, she is sitting in her seat she had for dinner. I loved it. what wonderful artwork! Destiny missed both dinners in Lumiere's. So, one morning we went for breakfast. I asked to be seated by the mural and they were not sitting anyone in that section. :guilty:

I'm loving your report! Your children are adorable. Look at Destiny in another Princess dress - so cute. princess:

Aha! You had Chao-Romano as your server in Palo! Wasn't he great? We had him for brunch and enjoyed him so much we requested him for our Palo dinner a couple days later. Hope he treated you well!

Thanks! Destiny has many princess dresses so she said she was going to wear one every night for dinner. I dont know if you can see it in the Cinderella pic but we even found her some "glass slippers". Once we got on the cruise, plans changed. 2 nights she was in the club during dinner. Some nights she would put the dress on just to take a pic then off it came (she did not want to wear it to the club). I thought she was adorable. Plus, next cruise she will be too old to wear them. :guilty:

He did treat us well! He was so sweet. He was trying to serve the soft served ice cream on Castaway Cay. The machine was having issues. The ice cream was way to soft so that was kinda funny.

Today Destiny awoke to presents in bed. She opened them and was so excited. Today was our first day at sea. Destiny and Jonah met and took pictures with many characters. Minnie Mouse noticed Destiny had on a shirt that said Happy Birthday. Minnie had the photographer and the CM sing Happy Birthday to her. This was sooo....cute! A little more :wizard: pixie dust!

The kids all went to the club for a little while. Mom, Tony, and I went to find the "secret veranda". It was what I expected. But, as others have said, its not much of a secret. There some people there tanning and reading. It was quiet which was nice. We took a few pics and said we would come back later. We never had the time to make it back. Funny how you say you will do things while you are planning. I was going to tan on the "secret veranda", I was going to the adult pool everyday (Mom and I went twice the whole cruise), and I was going to the adult beach on castway for awhile and enjoy thier buffet (we never even made it to the adult beach). But, I have no regrets. Just more things to look forward to on the next cruise:thumbsup2

I thought you would like to get a view of the pools on a sea day.

You do not want to see the Mickey Pool!:scared1:

After we picked Destiny up, she had fun hula hooping,

100_1272.jpg

then got her hair braided.

100_1282.jpg

HINT: I would not advise the beads if your daughter has long, curly hair.
Destiny has long curly hair (like ringlets from a perm). When she got her hair braided, the lady put beads in also. The braids were fine but over a few days, her hair tangled around the beads. A MESS when it was time to cut out the rubber bands! Also, do not forget to spray sun screen in the rows of her scalp. We sprayed Destiny often and her scalp never burned.

Before the cruise Destiny had said she really wanted to be in Animators for her b-day. I knew had had very little control over this so you can imagion how happy I was when I found out we would be! Tonight was formal night. I did tell Hunter he had to go to dinner with us tonight. Oh what fun, for a teen to hang out with the family. Oh, well, he did not no complaints. He did run and change right after dinner. The "animators color changing show" was nice and the kids kept a close eye on all the pictures. Destiny's favorite character is Ariel. She had a good view of the Ariel picture.

After dinner, Stephan (our head server) came out with a b-day cake for Destiny. I think I was more excited than she was. They sang happy birthday to her. This is a picture of our servers. They were both great and very pleasing.I can not think of thier names but I will look that up soon.

100_1331.jpg

Tonights show was Twice Charmed. If you have not saw this one, please do! If you have little girls, they will be in heaven watching this fairy tale. It is my favorite of the shows on DCL.

What a wonderful way to end a very MAGICAL DAY. I know this is a birthday that Destiny will never forget! She was a real princess and really got the ROYAL treatment. No one can take these memories away from her. They will last a lifetime. Ok, now I sound like a Disney commercial.

up tomorrow: Grand Cayman
Sting Ray City, city tour, turtle farm, pirate night, and dwarfs
