We have done mr sanchos beach 3 X in Cozumel. What was great was ore booking n cost was 45 adult n 25 child all inclusive incld snorkel n kayak. We r considering nache this time around to try something new. What's their web site?

The disboards don't allow outside hyperlinks but if you google search for Nachi Cocom it is one of the first links that come up. It is a little more expensive, and the watersports aren't included, but for us it was terrific. The food is really good, and the adult beverages aren't weak. :lmao:

I can see for the younger kids that it might be a little boring--my kids just hung out in the hammocks with their food and their books the whole time :). They weren't even all that interested in the pool. My DS is usually pretty active, but he seemed to really get into the whole 'beach bum' routine, if only for a few hours.

Did you book that through DCL? I looked at it, but wasn't sure about the trip out there and back (seemed like it was kind of a hassle to get there...)

Yes - we did it through DCL - you do have to travel to the mainland via ferry, then bus to the park (walk is about 5 minutes to bus) but there is a guide through the whole thing. My family didn't seem to mind.

Guide - will try to sell camera's, sunscreen, etc. he also stays in the park til everyone is ready to leave (everyone meets at a given time at the beginning of the park) and takes you back to ferry.

Buffet - is not spectacular -

We go for the zip lining and caverns

FYI - Lockers are available free of charge (though we don't use them we are use to traveling light - everything goes into a waterproof pouch and in a zip pocket of the swim suits).

Nice. I am just happy we were able to get 1st seating.

And you just booked while onboard last month, right? I am wondering if this particular itinerary isn't as likely to be full, at least until the last minute...

Getting excited! Barb made us grand slam graphics which I shall use for our shirts ;) excited!! I put in our info on the fe list u posted. Hope I did it correctly!! All for Facebook too. ;)

Happy Saturday fellow cruisers! :wave2:

Just filled out the passport renewal forms for the kids, since their current documents expire just less than 6 months before the cruise. Another sign that the cruise is getting closer! Glad that the gov't is open again; the website says to expect a 4 week turnaround for the passports, which isn't too bad. IIRC last time they estimated 4 weeks but we got the documents much quicker than that, so we'll see.

Have made my final payment as well, so now I just need to wait for my booking window to open up--how many other Silver cruisers will be staying up late on November 17 to catch the 12 midnight Nov 18 window opening? my DH was thinking about joining, but prices have gone up enough that even with our OBB credit he thinks it is too much :(

Hello again cruisers :)
I went ahead and created a new Facebook group, so that folks can find it easier. Here is the link:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/529830043759125/

It is a 'closed' group, which means that it is searchable by title and members are viewable, but no posts are visible unless you are a member. Members have to be approved by me, so please direct message me here on Disboards and let me know you've sent a request to join (along with what your facebook name is, so I know which request it is), and I will add you. Current group members can add other members, so if your kids are on Facebook and want to be added you can do that directly once I add you.

After it seems like all who are interested have joined, I will change the privacy settings to 'secret' which means the group will no longer be searchable (I think that is why we couldn't find the group set up by 1princess2boys).

So, some advice from those that a NOT first time cruisers...

We are on this trip with another couple and their triplets (age 8), our DD is age 10. None of us have done a Disney Cruise before - our family have never done any cruise.

We want to have one couples-only night going out to Palo. We would prefer not to do this on the same night as Pirate Night. We would also prefer not to do it on the first night. We also don't really want to miss dinner at Animator's Palette (and would prefer to check out all 3). Obviously we are going to try and all be on the same dining rotation.

Based on the schedule posted (12231) and not knowing which dining rotation we would be on, I am thinking that the smartest night to do this would be night two - which I believe is "formal night", and whatever restaurant we miss, we would be back there again the next night anyways for Pirate night.

The second best night would probably be the last night I guess, right?

Any opinions? All advice appreciated.

(I don't know about the FE yet, it is not really my thing - and I haven't had my wife look at it yet.)

First cruises are very exciting :)

As a first suggestion, you can have the reservations for your family and your friends' family 'linked', which will guarantee not only that you have the same seating, but that they will put you together at the same table. This can be done by your travel agent or if you booked directly you can just contact DCL directly with both confirmation numbers. We did this when we cruised with friends, and it worked really well; we could catch up over dinner if we'd gone our separate ways during the day.

As far as booking Palo, yes, if you go on Night 2 that is likely to be formal night, and seems to make the most sense as you won't 'miss anything' as far as the 3 different restaurants. It also has the advantage of being a 'sea day' which I have found to be much more relaxing than port days and set up nicely for a more grown-up dinner. Be aware that if your Palo reservations are later in the evening, you can still go to your regular seating with the kids and choose not to eat much, or can send the kids ahead on their own if you are comfortable doing that (servers are generally very good at handling the older kids if you let them know ahead of time that you will be dining at Palo). Some parents just get their kids counter service quick dinner beforehand and then send them off to the Clubs while they dine at Palo--lots of different ways to handle that situation. I haven't done the Palo dinner yet (DH wasn't interested in missing dinner with the kids), but I have seen posts and had friends who have handled Palo dinners in each of these ways.

The only downside of going to Palo on the last night is that it is also a Castaway Cay day, and your bags have to be packed and out in the hall fairly early that evening (I think by 8, IIRC). So that day can be a little more hectic leading into a Palo evening.

Also, remember that there is usually a fantastic brunch (amazing high-end buffet as well as some items that can be ordered a la carte) offered at Palo on Sea Days. I have done this on both the Magic and the Wonder, and loved it. I think I will be doing it again this cruise, even though I am cruising without DH (my daughter desperately wants to try Palo but she's only 15).

Also good to remember that if the Palo dinner reservations are all booked when your 'booking window' opens up (for first time cruisers I think it is at 75 days pre-cruise) don't despair--there are usually several reservations 'on hold' for booking once you board the ship.

Hope that helps, and wasn't way more info than you wanted! :rotfl:

Nope - that was great, thanks! We do have to wait until 75 days out to book anything. I was thinking we would just let the kids eat in the kids club - I know they serve food - but your other suggested options are great too, I'll talk with the other family.

Speaking of which, would it be OK if I invited them to join the Facebook group? They are not DISers, but both are on Facebook.

Personally we love every dinner night. We do palos for brunch instead. The semi formal night is an awesome menu too

I have searched the port activities over and over and do not see a mr sanchos beach nor a nachi cocom. My DH was hesitant to go as far as playa del carmen because it is so far from the ship so I think the xplor park is out for us. I think the other activity beach and lunch with the waterslides is where we will end up. I think it suits our whole family best. DD-9 DS-13 DH and I. Anyine been to this one?

Mr sanchos n nachi you get there at port via cab. Most of the beach clubs on the island are by cab ;)
