Fears about the Hollywood Studios announcement

To be honest DHS has become such a shell of a park any announcement will be a good one in my opinion. Recently I have got to DHS to ride ToT, RnRC, TSMM, Star Tours, and left to go about my day somewhere else. I think I spent more time at the AKL, a resort I wasn't staying at, then DHS on my last two trips.

I'd like to see the Muppets stay, the Stunt Spectacular leave, and have a good combination of original and re-imagined rides and I'd be happy. I am much less worried about them cheaping out on this update then I would have been if Universal wasn't pulling people to their parks in the post Harry Potter world. Even if you hate US and Harry Potter every time they post a good attendance number it should be looked at as a good thing for Disney guests.

I'm fine with cloning. I'm not getting to Disneyland anytime soon and if it creates an enjoyable ride experience why not Soar over Pandora. Universal does a lot of cloning Spiderman is to Transformers is to Harry Potter...

I want that Tron rollercoaster...It looks hot, let's clone that.
You win! You're getting your Soarin over Pandora in 2016 or 2017 or 2018 or 2019 or ... Well you get the idea.

No, they are going to clone Toy Story Midway Mania. ALl you will get is more "tracks" of the rides that already exist is a park. That got everyone all excited last year and it's EASY to do if you are Disney. SO pretty soon the park will just be Toy Story Midway Mania, Fantasmic and some meet and greets. Of course there will be places to eat and shop too

What more do you want for only $100 a day LOL!

I was literally at Disneyland/DCA two weeks ago. Say what you want. The ride systems and cars are the same. And again, I'd put money on management not wanting Cars Land at DHS. You need unique draws on both coasts.

And now one of them is gone and the other is a different, upgraded system.

But that's not the reason Wonders of Life closed. There are only a limited number of ride systems, so duplication is inevitable. In Magic Kingdom, Dumbo, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, and Astro Orbiter are all the same ride system, so are Small World and Pirates.

Does anyone know historically whats the spacing between an announcement and ground breaking on projects at Disney Parks? I feel like the closure of the back lot tour was so they could start clearing out the Props and Costume buildings. Would they start taking those down without a press release? I also wonder about the LMA training yard that is next to these buildings.

There is a lot of inconsistency between announcement dates and the start of construction, so there is no reliable pattern.

I predict that whatever they announce there will be:

1) a group of people complaining that there aren't enough E-ticket rides
2) a group of people complaining that it will take far too long before the new stuff is available
3) a group of people complaining about the lack of specifics
4) a group of people complaining about their favorite ride/attraction being removed
5) a group of people who are just happy that something is happening

Everyone take your places, we've been doing dress rehearsals on this for a while now so you should know your lines.

More seriously for Disney World I would anticipate only some very broad strokes Star Wars stuff (some of those pretty artists renditions); something a bit more definitive on Pixar Place; Specifics on Avatar (which we still haven't had remember).

Someone is always not happy that happens with every change on the planet. It's impossible to please everyone.

Disney and More has an interesting article posted today on what may be announced. Unfortunately for Star Wars fans, it doesn't seem likely that a new trailer for episode VII will premiere at the expo. The article does include a scene from episode VII which was included in a Korean trailer. Anyway, interesting reading.

This is just a rehash of what Micechat/Miceage posted the yesterday.

One of the problems is that places...cough...all over the Internet and social media are doing the dirty work stateside on PR...

Speculating on Tuesdays in September...real time blogs on the tiara convention...grasping at any whackadoodles "insider" info as if they stand a snowballs chance...

We're doing the masters bidding...

Why build when speculation gets people riled up enough to book more trips and swallow the costs?

They announced avatar before rip can winkle fell asleep...and I might be foggy but it looks like some people here are "excited for details" in August 2015?

I can't be reading that right...

So l go back to two of my standbys...

Perfectly said

Anybody else remember the 2011 presentation? I watched it live with a webchat on the side and the comments made the presentation worthwhile (since all we found out was about the boat ride in Shanghai). Before the presentation everyone was joking about "Monorail expansion to every park!" "Primeval Whirl in every park!" and really silly theories that made me laugh (in a good way) and then afterwards it was all "what" and disappointment, but in a funny way. Ahh good times

from the rumors going around, if there is a Pixar Playland it will concentrate on the small fry. I fear that will be all they add, is attractions for the kids.

Well they certainly need some attractions for the younger crowd, that is for sure. And I'm sure they are well aware they need more for the non-child crowd as well. And they also need a new restaurant (or 4). But anything that gets added will be a move in the positive direction. Tons of stuff I'd love to see in this park. The one thing I'm hoping never leaves though is the Osborne Festival of Lights. That is the only rumor of things to go that made shudder a little.

LOL.

Well ... there is the burning issue of, "how are they going to hold up those floating islands?"

If you think the teasing, delay, and suspense (such as it is) over Avatar's details and completion are a bit much ... wait 'til they get people on the baited hook for Star Wars expansion. Oh wait ... they already have.

But really, practically everyone will be happy. The generic WDW fans will be happy at the appearance of something, anything positive happening at DHS besides attraction closures and temporary, I mean "flexible" stages. They will be happy in other words with the addition of a handful of Pixar themed kiddie rides and a Bug's Life play area. The true Star Wars fans will be extremely happy with stuff like a new or expanded store with Star Wars toys and even more opportunities to high-five people in stormtrooper costumes.

I may be a minority ... along with a couple of others who hang around here. I only care about high-quality, headliner-type rides and large and thoroughly-themed lands to go with them. If there is a really prolonged period of teasing, rumors and vague promises about those things, the way that Avatar has rolled out (is rolling out) then I'm going to be disappointed.

LOL, you hit the proverbial nail on the head.

Count me in Group 3, but I can understudy for Group 2 if we come up short.

Perfect!

Let's see... I'll hold off on 1 and 2. I expect 3 and I'll get warmed up for 4. I've been told that being in group 4 is pointless but old habits are hard to break. ;)

I have no fears. I'm confident they're going to announce great things. Now, there are a few on here that will be negative about the D23 announcement no matter what. They'll say it's not unique enough, not big enough, no fast enough, etc etc. Those certain folks have shown time and again they have no grounding in reality, envision a Disney of the past that never existed, and expect a Disney of the future that could never rationally be.

Now to pick which one of these groups for my FP+
