I'd recommend going at rope drop. We entered the park when gates opened at 8:30 and headed right to Mexico where they corralled us until 9:00. The FEA line gave a wait time of 25 mins, but it was more like 15. And DH said he was happier in line than with a FP because he got to go into Oaken's store, a fun feature of the queue!
Yes it's accurate but it's actually worse, there is a cast member at the start that tells people to come back if there is no room for them in line.. it's how they are avoiding the 5 hour wait and people snaked all around world showcase waiting. I haven't seen too many peopel turned away lately though so the line might be finally evening out to a solid always 120 minutes.
It's not really a high capacity ride with scenes that the boats need to be a certain spacing between each other to correctly see so it's not a speed it up ride like most of the others can be.
I also recommend going when the park opens. We were done breakfast at Akershus just after 9am, and the posted wait time was 30 minutes - it was a walk on. I think they just put it at 30 minutes ahead of time in anticipation of it quickly getting to 30 minutes after rope drop.
Later in the day, it is either temporarily down or 60, 90, 120 minutes lol. I wouldn't even bother at that point unless I had a FP.
we went in Aug and did rope drop. We hustled over quickly and had about a 30 min wait. By the time we got off, it was over an hour wait and grew as the morning went on. It does not help that it breaks down frequently.
