Favorite walking shoes that are supportive?

Lots of foot problems here. High arches, plantar fasciitis, and I broke my foot about 10 years ago which makes everything worse. My podiatrist made me go to the Walking Store and get Abeos. They were expensive but amazing. Also I have custom orthotics, but before that, and what she says is the only kind she likes other than custom, are SuperFeet insoles.

I just looked into these... I was amazed to see they make shoes with the metatarsal support I need. Just ordered a couple pairs to try. Thanks for the recommendation!

All time favorite walking shoes in Disneyland are my Asics brand gel-kayanos.

I second this. They are the most comfortable supportive shoes I own. I would also say that if you are doing multiple days it helps to change the shoes you wear every other day, as different shoes create pressure points on different parts of your foot and changing them up makes sure you don't get the same points rubbed every day.

I am totally doing this. I had my most comfy shoes with my custom orthotic insoles last year, and I got terrible blisters on the balls of my feet, just below my toes. Weird, as I've never had them there before, and painful! Definitely bringing 2 pairs of good shoes.

I used to get really bad blisters when walking around all day. I went to a specialized store and got some new shoes and they recommended mositure wicking socks. AMAZING! I spent almost a whole week walking around last time I was there and not a blister to be found.

Comfy shoes are such a personal thing. What's awesome for one may not work for another. If you have fussy feet, best to try on lots of different brands and then give yourself plenty of time to break them in. Nothing worse than blisters or aching feet at Disney!

I second the above. I've had people recommend certain shoes and I've tried them on and thought "are you insane?!" Haha! I'd go someplace and try a bunch of types on. That's really the only way to know. I can tell you one thing, you will likely need to spend some money. It's hard to find super comfortable shoes for little money. And once you've found REALLY comfortable shoes, you can really never go back to the cheap ones. Trust me on that. :)

I went to an orthopedic shoes store to try some things on. Then I found the same ones on amazon.com for quite a bit cheaper so that was good. I ended up with New Balance. Previously I had Asics that I loved. But now when I put those on, they seem so uncomfortable to me.

I have rheumatoid arthritis. Finding comfy shoes has always been a problem for me. Once I find a pair that has enough room in the forefoot, laces up tightly enough around the ankle, and is comfortable to walk in, I add these insoles: http://www.walgreens.com/store/c/pr...molding-insoles-women's/ID=prod400001-product

They have been my life saver!

Thanks for the link! I was diagnosed with RA last year.

Thank you so much everyone for your replies! Shoe Carnival near me was having a great sale plus I had a coupon on top of that so I ran over there today and tried on at least 15 pairs of shoes in different styles and brands. I ended up getting a pair of New Balance that has memory foam in it and also Skechers Air with memory foam. I was there over an hour walking around in different shoes so hopefully these do the trick!

Out of curiosity, which New Balance did you get? Mine have memory foam and I love them.

While the GoWalks are like walking on air or pillows, they have almost no arch support. I have super high arches - I got a pair and found them initially comfortable, but when I wear them for any length of time them make my feet, ankles, legs and hip ache because of the lack of support.

It seems they work best for flatter feet, so if you have high arches you may find them lacking.

I 2nd this. I have Sketchers with a similar insole/bottom and they are great in short bursts. But not great for a lot of walking.

I got my Abeo sneakers in the mail today and tried them... I think they are going to be really great. Thank you @avalon451 for the recommendation, this may be revolutionary for my feet!

Guilty, my arches are barely there.

All time favorite walking shoes in Disneyland are my Asics brand gel-kayanos. Both my mom and I have a pair and we swear by them. Literally our feet are fine by the end of the trip ... Something that my other shoes don't offer. Feet are super important to us .. We are both dancers and are on out feet all day. The style of Asics that we get is a little pricey but well worth it. The support in the arch and heel region that this shoe provides along with the extremely comfy gel cushioning makes it my go to ALL THE TIME!! Check them out!

I have to thank you so much for this suggestion! I recently starting walking a lot. 30 min on my lunch break and hiking on the weekends. My feet having been feeling like I have one big bruise on the bottom of my foot. I've tried all my different shoes with no luck so I stopped by the store to try on the ones you mentioned. They are wonderful! I got last year's style so they were $50 off. These are now my new walking shoes and worth every penny! I will definitely be wearing these to Disneyland! I'm thinking of getting a second pair.

I use Skecher Go Walks. When I had plantar fasciitis I used Skechers Shape-ups -- no pain at all. Good luck on getting a good shoe!
