Hello

My wife and I are going to stay at the Grand Floridian this month. We are so excited we may bust. We go every year and were sad to hear that our favotite resort, the Beach Club, was booked. So we are staying at the Grand Floridian.

I know the GF is nice and very convienent. For those of you who've stayed there, what are some of your favorite things about WDW flagship resort?

I'm not saying we are disappointed, staying at the GF, it's just that we love the YC. Make us feel better with you answers. Tips on staying at the GF would help too.

Thanks

Uncle Albert

P.S. I love to laugh! Ha-ha-ha-ha!

1. You can't beat the romantic feeling of this resort. It is truly beautiful. The grounds are lovely for strolling and you can go to the dock at night and watch the Electric Water Pageant and the fireworks.

2. If you get a lagoon view room, the view of the castle is breathtaking. I loved my lagoon view room in Sago Cay. It was a dormer room with cathedral ceilings and a lovely view of Cinderella castle and prime seats for the fireworks.

3. We could hear the train and the Haunted Mansion sounds from our room.

4. GREAT restaurants!!!!!!! Narcoosee's, Citricos, Victoria and Albert's...

5. You can walk to the Polynesian and dine at O'hana or Kona Cafe. The walk is relaxing and romantic. Plus my DH and I love O'hana!!!!! And the desserts at Kona can't be beat!

6. The BROWNIES at Gasparilla's at the GF (the 24 dining spot). OMG - these are to die for!!!!!!

7. Location! You are right on the monorail line and only about 5 minutes away from the MK.

8. The pianist and orchestra that play in the lobby are a wonderful treat before going our for the evening.

You will love the GF! Have a great time!

The Dormer room was great. The vaulted ceiling made up for the room that is a bit smaller.

As you mentioned, the convenience of the monorail is wonderful. Also, I love the fact that you get bathrobes and a mini-bar in your room (and the mini-bar has tons of great stuff in it besides alcohol--candy, snacks, cereal, juice, Coke, etc.--though it's expensive). Plus, it's so great to have the CM's tell you to have a "grand day." You'll enjoy the GF--have a GREAT trip!!!

Don't forget to check out the GF FAQ thread here on the Dis for lots of valuable information regarding that resort: GF FAQ. The GF is my husband's favorite resort. I hope you have a lovely stay. It is a beautiful resort.

It is just very magical. I have had two stays there with a Castle view room in Sago Cay. You hear the sounds of the MK, it really is staying in the middle of the magic. The monorail or the boat to MK.....eveything is just so pretty and it makes me feel really happy. We watched fireworks and the electric parade from our balcony. Even my non Disney nut husband was charmed by that.

Thank you for the tips and info on the GF. We just bought a new house and our budget is going to pot, so we may have to cancel our trip. I feel like crying. I think I will. We were planning on going on the 25th of May

Maybe some pixie dust will come our way.
