Favorite Thing to do at a Resort?

We love the Lagoon views at the Polynesian.

This last December we were returning to celebrate getting through a difficult year. We love the view of the fireworks from the resort so we made it a ritual to watch the fireworks from our room on the balcony. One night I ordered chocolate covered strawberries to surprise my wife. Between them and cordials from the lounge we had a great, relaxing evening.

I love the Polynesian for this alone, but there are many more things to enjoy about it. Still, this will always be a tradition for us when we can get away during that time of the year.

Wow theres a lot of good things listed on here! My husband wanted me to add the impromptu football games at the All Star Sports. I can't believe I forgot to mention that but those were wonderful!

Also, resort hopping. On our last trip, since my husband had only been to Disney twice and only seen the All Star hotels, we spent a few hours hopping around to different resorts so he could see them and he positively loved taking all of that in. :)

I can't relate to this "getting up early" thing, but standing at the very front of Disney Cruise Liner and watching the sun set in to the ocean is something us east-coasters never see. Blue water everywhere you can see, and the sun disappearing slowly. That's about as close as you can describe it. Everybody should see that, even if it is just once in a lifetime.

We didn't get the chance to do that, there were too many things to do on the ship!

I like walking around resorts late at night when they are practically empty- like when we get back from PI late and the whole resort is deserted.

At CBR at night there are always tons of bunnies, lizards and ducks running around, you practically trip over them :flower:

At Polynesian, it was fun going to Capt. Cooks at like 2am to refill our mugs and get a snack. There was always the same CM working there, he was really nice. Or walking through the GHC at 2am and its empty except for CM's vacuuming. Makes you appreciate the CM's that work all night making the resort look nice for the next day.

If it a MK resort, hang out on the beach... especially the hammocks at the Poly. Swim in the pools, hang out at the pool bar, shop, eat, and people watch.

CSR - taking an early morning walk around the lake and gaping at the gorgeous grounds.

Boardwalk resorts - grabbing a bench and people watching along the Boardwalk.

AKL - sitting on the balcony or any of the public viewing spots and watching the animals.

WL and VWL - There is so much to do!!! People watching in the lobby while sipping hot chocolate and pretending you are in the mountains, zipping around the lake in the Sea Raycers, bike riding to Ft Wilderness on the nature trail, lounging by the beach.

At the Poly - Nobody mentioned watching the tiki torch lighters. Also, just walking around the resort taking in the beautiful grounds. Sitting on the beach watching the lights change colors on the castle. One of my favorite resort memories is of getting up before DH, walking to the GCH for coffe and being the only person on the paths.

CSR- walking around the lake in the evening - just beautiful.

POR & POFQ - enjoying the grounds

What a COOL thread DAWGPOUNDAJ!! If you're going to the Poly at the end of may, I will be with you. So far, I love everything everyone's said about the Poly and to add - the aroma of the GCH. When you first arrive and are waiting to check, the smell tells me I'm home! You can't beat a MaiTai.
