Favorite Singer before your time

Oh that's so hard! I like so many different genres, and a lot of singers from the past. I think I was born a decade or two too late. Off the top of my head Patsy Cline and Janis Joplin.

Another for Dean Martin. Love, love, love to hear his voice. And I am right there with the pp about Rio Bravo! One of the few John Wayne movies I will let dh watch over and over!

When I was little, I remember watching the Dean Martin Show (I guess that was the name). Always liked that show.

And of course Elvis. I would have to turn in my "Southern girl" tag if I didn't say Elvis!! But I could listen to him all day long too.

Elvis was my first love and my first cassette tape. (I was born a few years after he died.) I know there are others as I love lots of 50s and 60s music, but he is the one who comes to mind first.

Dean Martin, I was a kid when he had some of his hits, but wasn't my style, now I love to here him sing

One of my favorite Pandora stations is the Dean Martin station. He's not really before my time (I remember him from his celebrity roasts in the 70s), but he did most of his great stuff before my time. So, so smooth.

Equally smooth and before my time: Nat "King" Cole. Just a gifted musician in every sense of the word, and groundbreaking in many ways. Outstanding documentary on him on Netflix: "Nat King Cole: Afraid of the Dark."

so who knew there were so many other Dino fans - :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc him. Before my time, but I was born an old soul. Really like Sinatra and other rat packers, but none had the coolness of Dean. He made everything he did look effortless. Only wish there were still clubs and venues that played the music.

My dad played in a jazz band all through high school and college (they came out of retirement to play at my wedding, lol!), so he raised me to love and appreciate "his" music! I have a lot of faves - hard to choose! Frank, Dean, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Jordan, Nina Simone, Harry Belafonte, and Joe Williams. A few of them I was able to see in concert...

My father's favorite was always Sinatra, but my favorite was probably Joe Williams, or maybe Harry Belafonte or Mel Torme. I can't pick!

ohhh, great question! Gotta go way before my time with a tie between Louis Armstrong or Ella Fitzgerald (or them together as they often were). Nothing like coming home from a long day at work, pouring a libation, and just relaxing to their music. I swear I was born in the wrong decade :music:

Patsy Cline without a doubt. Buddy Holly, Fats Domino, Chubby Checker, Chuck Berry's early stuff was before my time. I love most all of the 50's an very early 60's music.
I was 6 yrs old 1st time the Beatles was on the Ed Sullivan Show I remember thinkin What's the big deal? I never was a Beatles fan.

Pretty much before my "time," since he was popular in the 70s and I was just a kid.... John Denver. Love John. I fell in love with his music in the late 80s, when he was SO not cool and I was in high school. But I didn't care. I played JD alongside Duran Duran :)
