Looking for a fun, casual place for lunch at AK in June. Does not have to be sit down, but looking for cool!

I'm going to have to second Tusker House. The food is great, and it's a very casual atmosphere with tons of large tables. Reasonable prices, too.

COOL was the big request and I think there is not a place in AK that is cool. :rotfl2: We find this park to be the hottest of all the parks little shade.. and not so much on the AC. One thing I noticed last trip- if Disney is doing well $$$ they will crank the AC..if times are tight- it is not that cool in the restaurants-the shops are still pretty cool but the restaurants not so much. Tusker house is probably the coolest one imho and the food is good. (there is also Rainforest still right?) the only hassle with that is that it is all the way at the entrance to the park. So lots of blabbing from me but not much advice I am afraid. sorry. We usually leave around 2 and plan a late lunch that day at one of the resorts. (by 2 in the summer we are burnt!-more like melting I guess since we do wear sunscreen)

I have eaten breakfast at Tusker House and it was good. I also have eaten at Flame Tree BBQ and that is good for lunch. I like the cuban sandwich at Pizzafari. So I guess the only place at AK I haven't eaten is Resturantasaurs and Rainforest Cafe.

We have found the food to be really good at Tusker House, Flame Tree BBQ, and Pizzafari (pizzas only). However, if you're looking for "fun," I'd vote for eating outside at TH. Every time we've visited, there have been perfermors (musicians, dancers, etc.) in front of TH. During a Christmas visit, I ate my breakfast while watching some singers/dancers. Near the end of their performance, they involved a bunch of kids from the audience. If you grab a seat a little before the parade, you can watch the parade from underneat the covered seating area.

If you want something a little more quiet, the outside dining areas behind FT are beautiful! We love watching the large birds (herons and such) wander around the large, ornamental ponds.

Another vote for Tusker House - You can eat inside and the food is wonderful for CS. I love the salmon and DH loves the turkey wrap and corn chowder!!!

The food was wonderful at Flame Tree this past Tuesday, didn't try anywhere else but I would definitly recommend their pork sandwiches. . . and if you follow the paths to the outside eating areas clear down where it ends, we found a nice shady spot with a perfect veiw of Expedition Everest.

I've eaten at Tusker House and Restaurauntosaurus for lunch at AK, I love Tusker house. The food was great! Atmosphere was very nice too.

Restaurauntosaurus was good for a burger, if that happens to be what you are craving. But I vote Tusker House!

We will be taking our 3.5 yr olds, and they don't need the music or the noise. We'd like them to SEE fireworks. Thanks!

Sorry! Wrong area. Never Mind!

My vote goes to Flame Tree. We try to eat here every trip. Too bad my son discovered Restaurantosaurus. Once he find Mcdonalds chicken nuggents and french fries, I was stuck!

I definitely vote for flame tree. We go there every time and love it. There have often been random groups performing on the river during summer that you can watch whilst eating in the shaded areas. Has to be followed by an ultra cooling frozen lemonade- we loved those things!!!! :thumbsup2

For cool (weather-wise), you can't beat Pizzafari. I've eaten at all 3-Tusker House, Flame Tree BBQ, and Pizzafari in hot weather, and Pizzafari is definitely the coolest. And if being there doesn't cool you down enough, order a frozen lemonade. I did that one August, and actually felt chilly!

I vote in for Tusker's House. Good seating, good food, not too busy, ice cream nearby. I'm still holding a grudge against Flame Tree BBQ though b/c one of their blankity blank birds pooped on me (yeah that soooo doesnt go with Disney magic...though I guess I could have jumped on River Rapids and gone through the rinse cycle :worried: ). And for supper Rainforest is delicious and the volcano dessert is a must! I've never been to Restaurantasaurus or Pizzafari so no comment on those.

this is soo cute btw: :mickeybar
