Just wondering what your favorite non park activity is? I try to plan something special outside of the parks, we've done the boat rental, the speciality cruises, Disney Quest, Cirque Du Soleil, speciality dining, tours, Jellyrolls, etc. and I'm looking for ideas for something DH and I can do this upcoming trip. Any ideas are welcome and TIA

We enjoy riding the boat over to FW for dinner at Trails End. We don't do it every trip but it is something off the beaten path.....we sometimes take the other boat from there that goes to WL....to walk around there and then boat over to MK area from there. We love hanging out at DTD too.... or renting a surrey bike.

My favorite non-park activity is riding the waves at Vero Beach....:)

Sorry... I know some are getting tired of reading about my love of VB, but what else can I do....

Lisa, starbox, BWVdreamin.... I can only tell the truth... right?

We like heading over to DTD to watch a movie or wander away from the parks entirely to go shopping at the outlets and have a nice relaxed dinner. We always feel like we take more time for meals if it is away from Disney. Meals at the parks or hotels seem really rushed to us.

We really enjoyed the horse-drawn carriage ride through Port Orleans.

How about the Segway Tour at Ft. Wilderness? We have done the Epcot Segway tour and have the FW one scheduled for May. We really loved riding the Segway around Epcot and have read many good reviews about the FW one here on the disboards.

Cirque de Soleil at DD is also good as is Hoop De Doo. Hoop De Doo is a dinner and show.

Since you are staying at BWV for part of your trip, try a nighttime stroll around Crescent Lake. The lights of the resorts reflected in the water are gorgeous. Or watch a movie on the beach at BCV.

Enjoy!

What about some of the behind the scene tours?

I would recommend the Backstage Magic tour if you have never done it. It is a long 6 hour tour, very little time in the parks, almost all backstage stuff, it gives you a completely new perspective on how WDW works!

Thanks for your replies and ideas. I like the Segway at FW idea, and the Backstage Tour. I will look into them. I've done the horse drawn carriage and really enjoyed it! Thanks again,

Do your kids have to be a certain age to do this? Would you recommend this to teens??

Now, not in the heat of summer, but I love riding bikes between WL and FW and around FW. People are very friendly and some of the RV's are amazing. During the holidays people really get into decorating. No matter where we're staying, its something I try to always do.

We did the Backstage Tour at AK. My DH loved it, as did I. You tour the barns, food prep area, bird facility and have a private behind the scenes safari ride without the whole "acting" thing (poachers, etc).

Fortunately, we rode in vans on our way from stop to stop since it was the middle of the summer and enjoyed the AC!! You also stop for a snack, water,
and RR break.

Fun time!

We love touring all the resorts. We did it with a rental car and without. It was
a fun challenge to work with the WDW transportation to do this. We got really
creative and it was a blast. We just devoted an entire day to it. :thumbsup2

And did I mention we also enjoyed a cocktail at the different lounges/pool bars?
We spaced it out and ate periodically so there was no :hyper: :faint:

One of our favorite days is when we don't go ANYWHERE...except dinner.

We wake up when we want......check out the activities being offered
at our resort and do them. Go swimming... just chill out.

We will go to a nice dinner or a show that night....fully charged for the
next day:goodvibes

Oh yes, the truth! VB is the ultimate non-park thing to do!:thumbsup2

One of our favorite things to do while at Disney is to head to Port Orleans Riverside in the evening and go see Bob......he is the entertainment they have in the bar/lounge there. He is such a fun entertainer! Very hard to explain what he's like because anything you can say about him doesn't do him justice! He puts on a great show that is fun for adults and also for children. I believe he is only there Wednesdays thru Saturdays so you may want to call Port Orleans Riverside before you head over there just to be sure he's there that night.

Favorite non park things to do:

Hang out by the pool
Have drinks at night in the lounge at your resort
Cook dinner in, and watch your favorite Disney Movie
Walk around DTD at night
Go to the comedy club at DTD (one of our favorites)
Have dinner at Fultons's Crab house at DTD
Get a nice bottle of wine or favorite beverage and sit on your balconly at night and just RELAX
Go visit other DVC resorts
Play a game of air hockey at the arcade, with or without the kids
Get a massage (I try to do this every trip)
play mini golf

:flower3: Hope these suggestions help. Enjoy!
