What has been your favorite FE gift that you have received? Trying to decide what I want to give for our upcoming cruise on the Dream. If you have photos, please post also :).

While we received a lot of really nice gifts that we liked A LOT the one that was most useful was a small magnetic dry erase board. We used it on our door on the ship & now we have it on our garage door (the one coming into the house from the garage) and we leave messages on it & do vaca countdowns!:goodvibes

Great thread idea! I'm going to keep an eye on this to get ideas for our upcoming cruise, since it will be the first time we're participating in FEs.

Oh, and War Eagle! :cheer2:

We got lots of great gifts... I loved the CD with Disney music and the Horn sound. But our favorite was our ears for our door. I am posting a picture of them... it is the one around the number. We still have them and take them for our door on each cruise.

My favorite gift to receive is always snacks -- they come in handy when you're rushing around and you don't have to pack them up to take them home (unless you haven't finished them!). We've had chocolate, mints, popcorn, lollipops, all good.

Second favorite gift is items from folks' hometowns. Love to see local treasures/specialities. Have some adorable native animal keychains from Australia from our last cruise; they are great.

Gifts I HATE to get: cheap plastic stuff from Oriental Trading and the like. Just threw away a bag full of it. I concede that kids love to receive this stuff but it just makes me cringe.

Best gift I ever gave: a thermal lunch bag with handles, embroidered with the DCL logo and the date/name of the cruise. We got lots of compliments and are still using our own bag (of course I had to have one!). And very handy for packing water and wave phones when going onto Castaway Cay. It was a bit pricier than normal but since I was running the meet and the FE, I felt like doing something a little extra special.

I love CDs of music - it's fun to hear what says "cruise" to other people! Also, pens - especially ones that have been printed with info about the cruise. I use those (and Disney resort pens) almost exclusively at work, because it's always a quick reminder of my happy place. :lovestruc

What are the ears made of?

We loved everything and the snacks did come in handy. that said our 3 faves were: a picture frame with picture of boat with cruise dates; the cruise music CD (we are listening 8 months later) and the personalized tote bag (we did not use it on cruise but I use it all the time now and it makes me smile).

we also received binder clips, pens, some pirate jewelry etc - everything came in handy. finding packages in the FE was just so much fun. Kids ran ahead everytime to check.

We have received some really great things over the years - playing cards (full size), candy is always a hit but I agree with the PP - LOVE the imprinted pens as it always takes me back, notepads, magnets, zipper pulls (for lack of a better word but they decorate my Kindle cover), CD's and key chains.

For those items that one doesn't need/want, they are great items to donate to shelters and the like.

Has anyone ever had a problem with people stealing things out of their fish extender?

Nope, and we used a cable tie to attach the FE itself to the fish. Some smart people on our cruise put little notes above the fish that said "Remember, there are cameras in ALL the hallways!!!" :p

Best FE gift on this cruise? Geez, this is hard...my favourites were the Canadian Smarties, cruise CDs, and pirate tattoos. I rarely use temporary tats at home, but it was fun to have them on me for Pirate night!!!

By the way, if you know a cabin has kids, why not get a bandana, eyepatch, tattoos, and maybe a ring or necklace and put together Pirate packs for that night? One of our FE friends did this and they worked out very well. I wore my necklace the other day...:rotfl:

What are the ears made of?

The ears are made out of some type of magnetic paper. I am actually going to PM the Dis'er that made them and ask or go to Michaels and take my ear with me and find out. I'll come back and let you know.

I know everyone uses the fish on the side of the doors for fish extenders but what are the fish's actual purpose?

Hmmmm Favorite!!!???

CD's
Magnets
Cruise Personalized items
BOOZE!!!!! (Got alot of these and LOVED IT!!)
This WAY nice necklace with Castaway Cay picture on it. (I bought an outfit just to go with it!!)

We received so much nice stuff and had so much fun doing it!!!

In general, my favorite things have been stuff I don't have to bring home!

Favorites:
Pens with the Cruise date on them. I think of our cruise every time I use it.
CANDY! Great for taking to the shows and having around the room.
Door Magnets with the cruise dates
Pirate tattoos for pirate night

Least favorite:
CDs - I don't even think I have a CD player anymore. Everyone I know uses an iPod/digital player
Picture frames - love the idea, but very difficult to pack without breaking and bulky
knick knacks from oriental trading - I usually just make a bag to give to my son's school if I am driving home from the port

We have gotten some very creative things over the years!

The best gift I ever received was a thermal lunch bag with handles, embroidered with the DCL logo and the date/name of the cruise. I use it ever day to take my lunch to work!!!
