My wife and I have decided to use some dinner ADR's as a good way to see some of the DVC spots we have not yet seen. We will be down for 9 days, split stay at AKV/BCV. We have a reservation at Sanaa, and figure we'll probably end up at Boma 1 of the 4 nights. At BCV we made a reservation for Cape May, and we have several other reservations, such as Ohana, Biergarten, and San Angel in Mexico, but were thinking we'd use some of the other nights to check out some places where we might stay in the future.

I just booked Artists Point, so that's the only spot outside of where we are staying where we made an ADR. Any feedback on Artists Point?

Is it worth a trip to OKW, or SSR for dinner? I know a lot of folks staying at SSR and OKW talk about going to DTD for dinner.... There's nothing at BLT, right (we've already eaten several time at Contemporary). We also have a reservation at Kat Cora's, anything else at BWV?

Any other recommendations? We have 6 ADR's and want 8...so we're looking for 2 more. Should we go over to the Grand Floridian and pretend we're there for dinner but instead try to listen in to some high level meetings about the new DVC building? :listen:

I have eaten at a few of the DVC properties. Artist Point is good, borderline great. Their service is a little slow. My favorite is Jiko - by far. some of the best food and great ambiance. Boma was good, not great - but its been years so i may feel differently now. I tried the seafood buffet at Cape May and wasnt that impressed (although others will swear by it). I really enjoy Kouzinna at the BW also. And if you count California Grill at the Contemporary - it is nice for a special occasion, but honestly i liked the food at Jiko better.

You have San Angel in Mexico but you might want to switch to La Hacienda, the new Mexico restaurant right on the water front if you have not tried that one yet. We like it better than San Angel.

Boardwalk has Flying Fish, a very good upscale restaurant. If you want mainly burgers, steak sandwiches, and the like there is ESPN and the Big River Grill at BW but neither takes reservations. While staying in the Epcot resort area, you might also want to try Yachtsmen's Steakhouse at YC, and Palios (Italian) at Swan is really good.

At AKV, there is also Jiko which I thought was tops until Sanaa came along.

Artists Point is very good but Whispering Canyon at VWL is a lot more fun as the service staff is a show.

Since the possible DVC at Grand Floridian was leaked, consider Narcoossee's for seafood.

We like Whispering Canyon. We're a good home cookin' group and love the skillet of ribs, pork, chicken and fixings. Just wish they still had the skillet cobbler desserts.

Otherwise, we like most of the Bardwalk variety.

We've been to Olivia's and Boma- both were excellent. Can't wait to try The Turf Club at SSR.

No one has mentioned The Wave at the Contemporary. They have a great chicken sandwich on multi-grain bread for lunch. Mmmmm.

Any feedback on Artists Point?

i've enjoyed my trips to AP. it's a good choice.

i'm a big fan of jiko and boma at jambo house. different atmospheres but both are great depending on whether you want romantic/elegant vs variety of food.

OKW - olivia's is ok. probably better for a casual breakfast. turf club at SSR might be a better choice for dinner.

definitely linger around the boardwalk to enjoy the magicians/sword-eater/juggler acts, regardless of where you eat. (kimono's at the swan for sushi is actually my favorite place to eat in that area.)

i'd vote for narcoossee's at GF whether you sneak into a VGF meeting or not...:)

Wow, thanks for the great responses. I never heard about La Hacienda, I might have to look it up and switch! My wife's favorite dish in all WDW is the crab appetizer at San Angel, so it's going to be a tough sell...but maybe we can do both.

DizMagic, I agree that the Cape May buffet is a bit overrated. We like to do it when we are going to MK during the day, come back to BCV to swim and then go to the buffet for a quick, early dinner before heading back to MK for parade/fireworks. We can get in and out in 45-50 minutes which is the key. It's good, not great.

Sounds like many like Whispering Canyon as much if not more than Artists Point? I wonder if that's not a better choice with kids?

I made the Sanaa reservation instead of Jiko, we have a group of 10 and I figured it might be easier b/c we are staying at Kidani. However, we are in a GV and bringing family so they have offered to babysit and I'm thinking of taking my wife over to Jiko one night while my sisters watch our girls. From all I hear, both are worth the effort.

Chalee, we LOVE sushi and I did not even know there was a place at the Swan. Do they take reservations? Might have to do that.....

Olivia's....forgot about that! My brother stayed there last year and really enjoyed eating there. In keeping with our original intentions, we might have to venture over there b/c we really want to see OKW in anticipation of staying there at some point.

Thepops, is Turf Club a steak place?

The bottom line is, 9 days is not going to be enough time to get to all these great places!

If you want an upscale steakhouse, the best onsite IMHO try Shula's at the Dolphin.
Yachtsman is good, Shula's is great.

Here's another vote for Turf Club at SSR. It's a hidden gem. We much prefer their dinner menu to the lunch menu. There is steak and prime rib on the menu, but I wouldn't call it a steak house. There's a good selection of both seafood and meat. I usually get the prime rib.

I'll also give a vote for iron chef Cat Cora's Kouzzina at the Boardwalk. When we ate there last year, it immediately jumped onto our annual must-do list. The menu is a fusion of Greek and Southern cooking.

Another I didn't see listed is the Wave at the Contemporary. Again, dinner menu over lunch. Love the braised lamb shank here.

I like Olivias at OKW. It has a Caribbean menu, which is good.

We love Olivia's as well ! Nothing fancy or expensive like AP or Jiko....def more casual, but good food. Had the BEST shrimp and grits for dinner on May 1, along with coconut crusted Mahi Mahi. But very casual compared to a place like Jiko. But we like this about Olivia's.

The Turf Club is indeed a hidden gem.SHHHHH! The prime rib is outstanding.:worship: I wish I was there right now.

I agree. DO not miss this restaurant.
Jiko used to be at the bottom of our list but has leapfrogged to #1 within 2 years.
There is nothing like the cooking, the wine and the wicked awesome staff that remembers us when we go back each time.
It definitely deserved the 5 diamond award it received.

Jiko-Jambo House

Put it on your short list.

I found theTurf Club OK, but nothing worth planning on going to. Kouzzina realy disappointed me. Did not like the spice pallette or the portion sizes.

Yachtman's Steakhouse at the Yacht Club is amazing. One of the best steak dinners ever (and coming from Chicago, that is not an idle boast).

Jiko is very good too, although my parents found the seasoning a bit too exotic for them.
