favorite DVC restaurant?

Ok, so I have to try Jiko---I made a reservation for our 2nd night. 10 of us are eating at Sanaa on night 1, on night 2 me and the wife will be eating at Jiko.

We then go to Ohana night 3. Night 4 is Artists Point, but may switch to Whispering Canyon. Night 5 at Cape May, Night 6 at San Angel, Night 7 at Biergarten, night 8 to be determined..

The last choice is down to Shula's, Turf Club, Yachtsman, Kimonos or Teppan Edo (not all that impressed last time but the kids love it).

Next I have to start planning the lunches!

I just booked Artists Point, so that's the only spot outside of where we are staying where we made an ADR. Any feedback on Artists Point?

Artist Point is my favorite "special occasion" resturant. ANYWHERE! We've celebrated several anniversaries there and Thanksgiving there when we took DMIL to the World. We've always been so happy with the service, food, and atmosphere there.

We have enjoyed the Turf Club on our last 2 visits. We also always go back to the Garden Grill at the Land in Epcot.

Sounds like many like Whispering Canyon as much if not more than Artists Point? I wonder if that's not a better choice with kids?

Chalee, we LOVE sushi and I did not even know there was a place at the Swan. Do they take reservations? Might have to do that...

i would agree that WC is more for kids/family and AP is more adult. the food is better at AP but WC is fun.

i've never actually had to make reservations at kimonos. but if you're going during a busy time it might be a good idea...

Turf Club and Yachtsman are both great, but Shula's is our favorite. We go there every year on our anniversary.

LOVE Artist Point at WL, and also Jiko at AKV. The one I would recommend that has not yet been mentioned is Turf Club at SSR. That is one place that is a must do for us each trip.

I really enjoy Cali Grill, and I've always enjoyed the view of the fireworks from the observation area!

We just went to artist point 2 weeks ago. The last time we were here was about 5 years ago. We loved it back then.
Fast forward to 2011. We think we are never going to go back.
A little background:
Since that 5 years we have made it a thing to eat at each Signature dining restaurant, So we've done Jiko, Yachtmans, cali grill, Narcossees, etc.
All of which we love.
We decided to return to Artist Point because of its signature dining we experienced back then. Basically we feel that Artist Point is very overpriced compared to the other signature ones weve been. We do not do the dining plan ever so paying cash assisted in this decision.
The app portions are very small. The atmosphere is a very nice atmosphere. Decent wine, nothing to write home about. Entree portions are pretty small as well and the desert was decent.
but for a dinner of 2 before the tables in wonderland discount, 200.00 was a bit steep for the experience we were given.

2 nights later we ate at Flying fish, for the second time ever, and were more blown away by the variety, hospitality and prob the most amazing fish dishes I have ever eaten anywhere. Hand Diver Scallops are still ringing in my head..friggin amazing....
This dinner was a mere 120.00 compared to a blah experience at Artist Point.
ArtistPoint simply is not worth the money to us and we will never be back.

Being Signature dining snobs Cali was once our ultimate favorite, not because of the fireworks but the dining experience.

These days We have strongly noticed a significant decline in the quality of the food here and I am not about to spend 150.00 just to see wishes
from the top of the resort ( besides I can get the fireworks from top of the world lounge now for free).

I really wish they would bring back the quality they once had here.

We absolutely LOVE the Turf Club over at SSR. Always a great meal, and great service :thumbsup2

Turf Club is definitely worth a trip to SSR. If you can sit outside, the view is fantastic. I love their steak sandwich. :thumbsup2

I was there in April, and had the Artic Char, it was so good! DSis had flatbread and something else, but we both were pleased beyond expections.

So I think we will cancel Artists Point; I am sure it's worth a visit, but it sounds less practical for us with kids, and we will have some other "fine dining" experiences along the way. In keeping with our original theme, which is to use ADR's as a means of seeing some of the DVC resorts we have not yet visited, we will most likely switch that night to Whispering Canyon and visit SSR (Turf Club) or OKW (Olivia's) for our last open night.

I really want to see WVL and make a trip over to the OKW/SSR area.

Fulton's at DTD and Flying Fish on the Boardwalk ... both are fabulous. As someone else said, coming from Chicago we have plenty of great steak places, so when in Florida we personally prefer finding great seafood restaurants, and these are the best two that we've found in Disney.

erm so far the only disney restaurant that was not a total disappointment was Olivias at OKW.

It was lovely. THe worst by a country mile was the nightmare that was Kona Cafe. dear oh dear. Never again!

Dont bother with table service restaurants in disney know. Get a far better meal at logan roadhouse, or Dennys than anything inside disney. Much better food and service, which should be a total embarrassment to Disney dining, but does not appear to be sadly.

While I agree that one could argue that certain table service restaurants can be a little overrated, many are still very, very good--but to say that you get much better food and service at a Denny's is laughable.

Really?! Denny's? And Olivia's was the only non-disappointment? Not sure how many you've tried, but there are many good restaurants within Disney. As a matter of fact, Olivia's WAS somewhat of a disappointment to us on more than one occasion. Give some others a try ... I'm sure you'll find many you like.
