I'm currently in the process of buying a resale. What are other discounts that make a DVC worth the investment?

Wendy - discounts can come and go, so don't let them influence your decision. The discount on Annual Passports is a good one though. And i don't recall the exact amount but i think it 's in the region of $100.

Our two favorites are 1) AP discount, and 2) the 20% at some of the non-DDE restaurants, such as those in the S/D and WPE and Fulton's in DTD. :thumbsup2

Excellent advice. :thumbsup2 And you are correct on the discount amount on AP's. Of the current discounts, that is the most significant because it provides AP room rate discounts as well as access to DDE. :)

Our favorite discount is the one for AP's. Which, of course, then leads to the DDE card which gets us a 20% discount on table service meals all over WDW property.

There are times when a new ride becomes open, that DVC members are allowed first to ride it, the blue member card has to be shown. That is probably a perk, but we were at Epcot when Nemo opened, My DGC were so excited, no line, we did it twice. AP holders may have been allowed on this too, I was both, but I was able to bring my family with our Blue cards. The AP also allows for many money saving events at Disney.
I have the Disney Visa, Ap, Blue card... I will take all 3 out and ask for them to get me the best discount. Sometimes it varies.

My favorite discount isn't a discount at all. It's being able to take a really nice Disney vacation with my family for the next 35 years. Nothing else matters in my book. JMO

Definitely the AP discount. I don't pay much attention to any of the others.

For us it is the AP discount and the available Golf membership. We used our golf membership for two trips, one in Dec '07 and one this month and we got 32 rounds on it. That saved us $2,700 in green fees. (No DW and I did not play 16 rounds each, we shared with friends to get the 32 rounds)

The AP discount is very nice, but I'm going with valet parking.
We valet the car 2-3 times per day on average. I still spend a sizeable wad on tips, so maybe free valet actually costs me more money in the long run! :smokin:

As a renter, what are the valet parking perks? Can you valet park at any reasort? We are staying at BCV and would love to be able to park at the the other resorts....

I'd have to echo the majority here and say that, for me, it would be the Annual Pass discount.

Additionally, I'd agree with the "wisdom" of others who suggest that one not purchase for investment based on perks that come and go. The AP discount is great, but it is not guaranteed. No perk is.

Renters are not entitled to member perks. On occation, renters will get member perks based on saying DVC on their room card (they will NEVER get the AP discount, which is controlled very tightly). For members staying on points, valet parking is only supposed to be for DVC resorts. For members, it very often happens that the valet parking shows up on the room bill and requires a visit to the front desk on checkout day to get removed.

And I will second (fifth?) - do NOT buy DVC for perks. We were all pleasantly surprised with the AP discount was put in place - but they took away the discount they had for park hoppers when they did that. At times there have been more (or fewer) restaurant discounts, we used to get a discount at the Disney store, and it seems we always travel at the wrong time for the Cirque discount that will occasionally show up. In the early days, OKW members staying on points got free park tickets - and were told that - while that program had an expiration date, a similar benefit would replace it. A similar benefit is NOT a ten percent discount on hoppers......

We haven't used many - we did get one AP once. And we've used the dining discount at Marrakesh. But since we don't rent a car, don't generally go often enough for APs, and usually forget to use dining discounts, we don't use much. However, my favorite perks are the extension of benefits given to staying on site to DVC members (and renters and guests) - that we are included in Magical Express without a fee, that we get to purchase the dining plan, that we get extra magic hours - its probably worth noting that these things aren't given - it took a year for us to be able to get the dining plan - and there was a lot of discussion on these boards that ME might be an added charge for DVC members.
