Favorite Discount as a DVC Member

I'm currently in the process of buying a resale. What are other discounts that make a DVC worth the investment?
None!

Don't buy for discounts! They come and go.

(My favorite is the AP! LOVE IT!)

Agree that the discounts and perks are not guaranteed and can/do change. Not a good idea to base any portion of your purchase decision on the perks.

My favorite is the AP/PAP discount. Am now also very fond of the 20% discount on most of the restaurants in the Swan/Dolphin resorts. Since they are not included on the Dining Plan and we stay in the EPCOT Resort area, those options are wonderful. We just walked over and got seated immediately. Food was good (we liked FRESH especially) and service excellent. Discount applied to all meals, not just lunch at the restauratns that honored it.

We purchsed in 2000 when the AP discount was not offered, so our decision was made without that consideration, and have never looked back. :cool1:

And with that being said, we still truly appreciate the AP discount -- that is $500 annual savings for our family. EMH and ME are probably next up, and followed by the DDE.:cheer2:

We would have to agree that the AP is the best discount. Saves us over $500 as well.

The AP discount is great - helps us go more often. I hope they keep this perk around for a long time. However, we did not buy DVC because of anything other than the future use of the resorts - as others have said, that's the best "discount" of all.

True. We didn't even consider any of the "perks" when we decided to buy. Went with only the actual value to us of buying DVC.

But we also hope that they keep this perk, as it helps defray our costs overall. Almost pays for our annual dues!

Ok - This is probably going to come off as "stupid" but where do I go to find out which restaurants allow DVC discounts?

We just returned from a week at SSR. In the check-in folder was a booklet called Perks... there was a list of all the discounted restaurants in that booklet.. along with other discounts/deals. Most seemed to be either 10% or 20%. Nine Dragons at EPCOT was 20% for example.

I'm not sure where else you can get that booklet. You might try calling your DVC rep and asking for one or maybe a resort front desk. I could try to scan the one I have. But it does change.

I agree with the majority and love the AP discount. What a great savings!

Love the AP discount and dining discounts.
