I have been lurking out there as a reader for many, many, many months and finally found something that evoked the need to respond. I totally agree with the comments on Fidelio and Dueling Pianos. He was fantastic!! So very talented and he seemed to totally love what he was doing. I think I only missed them once my entire cruise.
As I read trip reports and threads like this here and elsewhere his name keeps coming up and most everyone seems to love him and the venue and recognize how talented he is. If you all are that afraid that he and DP may be eliminated maybe we need to start a letter writing campaign to the
DCL main office in LBV and let them know how we feel (or at least email them). I wrote a letter as soon as I returned from the cruise in March even before this discussion surfaced about DP being eliminated because I didn't think they (DCL) were doing enough to promote/showcase his talents.
Having been a manager in customer service nothing received more attention and was more powerful than a letter. A check box on a survey says something but when someone took the time to write a letter, that got our attention. We always seem to make the time when something doesn't meet our expectations but we are not as quick to put out the same effort when we are pleased.
It might have been pretty bold of me to start posting to the board this way. I am grateful for all the good and positive information I have received here but I couldn't let this pass quietly.
I am so very glad that I booked another cruise before dry dock in September so I have an opportunity to see them again.
Now that I have that out of my system, I have to also give kudos to our dining room attnedants Sasha from Croatia and Edit from Hungary. They were excellent. I also send the very best wishes to Ian. You would never have expected that he was leaving the ship for anything more than a holiday. I wish him the best.
